  1. Hi all - I am already working out my strategy for eating out! As my husband is trying to drop some kilo's, we are going to share a couple of healthy Entrees. He will obviously be eating the most but at least we can each choose one thing we like without wasting money and food when we go out. With friends I am going to try and see if at least one person will share an entree with me - all sounds good in theory so will let you all know how it plays out! I am getting a head of myself here as I still have 7 more days of the liquid diet! Like everyone else that is on the post surgery liquid diet, I can't wait for some scrambled eggs or ricotta cheese and salmon! Liquids are going down quite well now - 13 days since my surgery - I am so over the Protein shakes so have gone to skim milk and Vitamin supplement - trying to get my hands on some chewable Iron tablets but they aren't that easy to find!
  2. I did have the swallow test and X-ray 2 days after op. I can't say it was pleasant - a bit like drinking a shot of peppermint snaps when you already have the worst hangover!! (I had the clear liquid) - however - it did give me peace of mind that I didn't have a leak. I guess it depends on what your surgeon thinks is necessary. 11 days after surgery and drinking is getting easier.
  3. Hi fellow Sleevers! I am based in Sydney, Australia and had my surgery on the 18th July 2012. I am into my second week of the liquid diet and must say although it is difficult - I hate Protein shakes - it is not as torturous as the prep diet which I ended up doing for 1 day short of 4 weeks. I am not feeling hunger but do have a craving for the savoury taste of things. I was never a sweet tooth and have never been a big fan of milk shakes so this whole period has been a true test! I have the most awful bad breath but trying to save my friends and husband by gargling regularly with mouth wash. I realize it is the ketosis but was wondering if any one had some hints on how to treat this other than Listerine every half hour?? I am so looking forward to getting through this recovery phase and progressing to real food. In the meantime I am sticking to the diet - although I can't say I have stuck to drinking the 3 required shakes a day! I just can't fit them in - by the time I finish one it is time for the next one! I am trying to drink as much Water as I can and gentle walking (ok - it is around a shopping centre looking at the clothes I am going to buy!!). Physically I still feel a bit tired but everyday I feel an improvement so am not too worried about it. Just for your info, the day I walked into the my doctors office and was told that the writting was on the wall as I had fatty liver disease, high colesterol and elevated sugar levels, I weighed 102kgs, today - 10 days post surgery I weigh 87. Anyway, just thought I would share where I am at with my new life! Roll on the next 3 weeks!
