I had mine out on 6/29 and I did fine. It was pretty easy but I have 3 children and it is all relative after childbirth. You will do great! I'm having surgery tomorrow too, lapband!

I am having my band with plication tomorrow! I am self pay and regular lapband was $9999 and with plication it was $11799. I elected to pay more for the extra help. I'm worried about recovery with the plication though. Did you guys do alright after? I have to be observed 6 hrs after and then can go home. Pennie.

I am scheduled for Friday and I am scared too and also second guessing myself. But I weigh 237. I've been overweight for 13 years, and I can't continue to live like this, so I am making myself do it and it will be fine. I need the tool, I need the tool (calming self talk). LOL Pennie

Well I can't see myself using him for my follow up either. He is so disapproving of everything you say. I am having plication and I pray I don't need a fill. And about what you said about not believing what you read on here, i bet that he just hates that people talk about him. I wonder if he reads here? Pennie.

I get it. I feel the same way. I'm armed with tons of information and I'm still afraid. I have never been successful with long-term weight loss before so why should I now? But this time, we will have a tool. Not something to do it for us, but a tool. We can do it. Pennie

Betting it's Woodman. No one else could be that awful. He is doing mine with plication on 8/10. I'm self pay too. I still have 2 lbs to lose before my weigh in the day before surgery so maybe I won't even make it! I'm so sorry he talked to you like that. Can we change to Weaver in 3 mos for fills? That man needs an intervention. And the preop nurse at Baptist said that all the nurses hate having his patients bc they have to deal with him. Pennie

Woohoo!! I was just at an amusement park a few weeks ago and didn't even try. I was too scared I would be humiliated. I'm excited to think next summer could be different. Pennie

They found mine during my testing for lb too. My surgeon wouldn't even consider doing them at the same time although I wished at the time he would bc my ins won't pay for LB but they did for Gb. Of course better safe. I had my GB out on 6/29 and my LB is Fri 8/10. I got my energy back about 8 days post op but felt like it was a breeze. Hope I do so well with the LB! Pennie

I'm self pay and it took a long time bc they still had a lot of steps. Psychologist, nutritionist, abdominal u/s, EKG, cxr, blood, some kind of scope thing, then my 3 hr appt, he made me lose 10 lbs to shrink the liver (I have 2 to go) it was a lot. I am scheduled for 8/10.

Hi, I am having lb with plication on 8/10. I was scheduled for the 8th and the surgeon r/s me. I'm nervous! I only have to do liquids the day before surgery but he required me to lose 10 lbs. I have 2 to go! Good luck to you!

You guys are a tough group. I am a medical social worker at renowned pediatric oncology hospital and I know all about informed consent. Also some of my best friends are nurses. And I am more than informed about lap band and have been reading voraciously here for a year. The RN today was the hospital nurse who was meant to give me pre-op instructions (like bathe with antibacterial soap the morning of surgery and bring a responsible adult with you). She made it plain that she doesn't like the surgeon and told me horror stories including his bedside manner and how he treats staff. I get it. He is a jerk. I agree, it was a lack of boundaries and if her supervisor had heard she would be in trouble. after she said all of that she came back and said but that 'usually it goes fine even though she doesn't like to take care of his pts bc he is a jerk, but he is an excellent surgeon'. Other staff that were coming in the room were looking at her like 'shut up' and obviously not comfortable even being in the room with her doing that. Just bc someone is a nurse, or Dr, or Judge etc doesn't mean that sometimes they don't need to shut up. She was telling me that bc of her agenda with the surgeon who yelled at her last week, not bc it was her job. Pennie

Went for my prep stuff at the hospital today, I'm scheduled for 8/10, and the nurse skeered me with her lap band stories! She told me that the surgeon insists on 6 hrs of observation after and how you MUST NOT vomit. And how they observe for internal bleeding, in case there was a nick, etc! I finally asked how many problems she had seen and she said only a few. But still! It is like a plane pilot talking over the intercom during takeoff about plane crashes. I had my GB removed a month ago and breezed through it which made me really confident I could do this. Now I'm worried! Pennie LB with plication 8/10

Hi, I am coming out of lurkdom and saying a big thank you to LapBandTalk for all the info I've gotten over the past 6 months. I am having a lapband with plication on 8/8. I need to lose right at 100 lbs. I have no idea how I let myself get this big but I did. I am an emotional eater and I know that it is going to be a challenge to find another way to manage my emotions. I am self pay (YIKES, my company has a WLS exclusion) but I feel like I have to do it to get control of my health. I'm 48 y.o., recently divorced, and have 3 kids. For any of you that had plication, I am scared of the recovery! I had my GB out on 6/29, also lap, because they discovered gall stones during my workup for my lapband. I thought that was a breeze. Is there a board for lapband with plication? Pennie
