About Me

  • Biography
Hi - I am 45 and had my 1st lap surgery July 2008, the 2nd Aug 2008 - that's what happens when you don't follow the doctors orders and lift too much too soon. I had a prolapse in April 2011 and a revision Sept 2011. What a journey we are on!!!

About Me

I started this journey July 14, 2008 in Cheyenne, WY entering the hospital at 260 lbs and BMI of 40+. Because I'm a stubborn fool at times - I returned to work before the doctor released me and tore my port loose - thus surgery again in August 2008. After that things went well between August 2008 and August 2011, I dropped to 165 lbs! It was great the energy, being happy to look in the mirror and even crying in the dressing room when my daughters picked out an outfit for me and it looked amazing!

But I was now dropping weight so fast and couldn't stop - finally I went back to the doctor - to make my family happy - I didn't want' to go back, I was happy losing the pounds. Sadly -we found that my stomach had prolapsed. In September 2011 they completely emptied the band hoping that my stomach would fall back through the band - it didn't. So in October 2011 surgery again to move the band and correct the prolapse. Since that day at 161lbs I have gained back up to 227 lbs. Until my appointment this week - I have had no restriction and sadly could eat just about anything I wanted.

I'd like to blame this on the band (my friend let me down) but I know it is because I had not made the life style changes that I need to make. I do not want to look/feel like this - so I am back trying to really focus on what is going into my mouth and it is a million times harder this time then it was the first time.

Luckily I do have a life other then lap band!!! I have three wonderful kids - Katy 25, Tris 20 and Ky 13 and two of the most handsom grandsons Kaden 3 and Ryker 10 mo - so I am incredibly blessed. I have a solid career - with lots of job security - I work in prison! I live in the great state of Wyoming - where if one is willing to look for it and drive to it you can do most anything some place.
