Your surgeon would of charged say 5,300 the procedure. He would of claimed his rebate back from Medicare electronically and then charged you the co payment/ gap.... Hope this helps -

Hi Shell. I work for Medicare. There is no refund on in hospital gap payments. Your gap payments are your out of pocket expense and cannot be refunded/subsidised from PH or Medicare. You can however claim 20% back. of all out of pocket expenses over 2,000 when you do your tax return -

Easier said than done though. I was really worried about it but then it just happened. I found the coloxyl took at least 24 hours to work. Then when I did go. It was like....is that all? Haha -

Don't stress. It will happen I was so worried about it too... How many coloxyl did you take? You can take up to 4 tablets. Go easy though cause next thing you will have diarrhea. I had one bm on day 5, one on day 11 and again on day 15. As long as your not in pain? just let nature run its course -

Argh yes. I had the very same issue Although quite regular now, initially I only had 3 BM's within 15 days. I took some tablets called Coloxyl with Senna. Available at chemist without prescription. Worked a treat -

Hi Susie, welcome to the forum. The gas and surgery are all part of the package unfortunately. I experienced gas pain but only in my upper diaphragm. Nothing in my shoulders, however, all of my friends had shoulder pain. The only thing I can suggest is too take your pain relief and walk as much as you can as soon as you can. Preferably a few hours after op. Hopefully your cold won't stick around too long. Are you on full liquids or 2 opti and 1 meal per day? If its the latter you could probably still have your chicken soup -

Hi Lozzad. I know what you mean. First week post op and I was watching every cooking show in TV. food was everywhere. The sight, sound and smell of it... It does get easier. One day at a time. I'm 25 days post op. Good luck with your recovery. -

Thanks puppyphat. That's actually the first time I've ever eaten tofu. It will be the last Glad your liquid is going down better. Each day does get easier... All trial and error for awhile -

No vomiting, although I felt as though I was going to. My intestines / stomach were churning and then I got a severe bout of diarrhea. Not pleasant. I'm not sure about that but lets just say at this stage I'm not going to eat two foods again It might be totally unrelated but I have been eating exactly the same foods each day for the past 11 days. Just thought I would add some tofu last night, followed by a couple of chews and boy did I pay for it. -
It is very exciting. I agree. I was expecting to feel a lot worse after surgery but thought it wasn't all that bad. Its on and up from here. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I'm 25 days post op and feel great. Been back at work since day 12 and energy levels are in the up

Yes, my stomach makes all sorts of noises. Yesterday at work. The office was so quiet as there were only a few if us there and in the silence all I could hear were these weird sounds coming from stomach :/ Definitely take Multivitamin as may help with energy levels. I know we are watching calories but lets face it, we simply cannot eat/ drink what we used to. For a quick Protein fix, I'm going to suggest Feel Good 375ml ice coffee. Its 157 calories (so on par with most other shakes), 15grams of protein , 1.9 grams fat and 19.5grams carbs. I know the carbs sounds high but when liquid is your only food source, I think this drink is perfect. Kept it icey cold and it goes down really well. I got sick last night. Really bad upset stomach. It was either the tofu I ate or the 2 sugar fee chews. Either way I'm steering clear of both of those. -

No it went down ok. It tasted sweeter than usual. I've been pretty lucky with food. Not much upsets my stomach. Oh yes, I love kalamata olives with cheese. I almost bought a 3 olive dip yesterday but decided against it. How are you feeling? -

I'm going to wait at least 2 yrs to see how it all pans out (apparently can take up to two years for skin to 're-mould' itself but yeah if I have too flabby arms or stomach, it is definitely something I would consider. My friend had it done. He went from 148kg-78kg and had a tummy tuck. Made a huge difference to appearance and self confidence. -

My Snacks are:- Cheese - Bega so slim slices Clix biscuits Deli meat (ie shaved turkey/chicken) Soleil yoghurt Canned tuna In fact the above, aside from the odd jar of baby food are my staple diet. I feel like I'm eating way too much but when I record everything I eat in a day, I'm not eating much at all. Less than 500 calories and thats with my Protein shake. I've become absolutely obsessed with Protein, carb and fat content of any food. It kinda frustrates me that I've become so fussy. Its a good thing but I don't want to completely deprive myself when I'm eating so little anyway. Hope that makes sense I've been a bit frustrated with not being able to have a decent meal, a normal portion. I think the reason why it frustrates me is because I eat so little but cant see any weightloss yet. Anyway I'll just keep plodding along. I'm away for work for 5 wks and there are no scales in the hotel so fingers crossed I get a nice surprise when I next weigh in. -

Set a timer/alarm. It works absolute wonders. I set my timer on my phone to go off every 10 or 15 minutes. This reminds me to have a drink. -
