  1. So frustrated not sure what to think. Had the sleeve done July 2012 and I'm down 66lbs. Have a co-worker who had the bypass in Oct and she's already down 90lbs. Thing is, I have two co-worker who had the bypass and I feel like they don't eat...like EVER. And here I am,able to eat and etc but losing SLOW...where am I going wrong?!
  2. So I'm here at work CRAMPING like no ones business. Motrin and Advil were my go to prior to surgery but now I don't know what to use. Please help before I kill someone today...
  3. Okay guys, at week seven and started this week with nausea. Haven't had any until now so unsure if this is my stomach finally waking up?
  4. So I'm six weeks out and dying for a salad...what's the time frame?
  5. Went for my one month follow up and I'm down 31lbs...so excited. However, my MD released me from purees and set me free onto a "normal"diet. Thing is, I'm scared shirtless to eat now...so used to eat the things I've been working on. Anyone else feel like this?
  6. Seems like no one understands what I'm going through so of course I turn to you guys. Having a rough day at work... Been trying to stay included during lunch time with my co-workers so I'm still "eating" with them. Got lost in the moment and ate too fast and scared the crap out of myself. Pain, vomiting, hot flash. And they all looked at me like I lost my mind. Have to say..not my best moment.
  7. Today is my second day at work after my surgery on the 30th and it's kicking my butt. Wasn't this tired when I was at home but feeling so run down and besides myself. I'm a Medical Assistant at a Pediatric clinic and to take it easy my manager has let me do phone calls this week. Can emotional stimulation be just as exhausting??!!

    Question

First and foremost, make sure you're following your surgery and NUT's guidelines. Mine moved me over to pureeds at two weeks and so thicker things like pudding, yogurt and tomato soup were within the limits.

    Back Pain

I had back pain severely when I got home from the hospital. Looking back now I'm convinced it was due to being forced to sleep on my back while in the hospital and the first few days home. I'm a side sleeper so I was a mess. I would literally get close to the kitchen counter since its waist high and then lean my elbows for some relief. I also found that sitting in chairs with high backs and sitting completely back helped me out...good luck, hope this helps..
  10. So as I'm making my transition to eating some pureeds I'm running into a new physical difference I hadn't discovered until now. It's like my body doesn't know how to hiccup anymore. I go into this weird burp like stance and then I have this pain and have to brace myself for this newfound hiccup?! Anyone else out there feeling as silly as I do?
  11. First and foremost, do not panic. I'm right there with u. I'm so excited about my pureeds that I am treating them like my meals. I'm doing one about an hour after I've had my protein shake and then again at "lunch" and "dinner" time. Keeping in mind that fluids are the biggest aspect still of our days. So make sure to drink in between the mini meals as your sleeve tolerates it. I've found that since starting pureeds it takes me longer to eat and then I'm full longer and several ppl have said it's normal to take some time to find balance...you'll be fine!!! You're doing great!!
  12. My Md and Nut both gave me a guideline to make sure to avoid dehydration as much as possible. The rule was to try to drink 4oz of fluids every hour. We're so used to gulping down all our drinks that this seemed silly to me at first. Try to slow down and take it easy on ur system. Alternate what you're taking in too...that helped me stay on track. Good luck and keep us posted...
  13. Okay so here's the thing. I was sleeved on Monday, July 30th and everything has been normal. Been fine, feeling great despite the gas pain and etc. Went to my post-op yesterday and was cleared to bring in some pureeds. Left there and went out with family to have breakfast and decided to try an egg. Went down fine and seemed okay. Then as the day progressed, started to have killer chest and stomach pain. Checked online and it said most likely gas pain. Then out of no where I was overcome with chills to a point where I had to put on sweats, socks, under shirt, and sweat shirt...and still get under two blankets. Went to bed with 99.3 and then woke back up around 2 a.m.with a temp of 101.1!! Took some of the layers off and seemed okay. Have been on Heparin shots until yesterday so wondering if anyone else has had anything like this happen? Keep in mind I live in Ga so putting on all that clothes has everyone else thinking I'm crazy....
  14. Ft.Worth..u have to do three weeks liquid?
  15. Went to my one week post-op and doing great. Down sixteen pounds and moving onto some pureeds and then my MD said I could go to pureeds totally this weekend at the end of my two weeks. So excited...
