Mac Daddy, did you have surgery already? Or still waiting? What clinic is it?

Hi Mac Daddy. I have a very close friend that saw Dr. Davies and surprisingly she got everything done within a year and a half. Can people get in faster if they are really really heavy? Just curious.

Hi Andrew and thanks for the information. How much did it cost you to do it in Ontario? What were the steps that you had to take to go about it? When you said that there were certain criteria that people had to meet to be accepted in the program in Calgary. What are they? What must the BMI be at and do there have to be co-morbidities? And are you saying that IF all goes fine in the program...it would be approximately 5 years before surgery?????

Hi Newfie Boy. Congrats on being cancer free and also for the awesome weight loss!! I just wanted to let you know that there are a few doctors in Ab. I think Dr. Davies does it (Edmonton) and Dr. Phillip Mitchell, Dr.Estifanos Debru, and Dr. Jean-Gaston Descoteaux (all 3 from Calgary) do it too.

I just found out that there are a couple of doctors in Calgary that do the lap band. I'd like to talk with anyone who has the procedure done with them. Thanks!

Hi Devana and A.M.. Thanks for your replies. I found out today that there are a few doctors in Calgary!! So I will be letting my GP in on the phone numbers. I went last year to get a refferal done to Dr. Farries in Red Deer. I hadn't heard a peep from my GP or from Dr. Farries office. So, I went back last week to see what was going on. Much to my surprise, it wasn't even done!!! Boy!!! Was I ever upset!!! A whole year wasted. GRRRR. Well, after talking it over with my husband, we decided it would be better to go with a lap band. So this is great that there is a clinic here in Calgary! I don't think I can handle going in for an RNY or flying to Mexico to be banded. I am a mum to 4 small kids and cannot afford to be in bed or away for too long. LOL. So, how was the surgery? How did you feel afterwards? How do you feel now? Are you adjusting well? What is your average loss per week/month? Thanks again.

Hi everyone. It is my first time here and I am needing information about the lap band because I am seriously considering the surgery. Does anyone know of any doctors in and around Calgary, Alberta that do the lap band procedure? Thanks.
