    when.could you.start.sit-ups???

I waited 4 weeks post op. no instruction from Dr on the subject. It didn't hurt, so I did it. I have really focused on strength training since my surgery, in addition to cardio. I can tell a big difference. I'm so much stronger. You can't spot reduce, but you can turn your muscles into get burning machines.

    first fill

I had my first fill today and I'm able to swallow but it does feel really tight. He put in 3cc in a large lapband. How long before it feels how it will continue to feel? I feel like water is really tight but goes through

    Psychological Poundage Challenging Me.

The child of an alcoholic here. Didn't know that the damage was so far reaching for me until the past year. Got divorced, got into therapy, got my band. food is comfort for me. Filling an empty hole only I feel/see. Covering up anxieties at work or socially. Thin people will ask "but does it make you feel better?" yeah! It does sometimes. Soothing. Comforting. It's what I know? I was banded 9/10. Down 22#. Here is a trick I use in the car. I love to eat in the car. In private. In shame. When I want to eat something I shouldn't (fast food is my drug of choice). I drink some Water. I put a piece of gum in my mouth, I get out a bottle of lotion and I close my eyes and put lotion on my hands and arms slowly . Calming. And I breath deeply and repeat a mantra. My go to is "I am what I am. And it's enough.". I'm struggling with self esteem this year. Some of the more powerful ones don't ring true for me. But I'll work myself up to them! usually the cravings pass and then I quickly make myself busy. Bless you on your journey!

    Weight Loss, Periods, Mirena

When mirena's hormones start to wane at approaching five years, your periods will return lightly. Your problem is probably a combo of the weight loss and your mirena is old. Check with your gyn to confirm. Always good to get someone to "look under the hood".
  5. Banded in the 10th. I feel great! Back to work today! Walked two miles yesterday. Was tired but good! Depression is mostly gone. That was weird!
  6. Your mom isn't overweight. She CAN'T understand. She loves you and is worried about you. But your health WILL decline with all that extra weight. She will see you start getting sick from chronic disease before she does. There are risks with WLS. She's right. But you likely will handle it well. There is very little chance of staying healthy with your current weight. My mom is obese. She's been great. My ex husband never understood. Just eat less he'd say. Exercise more he'd say. But food addiction is sn addiction. I hated the way the post surgical pain meds made me feel. I took them 2 days. I can't imagine getting hooked on them but obviously people do! She can't imagine your struggles. So cut her some slack and do what's best for you.
  7. I had surgery on 9/10 and went back for a half day Friday and back full today. I walked two miles last night and was tired but felt good. I hardly took any pain meds. Was pretty much ibuprofen by Wednesday. I am very healthy and pretty fit( as much as you can be at 120lbs overweight.). I an just getting tired easily. So when I need to sit and relax, I do. No manual labor here though. Just in sales.
  8. Debprobst. I've been incredibly emotional!!! Never had surgery either so I can't speak to past experience. Better today. Friday was the worst. Was banded Monday 9/10.

    It Does Get Better!

I've been struggling too! Banded on 9/10. Weight is falling off of me this week - so why am I not happier? Almost depressed? Could be the anesthesia. Could be the lack of carbs (I'm so focused on getting the protein in - I don't want to lose any hair!) I've really doubted my choice this week. I haven't even been in that much pain! But I know that I was never able to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off before. Multiple doctors recommended this for me. I'm young (relatively - 37 ) and still very healthy. If I don't deal with this now, my health WILL suffer later. Loose skin is my problem now? I'll take it over diabetes and heart disease anyday. For my daughter, For my health. That's my mantra. Can't wait for mushies!

Yes to the pinching. Mine is in my port area and I just figured that my body is making room for the port. If anyone else thinks some different - let me know!

For the singles here... Just do this..

Firedad -message me. I sent you a message. I live outside of Louisville.
  12. I got my band Monday. Pain is very manageable today. Not much if any gas pain. I also have gained three pounds. I know it is swelling and my body retaining Fluid from the trauma. I KNOW this. Still really makes me aggravated. I'm able to eat a cup of broth, or Soup or Protein shake at a time without feeling terrible. Maybe I have less swelling. Crazy how different it is for everyone

    September 10Th

I'm at almost 24 hours post op. still struggling a bit with port pain and nausea. But overall I feel great. My nurse says he thinks I doing tremendously better than the average lap band patient. I guess going to pee without a bunch if assistance makes me s star patient. Swallow study in a couple of hours. Then home!!!!
