My dr refuses to tell you how much is in your band or what he gives you. He says it isn't your concern. But He is a notorious a hole. I'm trying to get in elsewhere for fills. He also refuses to give you a fill if he thinks you are making bad food choices and aren't exercising. You practically have to "earn" a fill. I could not hate him more than I do.

I'm doing ok. I go back to the surgeon tomorrow. No fills yet but I had LB with plication. I think I've lost 26 since surgery, 36 since preop. My surgery was 8/10/12. Pennie

My Surgery Was July 20, 2012 How Are My Fellow Bandsters Doing?
Pheath replied to Starting Over!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 8/10 and have no fill yet. I did have plication with my band so maybe that is helping. I have lost 21 or so since surgery date. I think you are doing great. It's so hard! Pennie -
I had the abalation in 7/09 and haven't had a period since. It saved my life. Mine was also an outpt procedure. I had it at 45. Pennie

Am I Crazy To Get Banded?? Only 25-30 Lbs To Lose.
Pheath replied to janleefran's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that it is worth the risk and the pain of surgery, the pain of feeling stuck etc if you have health problems because of your weight. You said, "why is it ok for you but not for me?". Because most of us were at risk medically and having chronic health issues because of obesity. The chance of dying bc we were fat is greater than the risk of surgery and slips and other lap band related risks. Just be aware that the surgery will take 2-3 weeks out of your life, put 5 scars on your tummy, and you will still have to diet and exercise. I've been banded for 8 weeks. In hindsight I would never do this for 25 - 30 lbs. Pennie 8/10 -

Pheath replied to kittylove32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, I just noticed I am covered with hair on my shirt! I had surgery 5 weeks ago and have lost 26 lbs since starting preop. So, I need Biotin and to increase my protein? -
Oh congratulations!!!

They never said a word to me about a straw but I avoid them mostly because of reading here although a few times I've forgotten.

I think this can be a harsh place considering that we were all a bunch of fatties. Filtering can be useful.

Lap Band With Plication
Pheath replied to amandaakadeda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not CG, but when you are eating so little you don't get as full. I was nervous in the beginning bc I was thinking I could eat alot but as you add thicker and more filling foods you should notice the restriction. I get chest pain if I eat more than about a cup. I am almost 5 weeks out. -
Lap Band With Plication
Pheath replied to amandaakadeda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont have to sip either. Congrats on all the weight loss! I'm down 16 since 8/10 (surgery) and 26 since 7/1. I definitely have restriction. -
Lap Band With Plication
Pheath replied to amandaakadeda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get a slight little hiccup when I am getting full, but I mean I BURP all the time. I burp hours after or even now I burped and I have had nothing since last night. And I rarely burped (occasional small little lady like burps) pre surgery. My kids die laughing at me. I make horrid noises! No one else?? Pennie -

Dont Know If I Can Make It.
Pheath replied to MikeW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I would surely die during that phase. But I didn't and I'm 4 weeks post op and I've lost about 23 lbs. You can do it! Pennie 8/10 -
I have a terrible doctor. He is an awesome surgeon and a terrible doctor. He doesn't like fat people and he doesn't like to give fills. He says that people use the fill as a crutch. He has many many patients that see him a few times and never go back bc he berates them for wanting his help. There is not a lot of competition here or he would be out of business. Some doctors, like some people are just jerks and have pathology just like anybody else. Go back or find someone to work with you. The band doesnt work without restriction in addition to you making good choices. Some people should be more supportive. It isn't like we don't all have food issues to a destructive degree and live with the negative consequences. Pennie

Length Of Hospital Stay
Pheath replied to farmgirl04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery at 7:00 am and home by 1 pm. I was also self pay and was scared to death I would be admitted. I did fine. I did have to drink a cup of water, pee and walk laps before I could go. -
Woohoo!
