Second Guessing My Decision....normal?
casey11 replied to Harrier's Woman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt the saw way before and after surgery! After surgery I was just so miserable i kept asking myself why did i do this to myself?!?!? After i thought about it, i decide that i would never stick to a diet for this long by myself. I think i was and still am scared that i would mess something up if i cheated. Anyways, once i started the mushy stage i was sooo happy!!! I was banded on Aug 9th and have lost almost 35lbs and it was definatelty worth it! -

So I was banded on august 9th and have been doing great sticking to the post op diets, lost a little bit over 30lbs so far... Well I just had a weak moment, someone brought home Chinese food and I could not resist having a scallion pancake. Let me tell you that was not a good idea at all! Not only do I feel guilty but I feel crappy! I don't think my body is used to all that greasy crap anymore! Well at least I know how it feels to cheat now, tomorrow is a new day! And if anyone is thinking of cheating, don't do it with Chinese food! Lol

I'm a dialysis nurse and I took one week off. I definitely wish i took a little more time. I didn't tell anyone at work about the surgery, my first day back I worked 15 hours and it was tough but I got through it. I'm now about 2 and a half weeks post op and i feel almost back to normal.
-
Haha! I kept asking about my liver too! I dont know why i was so concerned about it! Then the doc said i was demanding pain meds! Lol

When Does The Gas Pain End??
casey11 replied to Roxygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week post OP and I would say around day 5 or 6 mine still got better. I still have some but not nearly as bad, I went back to work today, I am a nurse and am on my feet all day and I think it has actually really helped me. I wish I had walked more in the beginning but I was so miserable I just rested and took the oxycodone. I tried the gas x, didn't help me at all.u doc said it wouldn't because the gas is basically in your abdominal cavity and not in your GI system but I hear it does work for some. Good luck! -

Thanks for the encouragement! I just hope these first few weeks go by fast!! -
I am also 5 days post op and I am feeling the same thing! I can't seen to get all my fluids in but I feel like I am starving!! Like so starving that I'm nauseas! I can only have calorie free, sugar free liquids and protein shakes so i cant wait til i can have slme soup or something! Glad to know I'm not alone!
-
I had surgery 8/9, still in so much discomfort! I know I'm not getting enough fluids in, I can barely do 2 protein shakes a day and maybe 24oz of water, I'm having a lot of discomfort from the gas and now I'm feeling nauseas! This is all just making me feel miserable and making me question my decision. I am on liquids for 2 weeks post op, I didn't cheat at all on my 2 week pre op diet but now everytime I see or smell something I want to eat sooo bad! I know I can't, I'm too scared to anyways but I didn't think it was going to be this difficult!!! Anyways, thanks for letting me vent fellow bandsters...

I Have Had It With The Shoulder Pain!!!!
casey11 replied to SabrinaDollar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, I'm in the same boat spoke to the nurse practitioner in the office today, she said that it's normal, sometimes takes up to a month for it to fully go away!!! I don't know about you but I can't tolerate it for that long! I go back to work Friday.. -
Same here, still very sore. I was hoping not to be taking the pain meds for this long but I am still taking them.. Heating pad is helping some, also just got some gas-x so we'll see if that helps. I am still having a really hard time getting all of my fluids in, only one protein shake today... I do have some milk of mag on hand but haven't even needed it, no trouble going so I guess that's a plus! Lol. I think the hardest part of this is having to rely on people to help me take care of my daughter, she is 10 months old and it's killing me not being able to hold her and cuddle with her! Hope things get better for you soon!
-
I think the gas is the problem, maybe TMI but I started to pass gas so I guess that's a good sign! Lol. I'm going to try to walk a lot today, hopefully that helps. I walked a few hours after surgery and I think I over did it, thought for sure I was gonna throw up but I had the nurse give me IV zofran. I made sure I got a script for that for coming home! I have to have some protein shakes today, hope that goes ok. Thanks for the input and good luck!

Hi all, this is my first post on here but I've been reading for a while now. I had my band placed on Thursday 8/9, got home from the hospital last night. The only real pain that I've been having is this pain when I take deep breaths, they said it was normal but how long does this last? Also, I know I need to stay hydrated but I am so scared to drink to much. I just don't want to over do it and get sick! I was really nauseas yesterday so I am paranoid of throwing up! The doc that discharged me (a resident, not my surgeon) gave pepcid to take, not even sure why he gave it, anyone else take this post op? Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!
