Your hubby knows we're right! Good luck at your appt. -
Relax... (I mean that nicely). I know you are frustrated; however, I think sticking w/ your surgeon's plan of seeing your primary doctor is key. I think if your surgeon felt that would help you or was necessary he/she would have suggested that. Please go see your pcp. Maybe you have strep or something and need some antibiotics.

Your overall health is far more important than a fill right now. I hope your primary doc offers you some relief from your ailments. -

well, hmmm... let us know what dr. says -
This is so true and a great reminder. Sometimes rather than focusing on what we can't do or our limitations, we need to focus on what we can do. I cannot run marathons, but I can walk. I cannot eat most breads, but I can eat many other delicious and more nutritious foods, etc... There are always alternatives and even the worst experiences are opportunities for us to grow and learn from!

MsRhonda, you were recently banded and it takes many weeks for the port site to feel comfortable. You may need to find other positions to sleep in for a few more weeks until that is healed more. I had to put a thin pillow under the side of my tummy and sleep on my side for a while. However, if you are unsure or it's more than discomfort, you may want to consult your doctor's office. -
That's awesome AJ!!! You look great in your profile pic too. I am so proud of you and hope I am that successful too.

So happy for you.

Thinking of switching to a sleeve
A New New Dawn replied to banded121512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perhaps if you cannot meet with the surgeon now $ you can meet with a nutrionist who works with banded patients. I think you would get a lot out of it or find a local support group. -
Thinking of switching to a sleeve
A New New Dawn replied to banded121512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think your food choices may be it too. You are mentioning sandwiches and burritos, etc... tortillas and bread do not work for many of us. I will get stuck with both. So now if I want a burrito I have it without the tortilla. If I want a sandwich I can sometimes do it with a thin piece of a heavier bread like multigrain or if I toast it. Also you should try to focus on getting 3-4 ounces of protein first, such as moist meat, lean ground meat, etc then veggies. Cut out the breads as it gives little to no nutrition and has more likelihood of getting stuck. You will get this figured out. Lastly, Jean McMillan who posted here earlier and Alex the founder of LBT each have books on the band. They may be helpful. Hang in there. -
Considering the "Advise of Others"
A New New Dawn replied to Sojourner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the reminder Sojo. This is great advise. -
Glad it wasn't too horrific! Funny, how we learn. I had that happen. I ate then promptly left in the car to pick up my friend 2 miles away. Ate too fast and we were heading to the gym. All of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks and I didn't think I would get to her house fast enough. Embarrassing to get there and go flying in the door up the stairs to her bathroom. It's now a joke between us that I go to her house to throw up. Ah, the life of a bandster.

Rock on!! Doing great!

Look online too for healthy recipes. I have found a lot of great ones there. I like many of the recipes on emilybites.com and many are made in cupcake pans so they are perfectly portioned. I made her lasagna "cupcakes" that were good. I also like quinoa and it has a lot of nutrients (incl protein) and you eat it much like rice. I also like chili quite a bit too.

That is frickin awesome Cheryl!!! I'm very happy for you. Congratulations. -
That would be a bummer but know that it is all for your own benefit. Your overall health is far more important than risking surgery if you have something else going on. Best wishes it all works out.

Any bandsters in WI ? Newly banded looking for a mentor
A New New Dawn replied to drmrdave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes it's a challenge to find local people; however, I encourage you to post any questions/concerns, etc here and you will find a lot of supportive people to share this journey with. -
As much as we all want to hurry things up, this 6 months is a great time to really get your head in the game, work on new habits, and get prepared. It will make the world of difference after you are banded. I wish I would have done more work and lifestyle modifications pre-banding as I was in for a big awakening post-banding. nonetheless, it's all worth while.

You've done all the hard work. So glad you are feeling more confident and more comfortable....

Sliming led to Band unfill
A New New Dawn replied to Sassy0822's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many of us cannot eat breads as they get stuck. I can eat it in very small quantities and with other foods but when I try to have a piece of toast by itself it doesn't work so well. Though, having a hot cup of tea or coffee beforehand seems to help if I am really just wanting a piece of toast by itself.
