French Fries?!
A New New Dawn replied to vanessa1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, good luck w/ the dinner rolls. Many banders have difficulty w/bread (myself included). I seem to be better w/ toast (tiny pieces, chewing well, and waiting between bites). I made some homemade banana bread and that was agony, even tiny pieces. Yet today I had 1/2 of a subway sandwich made on flatbread and did ok. Again, eating very slow. I do miss my bread at times but also know that is a good part of what got me to needing wls so I embrace not being able to eat it. Now that it has been a few months I no longer crave it like before. -
French Fries?!
A New New Dawn replied to vanessa1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sure can. Once in a while for a "treat" I will order a McDonald's hamburger kids meal. It is around 350 calories I believe for the whole meal and now they only have a very small container of fries with it. I eat healthy overall but once in a while I will have this as my meal and it doesn't blow my calories for the day. -

Woke Up Feeling So Fat!!
A New New Dawn replied to vmarlau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You just had surgery Oct. 1 ~ you are doing FABULOUS!!! Do you hear me ~ F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!! As women, we are hormonal too and struggle w/ our emotions from time to time. Losing 1-2 lbs per week is good and you are at the high end or exceeding that!!! Try to look at the positives. For me, I desperately want to find my winter ONE-derland but I find other goals or achievements to get excited about. For example, I started this journey with 150 lbs to lose. I now have 90 lbs to lose. For some reason, it excites me to think I have less than 100 lbs to lose now. So find things to Celebrate about your journey. Also, have you calculated your BMI? 30 lbs can make a big difference at improving that and your health!!! Go for a walk or get some exercise to get your endorphines and nature's feel good hormones flowing!! -

Severe Pain And Throwing Up
A New New Dawn replied to xxoxoheatheroxox's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yes, definitely listen to your surgeon. I have read others post as well that they didn't get full effects of fill right away and some have a couple weeks later. Otherwise, I would think that maybe something you ate last night got stuck and caused the agony. Many times after a stuck episode people revert to liquids for a day or two to let the stomach settle down. Did this happen right after eating? -
Stressed About Business Lunch

Definitely depends on your doctor's pre-op diet. My doctor allowed me to eat protein and a vegetable (one meal a day and protein drinks the others). But if only liquids, then try going w/ a soup. -

Banded June 5- Down 47 Lbs Since Surgery But Frustrated
A New New Dawn replied to shellvw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also, my dietician says I should be able to go 4-5 hours between meals; however, she advises me to have a snack in between (fruit, low fat cheese stick, nuts, etc) something healthy. I was finding it difficult to go that long and the small snack does the trick. Also, by maintaining that full feeling by having a small snack, I don't overeat as I can't even if I wanted to. You may want to try incorporating a small snack. The key she advised me though is to have a small planned snack. By planning it, it helps to keep you from grazing, you have it on hand and are more likely to choose a healthier alternative instead of reaching for whatever is available. Perhaps that would help. Also, I wonder if upping your calories a wee bit may help. My doctor and several people I have seen on this site were advised 1000-1200 calories. It's been working for me. I also have added walking and Zumba into my regime. I don't keep up with it religiously but do it as able and trying to incorporate it more. Good luck to you and as others have said, give yourself credit that you are doing well. We are all eager to drop the weight and when losing a couple pounds a week it feels slow sometimes. You are doing a great job!!! Now get that Halloween candy out of the house!!! If it isn't there you can't eat it! -
I agree that you may be eating too few calories. Also, I would definitely heed the advice above and complain to your surgeon. They need to be supportive of their patients. Now if you called every day I could see her being short or frustrated but legitimate calls there is no excuse! Good luck to you. I have been advised between 1000-1200 calories per day.

Hi Ho Off To The Potty I Go.......

Although it must be a bit embarrassing w/ the boss in plain view, you have nothing to feel bad about. "It is what is it". Enjoy this week and holiday. Try not to stress about the pound you want to lose as your family time and the holidays are much more important. It will happen when you least expect it. Definitely the TOM may be playing havoc on that as well. I know I am stuck or up a pound or two during that time. -

Day 2 Post Op And Need Help!
A New New Dawn replied to mommyvega3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is hard to get enough liquids down the first several days until the swelling starts to go down. I did soup broths, cream soup bases, tea, Water with the mio flavor enhancer, Protein drinks, and even plain milk since it has protein (when I could stomach protein drinks). As you begin healing more it will get easier to get fluids down. Hang tight, relief is on the way. -

Me and my daughters! Mom power walked and they ran. By the end of the day my friend's pedometer said we walked almost 7 miles (to and from hotel, the 5k, etc). before64.bmp -
