I had my VSG on June 6, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove IL. My surgeons were Dr. Rosen and Dr. Makhail, whom I love very much. Their clinic is a center of excellence and they really deserve the title. My surgery was scheduled for 7am that june day, and at 7am on the dot I was rolled into the OR. My surgery went amazing, I was up and walking later that evening, and released the next morning. I had minimal pain, and a bit of nausea from the anastesia (spelled wrong). This was the very best thing I could have ever done in my life and I would do it all over again if I had to. My weight was as ongoing issue and I didn't think anything of it, but when I started developing ailments at my age I became concerned. I had sleep apnea,high BP,joint and knee pain,back pain ect..... I would diet, lose weight up tp 35-40lbs, keep it off for a few months, then gain it back plus more. The last time before my VSG, I tried dieting, and couldn't lose a pound, because of the yo-yoing in the past, then I knew it was time to take a bigger step, and be serious about what I needed to do for a better life. The VSG is working very well for me, and i am loving every minute of it. I was an extreme drinker of water before surgery, and the only thing I hate no is that I can't chug my ice cold water like I did before, LOL! All in all, I am very pleased and wouldn't change it for the world. I am no longer on BP med, reduced knee, back, and joint pain, and was told I no longer snore, which may indicate my sleep apnea is getting better. I've lost 35lbs, and feel great, have more energy, and work out most if not the entire week. Best thing I've ever done for my life.
