Risks of Side Effects from VSG
Wls4me replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't give you a number but they have been doing gastrectomies for decades to treat peptic ulcers, stomach cancers and other things. If you research "gastrectomy" rather than VSG you might find more info. The "sleeve" part of our surgery is just because of the shape. -
I know most people or carb crazy but will I ever be able to eat a sandwich again?

Fiddle, hand doesn't look like phlebitis at all. In the past couple of weeks you have been listing a variety of symptoms that you are having. Now knowing that you have been taking thermogenics it all makes sense. (Excess sweating, increased heart rate, palpitations/throbbing) I think it's great that you are stopping the supplements. To me, it's one thing to add Protein or even BCAAs after a workout but not much else beyond that. Whenever you get to competition, would you rather look back and be proud of what you accomplished on your own or to know that you accomplished that with supplements? Stay with your "all natural" thinking, it's doing good for you. Just my opinion.

When lifting, is failure being able to complete your last rep but struggling to do so? Or is it not being able to complete that last rep? For you C25K people, on the last day of the week are you completing that run before moving on to the next week? Ex: being able to run the full time of 3 min runs on week 3 before moving to the 4 and 6 min runs of week 4?

W3 D2 done. Took a peak at week 4 - looks a little scary.

I would like someone to come out with an at home "Crossfit" using only common household items. I would definitely buy that DVD. There's something for you to work on Fiddle
-
You also have mentioned drinking coconut water in other threads, its full of potassium.
-
Fiddle, before supplementing any electrolytes I would recommend having your levels checked. Too much of any electrolyte can cause muscle problems, including your heart muscle. Make sure you are supplementing what you are truly low on rather than guessing. Your levels may turn out to be normal and your cramping could be caused simply from dehydration or muscle fatigue.

Did my foundations class. Not sure what I'm getting myself into. Haha. I really enjoyed it. Never thought I would be able to do something like this. Totally psyched! And tips from the pros are much appreciated.

How do you flex after having said "humorectomy"? ????

I think pre op you will be fine. They will help you modify the exercises to your ability. Post op I would say you will need to take in the majority of your calories right before and right after you work out. Pre and post shakes will probably be your best option but you'll need food to carry you through also.

It's very sad that these days people make opinions based on the source and are willing to miss out on good educational information. Informative read Gman. Thanks!

1600m run for WARMUP?? Holy smokes! That'd warm me up for sure then I'd be done We did a 400m run for warn up earlier this week and I was wiped out. Just don't have my cardio built up yet.

Try Hungry Girl. Her meals are small portions and low carb.

Hilarious! I knew they were named after women buy I didn't know why. Now I feel the same as you about Cindy and every other Crossfit woman ????

Didn't have a very good workout today. I think it's because I didn't eat before I went. I drank a new pre workout drink an hour before I went but that's all I had today. I also got nauseas half way through. Not sure if it was the liquid sloshing around in my stomach or working out without proper nutrition. At any rate, I won't do that again.

I see a lot of you posting about your recovery drinks having 40-60 grams of protein in them. If we can only absorb 30 grams at a time, is it a waste to drink more? Or can you absorb more after a workout?
-
Thanks Fiddle! I think I'm just sore. I'm finding new muscles that I didn't know I have. Haha. I'm going to try those stretches. Thanks again for all your advise!
-
Question for you Fiddle... Yesterday at Crossfit we did kettle bells (my first time doing them). I did 10 reps of 10 with an 8kg kettle. Today when I woke up my low back is sore. It doesn't "hurt" per say but I definitely feel it. Is this normal for the kettle bell exercise or did I not have correct form?
-
Oh, haha, no Fiddle. Im nowhere near the beast that you are ????It's just how much work schedule went this week. I'm don't for the week. I'll be back on Monday. I think I would die if I went everyday. But I'm loving it!

I feel great today! I went looking through my pantry, through all the protein powders I bought post op, in search of some sort of recovery shake. And I found one! Didn't even realize my unflavored powder has the BCAAs in it. It's GNCs Pro Performance. Not the best recovery out there but it's what I already have. I think it helped a ton. I woke up this morning and wasn't sore at all. Now, with that being said, I was back at it today so we shall see in the am.

Day 3. I m soooo sore. It's a good kinda sore. It is a constant reminder of what I'm doing and why I'm doing this.
