  1. Thanks Shell - yes really happy so far. I am expecting the weight loss to really slow now as I am getting close to the goal I set for myself and have been very lazy when it has come to the exercise! You are looking great yourself. It is amazing to see the transformation. Has anyone else got any photos - would love to see them!
  2. A current photo! We were off to the races!
  3. Sorry for all the typos in that last post - darn that auto correct!
  4. Both Kelly's - kelliv and Aussie kelloff! Great weight loss - yes it does seem quite routine for those kilos come off compared to how hard it was to loose weight per sleeve! I am so glad I have my secret weapon!
  5. Great news Kelly - I set those same goals and I have been chipping away at them. My next one is to get under 70kg! If I do that I will be in the healthy BMI! I have been quiet because I have had a lot on lately. Went to the NRL grand final last night - we had seats six rows from the front near half way - it was great - I have never been to a grand final so great first experience! I have also been really worried about Lila - do you know it there has been any news? I think we are all aware that there are risks but the reality of it is a very long road to recovery which most of us don't dwell on too much! I really hope she is OK. How are you finding eating. I have been very naughty lately as I have also been out to the races all day on Saturday so between football and races you can imagine the type of food I have been eating over the weekend - and I had half a beer! That under 70 kg is looking further away every minute!
  6. I went through Circle of Care at Baulkham Hills. I have found everyone very approachable there. I didn't have any complications and I was in Norwest Private which is a very nice hospital too. I like my surgeon (Dr Roy Brancastisano) a lot as he is very easy to talk to and explained everything really clearly to me. He is very passionate about this work and very positive too which made me feel reassured that everything would be fine - and it was. All the post surgery dietician, psychologist and physiotherapist care is included as part of the package.
  7. Hey puppyphat Don't punish yourself - there have been times where I have had KFC, other days I have had chocolate and other days I have had bacon! I really enjoyed it and in the scheme of things because we can eat so little it isn't going impact. Tomorrow is another day! At my surgeon appointment - just weighed in - 76kg BMI of 27.6 or something! But still 40% body fat - just shows that I have changed my eating but can't get off my lazy butt to do regular exercise! Can't hide anything from those bl..dy scales at the clinic!!
  8. I am taking the following each day 1 x multi Vitamin 1 x krill oil 2 x silica 4 x Calcium citrates-have to have 2 mid morning and two in the evening as these are not meant to be taken with other supplements or with Protein as they inhibit the absorbtion of protein. I am not taking D or Iron yet as the dietician wants to check if I have a deficiency first - blood test next month to check everything. On top of that I am also taking 1 x Nexium and 2 x coloxyl. I feel like I am rattling when I walk!!
  9. Susie and Nessa I think having a down period at that time is totally normal also I think your intake is pretty normal. I was told 1/3 of a cup of food and it should take 20-30 mins to eat that. My dietician said if you feel full then leave it for a while and come back to it. I too lacked a bit of energy and felt quite unwell but I figured out that I wasn't eatin often enough. My surgeon told me not to get in the habit of snacking but because you can't get much in, I think you so need to eat morning and afternoon tea - at least initially until you can get more in over time. Now 9 weeks out it is slowly getting easier to eat a bit more so I think it just takes time to get used to the new way of eating and for your system to get used to it . Welcome to all the new people - there seems to have been a rush on this thread latley! I too am happy that i went straight to the sleeve. I intially went to have a consultation about a band but when my surgeon explained the sleeve it just seemed to be the low maintence option (although it did sound a bit drastic). Anyway, really pleased that i had the sleeve. I have found a stange thing and wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing. I find liquids easier to swallow if I hold the liquid in my mouth and move it around a bit (like chewing food) before swallowing. I don't know why this would be the case but maybe it actually sends a message to my asophagus and stomach that something is coming down!! Am I sounding completely nuts??? So time for a progress report - started this journey at 102 kg, lost about 3 kg before seeing the surgeon so weighed in at 99 kg, lost about 8-9 kg on pre-op diet and I got on the scales today and I weighed in at 77.4 - I am wrapped. I also fitted into size 14 Target jeans today so that is so exciting. I can't remember when I was last a 14 - it would be about 20 years ago! On the down side, my nails are breaking and I am dreading the 3 month hair loss that everyone talks about. I am taking my Calcium citrate and silica with Biotin but I think it only helps and doesn't prevent. I will keep you all posted on how that stage goes!
  10. I'm with you Nessa. I am sort of experimenting with what I can and can't tolerate so am not measuring things. Tonight I had some lasagne and it went down well. I also had some coleslaw which was a bit of a challenge! I think I am learning to slow down and chew more as it is getting easier to eat now I am 9 weeks out. I have been at my Mum and Dads for a week which is always food, food, food and have indulged in a few not so healthily foods so will be interesting to see how much that shows up on the scales - no walking either! Hopefully because they are such small quantities it won't be too bad. So my typical Breakfast is 1/3 cup of All Bran and a kiwi fruit, snack would be 1/4 yogurt, Lunch would be a small tin of tuna and a small tomato sliced. Afternoon tea would be a slice of ham. Dinner would be meat/fish of some sort and about 3 teaspoons of green veg. I have to eat something every 3 hours or I feel unwell so I hope I am not eating too much.
  11. Welcome Donna! I hope you enjoy our thread - you will learn so much and get so much support from the nice bunch of people that are in this thread!
  12. Great job Shell and Puppyphat!
  13. Hi Lila I am thinking of you and so sorry things are not as good as you hoped yet. Like you said, I think they are right on to it so it is great that they found this quickly. Like everyone else here, I feel so helpless and wish there was something I could do to make things better for you - hence the offers of money as it seems the only thing that we all can do to give you practical help - can totally understand why you wouldn't feel comfortable with that. I just keep trying to send positive energy your way - I am not big on praying but would be willing to go there for you! It is fantastic that you have caring hospital staff around you - it makes all the difference. All the best to your family too as they must be worried. Take care and keep smiling :-)
  14. Dear Lila I am so so sorry that you had these complications and very thankful that you have had such good care and are on the road to recovery. I am sending all my positive energy your way for your swallow test and hope that goes well for you. Just rest up and put all your energy into getting well. We will all be thinking of you!
