Amout Of Food Your Able To Hold

try using MyFitnessPal if you aren't already! I LOVE it! it shows me each day how many calories I got as well as grams of Protein, carbs, and fat. even shows Vitamins.. you can track "water" too.. I also get Vitamin Water Zero and water it down half with water because plain water just doesn't seem to sit well with me. p.s. if anyone wants to add me on MFP my username is angelsept19
  3. so glad to see your profile pic to know you are a man hahahahahahaha
  4. pre op I HATED cottage cheese, like literally it made me GAG. I'm a couple weeks post op and I can't get enough of it, I love it all of a sudden! even plain! of course I can only eat a little bit at a time but it's SO yummy LOL also I dream about avocados now LOL I always heard people say their tastes change post op but I didn't believe it.. now I do HA! gotta go.. time to run out to the store to buy some more cottage cheese
  5. LOL a good friend of mine had RNY about 18 months ago and she had a hard time adjusting to her new little tummy and so she named it "Princess" hahaha she inspired me to pick a name.
  6. yeah I'm so over the sweet stuff too!!! LOL I made the mistake of having a little bit of refried Beans with some avocado and sour cream all mashed in it last night.. only problem was that the beans were too thick and it felt 'stuck' in my chest for like 30 minutes. Ugh. Won't do that again!!! I'm lucky that's all it did. I like what you said about consistency of tomato paste because that's about all I can tolerate right now as far as how thick my food is, any thicker and it doesn't go down comfortably. How are you doing with not drinking during meals? my mouth gets SO dry.
  7. I am cleared for "pureed" foods and I figured that ripe avocados are so easily mushed up when chewed that I tried them and tolerated them perfectly. Actually they feel great going down Elvira (my sleeve). I also noticed that I hit a stall after about 12 days of having only liquids post op.. then the day I added pureed consistency foods (including mushed up cottage cheese and avocados and Beans & cheese mushed up) I started dropping the weight again. I think my body needed a little bump up in calories. I am still only getting 500-650 calories a day and I'm full! LOL
  8. because there's so much variation in our surgeons post op diets I thought I'd see what everyone else is doing post op day 7-14.. I am post op day 7 and basically still doing lots of Clear liquids with some full liquids thrown in.. one or two Protein shakes a day.. getting in about 60-70 oz Water (if you include all the broth lol) taking my chewable multivit and feeling good!

    Cottage Cheese

I've been mixing it with bits of avocado LOL I mush them both up really good. Nit sure why but I've been craving both of them!
  11. I have both mild psoriasis and eczema and was completely shocked that even at 5 days post op I could notice a HUGE decrease in how "angry" it looked.. much less red and scaly. Now I'm 17 days out and the eczema is almost gone and the psoriasis is way better too!! I SWEAR it's from cutting diet coke and sugar out of my diet! I'm so happy about it I even cried one day LOL I have spent so many years and so much money on prescriptions trying to clear it up! SO HAPPY!
  12. I had surgery on 9/14 and was back at work on 9/25. I didn't have anymore paid leave I could use so I figured I'd just do my best. I'm a surgical nurse and work 12 hour shifts on my feet and was AMAZED I was totally ok. Seriously I wear a pedometer at work and I walk average 7 miles/shift! I start my shift at 10am and work til 11pm 3 days/week.. but by 3pm I WAS pretty tired that first week but I'd go drink some protein shake and then I was fine. Also I am fortunate to work in a university teaching hospital so there are tons of med students and residents around because I couldn't lift anything heavy LOL I was really lucky though because I had no post op pain after that first night and I haven't had any nausea since anesthesia. Also I've been able to get in all my protein and water, which is SO important to have energy! I'm SO grateful I've been ok back at work because I literally couldn't take any more time off
  13. I had surgery same day as kmwheel and I also stalled at just before 2 weeks LOL but then a few days later BAM I dropped 3 lbs LOL I think our bodies are saying "OMG what is happening?! I need to adjust" keep the faith, EVERYONE goes thru stalls!

you look GREAT!!!!! keep up the good work and keep up the posts!
  15. thanks for sharing these!! I'm blown away by how different every doctor's diet is LOL good info!
  16. thanks for sharing this! I got a post op diet from my doctor but I felt like it was really lacking so I've been using what other people's doctors have recommended and taking it slow. Always appreciate seeing someone else's post op plan
  17. oh yeah I'm getting 60 grams total with other foods protein is important!

