I am a fellow northlander and was banded on March 15 by Dr. Malley. I have no regrets. Love every second of it. I have lost 22 pounds so far and looking forward to many more. I agree that a support group north of the river is a great idea. I know that Dr Malleys office has support group meetings the second Saturday of every month. It is open to the public, anyone that has been or is considering being banded can attended.

I am a true believer in Chantix. I started taking Chantix January 11 and my quit day was January 17. I have not smoke one time. I am now 10 weeks SMOKE FREE:clap2: . I have smoked for 22 years and have tried many times. It is amazing how great I feel and how much better I can breathe. I dont weeze at night when I sleep. There really are very few cravings for me. Just last week it appeared to me that I havent even thought about smoking in about 3 days. Not sure if your aware but Chantix website has an awesome support group that will either send you and email daily or make a phone call for support. It really helped me. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since being banded for me (03/15). Was wondering how everyone else was feeling. It is truly like a cloud has lifted after 10 or so days. Week one was ugly but then "BOOM" I felt so much better. I went to my Doc last Friday he said that I was off to a great start and upgraded me to soft foods for a week. Yeah I get to chew finally. He said to do that for a week then I could go on to regular foods. So now the challenge I find is to not over do it. I am suppose to only have 1/2 cup per meal and you know how your eyes are always bigger than your stomach. Unfortunally I have experienced the pain in my chest from not chewing well enough and over doing it and OMG!!!! Not so much fun. Well Good luck to all and Happy Weight LOSS!!!!!! Judi

I was banded 2 days ago. I had an overnight stay. Other than a little pain I feel great. Gas seems to be the only issue at this point. I do feel the gas in my upper left shoulder but nothing to bad. I just plan on taking it easy and returning to work in 2 days. Good Luck!!

I am also scheduled to be banded on March 15 by Dr. Malley in Mission Ks. I do have to add this is the best website I have ever found for support as well as information. If I ever had any questions, fears or concerns this is the place to go. I love all the support that you receive here. It's almost like I'm addicited to the updates on everyone. They are all very encouraging. Good Luck to all Judi KCMO To be Banded 03/15/07 (2 DAYS YEAH)!!! -
YEAH! Congrats to you. I also have taken the first step. I am going to be banded by Dr. Malley on Thursdsay of this week 03/15/07 and I just cant wait. Which doc is doing your band? If Dr Malley is not the one you went to for the seminar you might try checking him out. They have bandwagon meetings every month which is a support group for bandsters and people considering gettting banded. I have attended and loved it. It really helped me to make up my mind. :high5: Good luck and I will keep posting as I go as well. Judi To be banded 03/15 KCMO :clap2:

I am also a North of the River Mo gal. I am scheduled to be banded on March 15. I, just like you, I am soooo ready and so excited. It all hit me in September when I turned 39 that I really needed to start making some changes in my life and be on track to a healthy lifestyle by time I turned 40. Not sure why the big 40 is a life changer but boy it hit me like a ton of bricks. I stopped smoking almost 8 weeks ago (with the help of Chantix) and am now going to be banded this week. I have been researching gastro as well as lap band for all of 3 years now after battling my weight all of my life. We have always had insurance thru my husband's company and they would never approve weight lose surgery so I picked up myself through my employer January 1 and met with Dr. Malley January 24. I have been to his seminars as well as the band wagon meetings in his office. They were a great source of information. :clap2: This site is awesome for all people that are considering the band, it has given me hope and answered all the questions that you don't feel like you should or could ask in person. I would like some help with clear liquid diets. :faint: Any suggestions. I have no clue? Judi Will be banded 03/15/07
