How Long Until You Felt Normal Again
ourjonesfam replied to newlifeforlittleME's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. BUT it will take a full 6-8 weeks to feel 100%. I went back to work at almost 3 weeks post-op but I felt absolutely miserable. I was so tired for that first week back and I too have a desk job. Just be careful and get your doctor to write that you need to take frequent breaks. I regret going back to work when I did. I felt okay and had energy but I just wasn't ready. Good luck to you! -
Urging All To Tell Co-Workers
ourjonesfam replied to aaron1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a great point! And I'm glad you're okay! I actually didn't tell all of my co-workers as I have hundreds but told those I'm close to and I know it was spread around. I'm not ashamed at all and even though I get tired of answering questions all the time, I have nothing to hide. I'm proud of my decision to get surgery!! -
Tired Of The "when Can You Have___ Again?" Questions
ourjonesfam replied to gustavo52974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha! You poor thing! We're all so deprived! I just told my husband that if someone gets so depressed like that about not eating then there is a deeper issue there. -
Tired Of The "when Can You Have___ Again?" Questions
ourjonesfam replied to gustavo52974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, it has nothing to do with genuinely wanting to know the answer to something. I answer questions even though they annoy me because the people asking me questions may know someone or are looking into doing it themselves. When I get annoyed, it's when people question everything. I was asked the week I returned to work if I've hit the depression stage yet. I didn't know what he was talking about and he said his son got it and EVERYONE that gets the surgery goes through this horrible depression because they cannot eat anymore and yadda yadda. It made me a little upset and I asked him if he was trying to pull me down when I was already up. I am HAPPY! I agree you should go into the surgery informed. I wouldn't go into any surgery without knowing what I was getting myself into. -
Tired Of The "when Can You Have___ Again?" Questions
ourjonesfam replied to gustavo52974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To add another...when people see you eating something and they question you about whether you're allowed to have it...when did they become the expert all of a sudden? And I was just told today that if everyone would just follow the diet I'm on right now, everyone could lose weight easily. Who in here would honestly be able to eat 1/4 of a cup of food BEFORE surgery and feel satisfied? ..............Yeah, me neither. -
Tired Of The "when Can You Have___ Again?" Questions
ourjonesfam replied to gustavo52974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have occasional right now but people in general just thought I would turn into some egotistical (sp?) beeotch overnight and I would stop associating myself with everyone that was now bigger than me. It is ridiculous because before the surgery, I experienced being morbidly obese! I know how awful I felt and why would I EVER treat someone poorly is beyond me. I'm no better than anyone else! -

Be careful! Take lots of breaks and go slow if you need too! You might want to get with your surgeon about why you're so lightheaded! -

I got cabin fever too! I begged my doctor to go back to work LOL. I returned to work a few days shy of 3 weeks. -
Quwstions On Puree Food
ourjonesfam replied to phillygirl8133's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely understand how you feel! My goal right now with the nutritionist is to be under 200 lbs. I was told it would be around October when I got to that point. Seemed a little far off for the rate I'm losing. I was told that I should lose about 10 lbs/month. I don't know when the rapid loss slows down though. Just gotta keep going! -

Quwstions On Puree Food
ourjonesfam replied to phillygirl8133's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you eating super slow? Chewing it up until its mush? This helped me a lot. I've always been a fast eater and then end up stuffed because I never let my body tell me it was full. After slowing down, I get full after the 1/4 cup! -
I just have a hard time coming back out of the anesthesia but no major complications. This happens to me all the time. I also require meds for nausea. Anesthesia and I are NOT friends LOL.

Is It Just Me?
ourjonesfam replied to Ready4success's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely schedule ASAP because you want to have plenty of time to recuperate! I went back to work at almost 3 weeks post-op and I regret it. I was very tired and lethargic that entire week. I had a few co-workers get the surgery and had minor complications but were required to stay out of work for a full 6 weeks. An employer won't allow you back to work without the doctors clearance usually. I think the main thing is to determine just how much you want this. I think we all go through some sort of 'panic' stage where we questions everything. BUT...if you've gone through the entire process, I would assume you really wanted this change. The whole thing is scary but believe me...the longer you prolong it, the worse the anxiety will become. Just go for it and be on your way to the healthier you!! -
What Was It Like The First Day After Sleeve?
ourjonesfam replied to lglavish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not so good with anesthesia so it took me a while to wake up. It also took 3 different kids of meds to control the nausea. You will probably sleep the majority of the day as it will take the anesthesia about 6-8 hours to wear off. You will not eat or drink anything that first day. I did get up that night and walk the hallway up and back but that's all I could do. You won't be in pain because they'll have you on good meds! I was given morphine...the kind you could press for a dose but I hardly had to use it. -

How much did you lose pre-op? This is excellent progress! -
You're right. I mistyped.

You can also add the sugar free fruit spreads to it...like smuckers.

Worried About Pre-Op Weight Loss
ourjonesfam replied to Half~of~Bri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure he'll be proud of your weight loss at this point! Let me know if you want a walking buddy after you get your surgery! I like the greenway off of Branchview (Hwy 3) the best. Are there any other greenways around that you know of? Also, do you plan to go to the support group they have? I think it's the first Thursday of every month in the new Gateway building off of Copperfield. -
I was told the same thing. That and that caffeine irritates your stomach. I'm doing fine on decaf coffee and tea. I really dont notice much of a difference with decaf as everyone else is saying?