    Should I Be Concerned

I only had to do 3 day pre op diet of yogurt and water... but I know a bunch of people with doctors here in California who were told to eat normally (but try for less fatty diet) and then nothing after midnight the night before surgery. Honestly it's prob a good thing to do a longer pre op diet.. but I am a nurse and none of my patients have a pre op diet before they have their gallbladder out or hernia repair or back surgery or brain surgery or colostomy or liver surgery etc etc etc. (just my observation, not medical advice) It's nice to shrink your liver but I would say go with your doctor recommendations and you can always just do a liquid pre op diet ahead of time if it makes you feel more comfortable
  19. I am always grateful to people for sharing what their doctor recommends for post op diet. I had my surgery in Mexico and it seems like it IS a little different not having all the same follow up care.. totally do-able though! My doctor did not focus on Protein at all post op and the diet just didn't make alot of sense to me LOL as a nurse I KNOW protein is important so I started researching what everyone else's doctors said and have basically fashioned my own plan using everyone else's hahaha it's funny because basically I'm following exactly what you have posted here and taking it slow I definitely take my sublingual B-12 everyday, started taking it pre-op and was AMAZED at how much better I felt once I started it! I also take 2 flintstone chewable multivits a day. I'm 2 weeks post op and am doing full liquids and had my first little bit of refried Beans with a little bit of cheese and some FF sour cream last night.. I about died it was so good after 2 weeks of liquids. I could only eat about 4 spoonfuls and was totally full so I'm still doing at least one Premiere protein shake a day (30 grams protein). I am down 22 lbs so far!! woohooo! Thanks again for sharing this!

    Explain Your Name!

when I graduated nursing school I was trying to change from yahoo email to live.com email and the one I wanted was taken so I thought of "nursegirl", kinda like Super Girl except a nurse LOL that was taken too but nursgirl wasn't.. it's stuck ever since.

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

rainhaiter, I had surgery on 9-14-12 and was back at work 9-25-12 with no problem, even doing that 13 hour shift LOL I'm 38 yrs old so I'm not like elderly or anything but I'm old enough that I was worried about if I would be too tired.. I'm back at work again today for my second 13 hour shift back to back and it's 4pm and I admit I'm starting to feel tired LOL I am grateful tomorrow is my day off so I can rest up and drink lots of water Nursing IS a very physical job for the most part.. I am lucky I work in a major teaching hospital so there are lots of residents and students around to do any lifting for me. I was getting bored at home so I was looking forward to being back here LOL On like day 7 post op I went to Costco and Home Depot and walked allllllllll over both stores with no problem. It's been super helpful to me to walk wak walk everyday and to get in all 64+ ounces of water and 60 grams protein shakes.

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

well I survived my first shift back at work.. 13 hours of surgical fun (I work in the operating room) LOL I was amazed that at just 12 days out my energy level is same as pre-op.. maybe even better since I'm not putting all the crap (diet coke, fatty foods, sugar) in my body like before I packed 2 Protein shakes and some Soup and Vitamin Water zero. Have to say it was tough getting all my water in because we obviously aren't allowed any food/drink anywhere in the operating room so everytime I was between surgeries I'd run to the locker room where my vitamin water zero was stashed LOL got in about 70 grams protein and found out my hospital serves some AWESOME SF frozen yogurt OH! and they give us a new set of scrubs to wear everyday so thank GOD I don't have to buy new ones as I lose weight... but yesterday I went and grabbed my usual size that I was wearing pre op and guess WHAT?! I'm already down a size!!!! wahoooooooo!
  24. I took an extension cord and I was SOOO glad I did because I could plug in my heating pad and of course charge my phone and my kindle. I also took gas-x strips, my own pillow, loose fitting yoga type pants with drawstring waist and my robe came in handy while walking the halls.
