I'm encouraged to not lose any weight; because insurance may deny my claim; if u don't mind those who have to lose weight what insurance do you have? I don't think that my insurance required that I lose any weight. My surgeon wanted me to lose 10 poounds, it helps to shrink the liver and it makes the surgery easier. I have UHC

I have had a few. I find that if I get up and walk around the gas pain tends to go away. The surgeon told me that the bubbles move up your body if you lay down, which is part of the reason that they want you to walk.

Home From Surgery!
amfw replied to lovelyladynhouston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Monday. I've been doing much better since Monday. The biggest thing that I'm having a hard time with is getting enough walking in. It's been so hot an humid here. I'm glad that you're doing well -

I hope you continue to feel well. My surgery was at university general hospital off of Fannin. -
My surgeon told me that if my gall bladder wasn't healthy that they would remove it during surgery. Mine was fine but I have medicine that I have to take post op.

Will It Always Hurt? Help!
amfw replied to nanny02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was on July 30 and my new tummy makes all kind of noises. I can't wait to see what it does when I start adding food. Lol -
My surgery was on July 30. I don't think I have ever been in so much pain. The surgery went well, I just have a hard time waking up from the anastheia. The first day there I didn't walk as much as I should have because I was so nauseous. I think the morphine had something to do with it. My throat is very sore and I really dont have a voice. It also hurts like the devil to cough, and everytime I get up to walk I get horrible hiccups. Honestly right now I'm not sure why I had the surgery, but I know that is just the pain talking. Amanda

What flavor of Gatorade ?

I'm still struggling with that. I really don't want to eat anything, but every 30 minutes or so I try to drink some Water or have some Jello. I also walk around and that helps the gas pain go away. Hope this helps some

Thanks y'all for the words of encouragement. I have a good support group at home, but none of them have had the surgery. It's so nice to have found this group and to realize that I'm not alone in my journey. On a side not, it's a little easier to cough today.

I am having my surgery on July 30 and I am really worried that i haven't lost enough weight and my surgeon will tell me that my liver is to big. That's the main thing that I am worried about right now. My scale at home says that I have dropped two pounds since like Thursday (I think) but I'm still worried. Is anyone else having last minutes anxiety? Amanda
