  1. Pops I meant all the best Lessismore! Great you have your date Bec!
  2. All the best to Bec for your recovery and wishing everyone else the best for their pending ops - strap yourself in for one exciting ride down the weighing scales!
  3. Hi misty Don't beat yourself up over the Macca's - once you have the sleeve, those days will be a distant memory - I am the same as Aussiegirl, I no longer torture myself over bad choices! I also agree with Aussiegirl regarding the 'honoring your stomach' statement (I think I have already voiced my rather strong opinion on this on a previous post!). I can tell you are a nice person but I am sure the therapist would understand if you decided to move on. You need to get what you need out of it to work through things you are wanting to deal with. I have no doubt there is a therapist out there that is more in tune with the person that you are and what will work for you. Between Dr Phil and this thread, I think I get all the therapy I need!! :-)
  4. You are looking great and you are obviously very very happy with life! All the best!
  5. Obviously I meant sleeved on 18 July 2012!
  6. Welcome Sunette. Please don't get discouraged - Being a nurse you probably know all this but I have also heard that a stall at 3 weeks is quite common - something to do with your body doing some huge adjustments to the reduction in calories. - from what my dietician told me is that we are putting our bodies into starvation mode so I guess this is your body going into 'famine' mode trying to hold onto your body weight stores - I think eventually it won't be able to hold much longer and you will see the weight come off - also if your are exercising it could be muscle that is keeping your weight at the same level. I am pretty sure you will see a change in the next few weeks and it will start to move as that is what I have heard from other people's stories. I know you might think 'is this it' or 'it hasn't worked' but believe me - it does work and you will see the weight start to come off and then you will be amazed at your shrinking self. All the best - there is a great group on this thread so you will always have someone to share with and who has had a similar experience.
  7. You are looking fantastic!
  8. Congrats Dean - you are now officially our Aussie sleeve star!
  9. Hi everyone - Just touching base as like puppyphat, things have been going along quite nicely. I have done my catch up read and can see more and more people joining our thread and a few of the old crowd ducking in for a visit - wow Shell! I am still concentrating on my maintenance but have dropped another kilo over the last few weeks - now weighing 61.4kg (167cm and 51 yrs old sleeved on 18 July 2012 - pre-op weight 103kg for those of you who don't know my history). I keep talking about exercise but I haven't got to my free personal training sessions yet!!! I kind of feel guilty when I see how fit you all sound!!! Great work guys - you know who you are! Misty - when I made the decision to get the sleeve I looked at the all the options of weight loss surgery and based my decision on what side effects I could live with or tolerate for the rest of my life. I have ended up still having to take Nexium for excess acid/reflux - some people have to be on this for the rest of there lives and I might be one of them - but hey I knew there was a chance of this a long with all the other risks but I would do it all again - the sleeve was defiantly the right choice for me and I am so happy. It is a big decision and with all the information from the surgeon, you will be able to make the right one for you. Remember - this is all about you - no one else - so it is what you can live with going forward. Good luck with you appointments. Lissa - damn those red frogs! I have had my episodes too - mainly from eating too fast but thankfully nothing recently!
  10. Wow Sharon - what an amazing account of your experience - makes me want to get it done again in Mexico!! I was always a bit apprehensive about what they now call 'surgery tourism ' but I can say that I have only read good reports on this forum about Mexico for the sleeve. As you are a nurse yourself, you would be able to have a direct comparison of the standard of care. I don't think many Australians would have considered Mexico as an option but I can understand it would be an option if you didn't have private health cover or didn't want to draw back on your super and pay the tax. Anyway, well done - I still think you were very brave going all that way and doing it on your own!
  11. Hey Misty - I would look that therapist in the eye and say 'I am more than just a stomach!! :-) I think you will be honouring your mind and body when you reach your healthy weight range and know you can stay there! I look at this way, my husband is a type one diabetic and he would have 75% of any organ removed ( well maybe not ANY!) if it was going to cure him and ultimately save his life! I don't see any difference because having the sleeve will help extend my life (I know there are no guarantees) or at the least, give me a vastly better quality of life going forward. Just being able to buy trendy clothes has added to my quality of life!
  12. Welcome Misty - I think most of us here can relate really easily to your struggle with your weight - I can't even count the amount of Weightwatchers memberships I have had over the years not to mention Jenny Craig! The only thing that has worked for me has been getting the sleeve as I never did reach goal with any other weightloss program let alone maintain my weightloss! It is a big decision to take the step to have surgery and one that you have to make yourself so you have done the right thing in educating your self so well! All the best for your journey that is just beginning! This is a great thread with a great bunch of people - as I have said before, plenty of shoulders to cry on and plenty of people to give you a pat on the back! Keep us up to date! I am only just realising that now I have reached goal the journey still continues and is for life - hey but what a great life!!
  13. Great to hear from Michele! Glad to hear you are back on track and sounding so positive. I think I have documentation from my dietician if you want me to scan it and email to you - to be honest, I think this forum is probably just as helpful!
  14. Fantastic Lily! You must be really happy! Has it sunk in yet that you are no longer a person with a weight problem - it has taken me a while. You will soon be joining me on the 'maintenance' journey which I am coming to terms with!

    Puree Stage - Recipe/ideas

I think it does change the taste but that is my personal opinion. It could also have been that my taste wasn't quite the same post op. I endured the purer faze - can't say I enjoyed it! However, some of these recipes sound really tasty so I would give them a try!
