    Psych Eval And Nutrition Visit?

For me, it is required by my Insurance company, and my surgeons office as well. I also have to do the 6 month diet AND sit with a exercise specialist, dietary specialist and a behavioral health specialist! They require alot!

    Sleep Apnea...question

Ive not yet been tested, but I am pretty sure i have atleast mild sleep apnea. I have most of the symptoms and the extreme complaints I get about snoring just kind of confirm everything in my head. My sleep study is next week. Id love to NOT have sleep apnea, however, id love to have a solution to the "being tired all day from the moment i wake up to the moment I go back to bed" issue. *sigh*

My Advice To All Newly Post-Op Sleevers...

Thanks Jimmy for all your advice and resources! I bought my 5lbs weights today, and will be buying ankle weights later on. I am going to start now.. Not having surgery for another 6 months lol but I am obviously obsessed with not having loose skin

    No Support:(

Thats really sad that he doesn't support you Im so sorry you have to go through that. I am also 27, with sleep apnea and 255lbs. I have been on here just a few days and the support is amazing! If you have no one else to support you, meet people here and I think that will help a bunch!!

    Sleep Apnea...question

Hahaha thats awesome! I cant imagine sleeping around someone, and nobody complaining about my snoring. I hear that i snore like a beast so that will be a new experience -- no complaints about my noise!! lol i cant wait, even if it means i have to have a machine on my face for a while (hopefully the apnea will go away after i lose this weight!!)

    Saggy Skin

Hi, I am really scared of saggy skin too, especially since i have love handles and a kangaroo pouch under my belly! I am 27 and HOPING that youth is on my side however.. i read on another discussion board, posted by a personal trainer, that if you start weight training before surgery and continue weight training afterward (just doing free weights, not necessarily cardio) that your skill will bounce back nicely. Also of course Water water water and i also read that exfoliating your skin helps with that too. Here is a website with some tutorials for strengh training and pin-pointing certain areas! I am starting on this TODAY! www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/

    Sleep Apnea...question

Oh man. Well I wish i could contribute to answering you r question, but I am pre-op and have not yet had my study. HOWEVER, i am pretty sure I will need the CPAP and your description kinda scared me there lol. Well I sure hope it gets better for you, and that you are able to move forward with surgery!! Keep us posted!
  9. Yes it really does!! I am glad I found this place, it really eases my fears because there is a post or group that talks about any concern i could possibly have lol. Also hearing all the positive responses and seeing succesful people!! Im so happy! Also im glad you stopped discussing it with her and i bet you guys will still be great friends!
  10. I know how you feel. One of my friends that I really expected to support me, acted the same way. My response was: If you are not going to support me, then we will permanently remove this topic from the table, and ill keep this part of my life to myself". Simply -- and we never talked about it again. I am still Pre-Op, so I can't offer MUCH advice about the surgery, but I did read a posting on here, written by a Personal Trainer that said to start working out before hand (not cardio, but strength training) to build muscle now, which will in turn start tightening your skin and of course muscle burns fat He even listed a website with tutorial strength-training videos (www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/). This is what I will start doing NOW and continue to do after surgery. There are exercises that will also work on your boobs Lastly, every single person that I have seen lose weight (from exercise, surgery, diet, etc.) has looked YOUNGER afterward, so please do not let her discourage you in ANY way. You know what you need to do for your health. Stand by your decision, and cease to discuss it with her anymore. I know its hard becasue she is your best friend -- but it will not help you, and right now you need support.

  13. This was really helpful, thanks everyone! I am attending the information session on Saturday, and I hope to have a surgeon meeting soon thereafter!! Goodluck with your visit!
  14. Monica I feel sad about having to do the liquid diet as well. However, I look at it as a temporary hurdle, its only for a few weeks, and then you start getting back to solids. The end result is toooooo good to a meer liquid diet deter me from the operation. Health and happiness is at risk. Look at it like that
