Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Omg! The burping is driving me insane Everytime I drink, its followed by 5 burps. I'm actually worried that I'm drinking to much liquid but when I think about it, I only have say 4 tablespoons of vitamised soup or an up and go (which last 2 hours). Think I'm just being paranoid .

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hi guys. Just dropping by to say I'm feeling great! Day 7 post op and aside from a slight stretch in one incision site every now and then, I'm actually back to normal. Actually, I'm better than normal. I feel happy, content and so much more energetic. I'm going to credit my surgeon Dr Michael France for my speedy recovery. I'm so looking forward to moving to the puree diet but in saying that I'm not finding the liquid diet all that tough either. I am able to keep up my daily fluid intake without the nasty wind pains I was experiencing 3days ago. I think about red frogs ...a lot ...but only because they are my ultimate lolly I love the smell of food cooking but don't actually crave it. Its such a weird feeling that I cant quite describe. I started taking metamucil today as things in that department aren't really happening. Was a bit worried it might bulk my stomach too much so only drank half a serve. Will see how it goes. Well that's about it I think. Feeling great and no regrets. Have a great day everyone

    Let's Try This Again...shall We?

Firstly, I think its so sad the way us 'fat people perceive ourselves. I read your story then I looked at your photo and thought 'what the hell?'. The photo doesn't match the story. We are our worst critics! I totally understand where you are coming from. When I announced that I was having surgery, most responses were 'why? your not THAT big'. I had to refrain from answering because my list of why's is a metre long. At the end of the day its about how we feel. I wish you all the best with your approval. I am 6 days post op and have no regrets whatsoever. I'm excited for the future. Now that alone is a feeling I haven't felt for quite some years. Keep us posted on your progress. I'm Michelle 37, 5'4, starting weight 93kilo, weight now 89kilo. Goal weight 63kilo

Some Dr's may use steri strips? Yeah there is no bruising around them and I usually bruise quite easily.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

No not much at all. I cant actually see them as the bandaids are glued on top. Dr says they should eventually fall off by my 2week post op appt on August 8th. I have attached a picture of one of them. That's the biggest one where the excess stomach was taken out. The others are half that size.

I actually didnt have that. Neither did other friends I know who have had this procedure, however, I have read a lot of stories where it is routine. Must depend on the Dr? I hear its not real pleasant

    Nausea

Try going back to your liquid diet. May be a case of too much too soon? How long was your doctors directive for in relation to fluids? My post op Fluid diet is 2 weeks.

    July 25Th Rollcall?

Hi from Australia. I too was sleeved on July 25th. Surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The worst pain for me was gas pain which was lodged under my breast bone. This has now subsided. I was mobile from day one. I spent two nights in hospital (standard procedure), 5 small incision sites, no drain etc. Since coming home, I have felt so much better. The hospital beds are not very comfy. The only pain I am experiencing now is from taking too big of sips of fluid Like literally my stomach only wants a teaspoon of liquid at any one time. Other than that I am totally excited. Liquids for 2 weeks, purees 2 weeks after that and then I move onto soft foods

    Getting Out Of Bed

I think you will be quite surprised at just how easy it is to move around after your surgery. Understandably there will be aches and pains but these really are minimal. The more movement the quicker the healing process . Hospital beds are awful as is having to lay on your back for long periods of time. I'm 3 days post op. Got home yesterday and feel 90% better than what I did in hospital. I have my comfy lounge and got plenty of sleep last night.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

I'm actually feeling surprisingly good. I've no pain from the actually incisions as such. The most annoying thing has been the waves of gas pain and bouts of constant burping. Each day it is becoming less and less, which is good. And when they say you can only sip they really do mean it . All trial and error I guess

    Food 1St Week

I'm 3 days post op. First two days were clear fluids only. Since being discharged yesterday my doctor has advised me to start a high protein liquid diet. As user above said, the high protein assists wound healing, builds immunity against infections and helps to keep lean muscle mass. Mind you being day 3 post op, I cannot achieve 49-50grams of protein per day as I am only drinking 600ml of liquid.

That's fair enough. I guess one thing to watch out for is that if you need to stay in hospital longer than the usual 2-3 day stay, you'll be looking at around an extra $1,000 a night. Good luck with everything
