  1. Like Minimi said, they are essentially the same but often high in sodium. If you can make your own, I always prefer that taste wise.

Do you wake in night w terrible pain?

I hope you were able to contact your doctor about this. Please let us know what they say. Hope all is well.

    helppp

It may be many things. However, you mentioned a boiled egg. I do not do well with boiled or scrambled eggs. You may find there are foods that you cannot eat any longer or need to prepare differently. When I get the burping it is usually my first sign that I am getting "stuck" or having difficulty w/ the food I am eating. After that happens I often have to keep to soft foods for a day or two and then I am fine. Since you had this since the egg, you may want to do a day of liquids or mushies then soft foods and in a couple days resume eating regularly. I have to think it may just be that boiled eggs are no longer your "friend". It seems odd because they are "soft" but they just don't work for me. I think eating them over medium does since they are softer and the liquid from the yolk helps them go down easier. Good luck to you!

    need an unfill??!??

After having "stuck moments" it can be irritated to where you have trouble w/ any solid foods. Many people do liquids or mushies for a day or two after being "stuck" and then resume solid foods.

    need an unfill??!??

I agree with Missy. Also, what I have noticed for me is this last fill I thought I was too tight (even after a slight unfill) and I realized I just needed to tweak/refine my eating habits even more. As we get more restricted we need to be very diligent about taking very small bites, chewing, pausing, etc. There are a couple foods I do not tolerate (scrambled eggs - though regular over easy are ok, and some breads). Aside from refining my eating, this last time I felt I needed another unfill, I stuck to liquids, mushies and soft foods for a couple days then resumed with eating smaller pieces, etc. I found I didn't need an unfill and it was just irritated from overdoing it after the fill. By doing liquids and soft foods for a couple days to let things settle. So I wasn't actually needing an unfill and had just irritated it with some scrambled eggs I had eaten. I never did get anymore removed and am doing well now. So to make a short story long (I am good at that), try taking it easy a couple days and then make sure to do tiny bites, waiting, chewing, etc and if you are still getting stuck perhaps a slight unfill is in order. At any point if you are feeling uncomfortable please consult your WLS for true medical advice. Good luck and best wishes to you.

Swallowed (my pride) & Went Back to My WLS and ....

I am so glad you saw your wls and are feeling "normal". Remember to stay on track though. Someone I work with has a leak in his band so currently has no restriction. He was telling me about eating gyros, whoppers and gaining weight. SMH, as he is losing control of himself. I am happy to hear you are doing well!
  7. Also, make sure you are getting in enough liquids each day. I wasn't and that has helped me tremendously by upping my intake.

    Port Incision Painful and Hard

Yes, that is the one that takes the longest to heal. It will be sore longer and be more painful than others. I don't think mine felt ok for at least a month or more. Even at my six week appt, the doc reassured me I still had swelling and it would get better. Again, feel free to call doc. Hope your recovery is going well.

    Leaving tonight to get banded:)

Best wishes to you. You will do great. I felt really good post-op and was able to get around. Congrats on your surgery. Let us know how it went.

    Band on Wednesday!!!

Also, I would recommend trying out the Protein drinks now if you haven't already. When you are healing you want to have things on hand that aren't horrible. Personally, the Protein Drinks I don't care much for so my nutritionist also recommend no sugar added (comes in blue box or carton) carnation instant Breakfast, mix it with 1 c skim milk and 3T fat free powdered milk for extra protein (it is like 20 g) and I really liked the chocolate. I still drink it at times. The next few days may be rough but it is sooooo worth it. Congrats and good luck on your surgery.

    Insurance question

I see no harm in going through with it. Once it is approved, it isn't like you have to do it immediately. Also, many people that do it find they request more information from you or the doctor, etc. so I think getting that process rolling would be in your best interest. Good luck on getting it approved.

    So sad

As all the previous posters said, you got this and surrounding yourself w/ positive people is what you need to do. It sounds like you have had some toxic situations w/ the bf, family, etc. You are a grown woman and know what is right for you. Please don't let this discourage you. It isn't right that she is trying to guilt you or punish you. Be strong, you have done the prep, done your research and came to this decision for yourself. Amazing many of the non-supporters are the ones that come around later after they see results.... Please find positive people to surround yourself with as Floridays said. We will get that Chicago area group of banders together so we can all be supportive of one another. Please fee free to PM anytime you would like to talk. I would be happy to listen. You can do this!!! Hugs!!

    My mother is dead.

Wow, Chez that is horrible. Truly, if I don't like someone's reply or something they post, I move on to another one. Kind of like Alex said earlier....You have helped me on many ocassions and always given me straightforward advice and for that I am grateful. So sorry someone could be so hateful.

    I feel guilty :0(

You are giving yourself and your family the gift of a healthier mom and one that will be around longer and likely happier. This is a gift! Your health is a priority. Good luck to you. I am sure it has been a challenging decision but well worth it.

    yikes, night hunger!! what's up?

Are you eating solid Protein? Make sure you are getting 3-4 ounces of solid protein in for each meal as that will help. Also, my NUT allows Snacks (healthy, planned) ones between meals. My guess if you are doing all that and still hungry you may just need a fill or it may be head hunger. My NUT also recommends for me if I am hungry to drink something as that often will appease what I feel is hunger. Congrats on your success thus far and to your continued success.

    Keeping it a secret

Once you get your insurance squared away, ask your surgeon how the billing will work. My insurance covered most of it but I was a bit taken aback when his office called the week before and said his bill needed to be paid before surgery. Thankfully it was only a few hundred dollars so I was able to manage, was just surprised.

    Any Ideas

During my mushy stage, my doctor had me puree my food too so I took what my family was having for dinner and put it in blender w/ some sort of liquid (salsa, broth, etc). The only thing they didn't have me puree during this time was cottage cheese or scrambled eggs. My doctor also has me do this after a fill. (liquids day 1, mushy day 2). Enjoy being able to eat. It may look less than delicish coming out of blender but it usually tastes good.

    Final Hours

Congrats and kudos to you for preparing some yummies ahead. Homemade broth far outweighs the canned/boxed stuff! Good wishes your way and enjoy your new journey. The best is yet to come.

    Keeping it a secret

Hi there. You absolutely can keep it from nosey coworkers. I have told a couple in my immediate area but there are other nosey ones (in HR and payroll of all things) that it is none of their business. People have noticed me losing weight and I just say I am watching what I'm eating (which is a factual statement). You don't need to tell anyone that you don't want to know. This is your journey and your life, taking control of how you wish to move forward is good for you (whether you wish to share or not is your decision). I am very happy for you and truly, no one that I don't want to know knows. They have noticed the weight loss. Also, I was in a couple lunch situations where someone questioned why I was eating so slow. I told her I wanted to enjoy my lunch and that I wasn't feeling all that well (which I actually wasn't) and that was it. Good luck on your journey and I wish you much success. As for being intimate. I am still 224 lbs, so still another almost 100 lbs to lose (gulp) but I have lost 60 lbs already and don't notice it. All I have noticed is an improved sex life as I have more confidence, not as tired, and physically more able.
