Where are you that you are snowed in... ?? Sounds so weird in April.. Seems the weather is weird everywhere. My weightloss has stalled the last week, help!!! I actaully gained a pound but tomorrow I go for fill so hopefully that will help. Not that I have been eating much. Well have to admit I had some licorice... my bad! No chocolate eggs though. For some reason that is easy for me to resist. I have also been to a couple of movies without eating anything... That is a biggie for me as I totally associate movies with eating.. candy and Diet Coke. So that has been a big step...

Good luck.. I hope you make your decision and do well. I look at the band as a wonderful tool that will prevent me from gaining and losing and gaining even more. The endless yo yo syndrome.. You still have to be on a "diet" but the band makes it easy. The band is only a helpful tool, not the easy answer.. I wish I had had it done a few years back but I am so glad that I could do the band because it is reversible if something should go wrong/ I prefer this because it is not nearly as invasive as the bypass. very happy that I did it because I know I will succeed this time... :nervous

In order not tobe malnourished you must get protein. to keep up energy and not loose hair and all those things. Keeps your muscle mass up. You have to do this as our calorie intake is so low whcih is why they tell you to eat it first...

I was also in a panic before the surgery but that quickly went away. Of course the way you are going I am sure you can probably get it all of. If you get the band you will basically keep doing what you are doing but the band will make it easier. The band definitely does not have the power, you do!! As my doctor told me the band will make the bahavior changes effective, the band doesn't do it alone but it helps alot. Without the band you run the risk of being among 96% of weightloss people who gain it all back and then some. I know as I have doen it many times. This time I know it will stay off but I still have to work at it.. But if you are really totally anxious I would talk to the doctor and maybe think of the fact that you can postpone it..

Yes the rates on capitol one were awful and finance charges huge, most credit cards are better. You are lucky if your mom will take out the loan for you.. do what you can yto get the surgery done, it is worth it!!

That is wonderful... you cover just about all the emotions, how people treat you and the people who will never understand as I did not understand untill I got heavy... great!!! -
Hi I unfortunately ended up with self pay. I am not sure what the score has to be but pretty sure they approve everyone for medical loans, the interest rate will just be really high if you have a low score. The quote we got was bad both rate and finance fees.. however I think they approve just about anyone. this was thorugh Capital One, my doctors office worked with two different ones, capitol and Lap Band financing. I don't remember all the details. If I didn't have the chance to pay I would still have gone ahead with it.. Lise

Hi.. I am sure surgeries in Mexixo are just fine but the problem is the after care and the limited to the doctor who did the surgery. Also if you should ahppen to have any complications it is a real problem. I really helps to be close. My band was too tight a week ago and was fixed two hours later. Called the office and they sent messgae to surgeon who told me to come to hospital right away and he took a little out. So the proximity is important. I am in San Diego so not far but it would still be a hassle to go there for the follow ups. But if you can get good follow up care I am sure it can be fine.

Anytime you need a kick just ask, ha... You will be fine and the fear of screwing up and losing all that money should do it. We just cannot mess around, the only way is to follow rules and Diet Coke is bad for you anyway. I havent had any for over 5 weeks now... it is not worth it.. If I take a sip I imagine my pouch expanding like a balloon and that is not a nice thought... -
Hi again, I have worked in health care for a long time and am familiar with HMO rules etc. They often say that somethign is approved you can do it and that is correct, You just have to do whatever they want you to do to get it approved and that can vary, however in the long run it is worth it. Hoep you can switch.. "We are instructed to state the surgery is not covered BUT their doctors can certainly submit a pre-determination with all the medical information - clinical, history of tried procedures, current medical problems its causing and the reasons for medical necessity at this time. It can then be reviewed by our medical staff if it will be covered under the terms of their contract." ok so.. what do ya'll think??? i'm definately thinking its worth a try. now i have to pray that they will allow me to be added to her insurance. at this time not all insurance companys allow same sex couples to share insurance!!!! cross ya'lls fingers! please! i would say if i can get added to it.. and i go to a doctor the surgeon recommends that supports lap band.. and he submits a statement stating what i've tried and all my weight history and that my bmi is a 46 and that its medically necessary then it should work what do ya'll think!??! i'm so trying not to get my hopes up.

I kind of agree with you, that is what I finally di, there is always a way if you want something bad enough so don't give up. It is worth it and oh yes the money I spend on food is so much less than before.. it is amazing.. . I've seen people get 2nd and 3rd jobs, borrow money, get financing, sell off belongings, and one lady sold her house for the equity. If someone wants the surgery badly enough, they find ways. Besides, financing isn't as bad as it seems. Just the money saved in fast food and grocery bills often times pays the $150 monthly payment. It would have for me in fast food alone. I just used savings and paid for the surgery in Mexico but others have to really jump through hoops to get the financing.

I felt quite normal after two weeks. don't think you will have a problem. Good luck
-
yes that is a good thing!! means it is covered if approved by them, you may have to jumpt through hoops but it will be worth it...

I am sure someone made a mistake at the doctors office and that is such a shame. I also thought mine was covered and talked to insurance several times. Turns out our plan also had an exclusion so no chance of getting coverage. Some people told me they were sure there would be a way around it but after alot of frustration I realized there was not. I was also crushed for a while and let the whole thing go. A month or so later I decided I had to find a way and was able to finance it. I figured this was the most important thing in my life right now as I am sure you do. I know how you felt when you got that news but maybe you can work something out somehow.

I am feb 28 and just found this... so what do I have to do... / record here every day or what...? water and exercise, guess that would be starting today...
-
Oh the last question, turned out my insurance didn't pay at all so when I finally decided to go ahead with self pay the proces was speeded up. I think when you are approved they just have to fit you into surgeons schedule and for me I decided on feb 1st and had surgery on the 28th..

Yes you will get painmeds, I got liquid Vicodin but didn't have to use the whole thing. maybe two days or so of the worst pain. I have 3 children, one a C-section and have had other surgeries and this was the easiest of all.. It just isn't that bad and just think of the benefits...

Oh and ask away.. you will get lost of answers
