  1. I tell everyone exactly how it is. Speaking the truth is much easier than going along with a false story. Even when I returned to work, people asked why I wasn't joining in with morning tea etc. I just told them straight out "I had wls two weeks ago and my diet is restricted for awhile". Most people are intrigued and I love sharing my story. I am proud that I made this decision to change my life for the better. Unless you tell not one single person, someone is bound to tell someone else (unintentionally of course) but someone always lets the cat out of the bag (so to speak). But in answer to your question...In my Dr notes, he says that if you don't want to tell anyone it was wls, you can say it was a hiatal hernia repair as the op and recovery are fairly much the same. Good luck with whatever decision you make

Starting My Stage 3 Puree Ideas Please?

Hi Marie, I am in the same stage. I eat organic baby food. Usually get the ones that are for 6-8mth olds. Not only are they nutritionally good but they taste surprisingly good too. I only manage half a jar/pouch at any one sitting. Sometimes less. I've had bolognaise, beef/carrot/potato & chicken/leek/potato. I warm them in the microwave and add a sprinkle of salt. They do not give me any unwanted side effects and my hunger is completely satisfied as it feels like I've just enjoyed a hot meal. I've tried scrambled eggs , cooked fish and raw salmon but none of these sit very well for me. My Dr defines puree as any soft food that can be chewed to a pureed consistency before swallowing. Mashed potato & pumpkin with gravy. Cereal completely softened with milk, low fat yoghurt/pudding, cottage cheese, tinned tuna, nutritious Soups (ie chicken and veg - blended). I'm 17 days post op. Hope this helps

It could be what your eating as well? Are you usually ok with cheese and noodles? or does this happen regardless of what you eat?. If I eat eggs or cooked fish, I get the same symptoms, so I avoid those foods for now. Its not nice

    Burps?

Belching is normal due to reduced stomach size. The smell could be due to the fact your body has hit Ketosis. As we are on a very low carb diet, our bodies hit Ketosis. This causes bad breath and a range of other symptoms. I have attached a link for your reference. If you are still concerned , consult your doctor . http://diet.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Ketosis_Symptoms
  7. 18 days post op and not a single regret. Sure, there's been a few bumps along the way but they are short lived. If I feel this good 18 days out, I'm looking forward to feeling absolutely awesome in 4 months time. Dealing mentally with the fact that my portion sizes have decreased by 90% has been and continues to be the biggest hurdle for me. However, I no longer want to stuff my face with all the wrong foods all day long, to end up feeling bloated and lethargic and fatter. I eat less, I eat healthier, I'm way more energetic and I feel amazingly good. Not a single regret. Good luck with whatever path you choose. Starting weight 205 pounds. Weight now 193. Goal weight 134. Height 5"4

    Muscle Milk

I'm 18 days post op and my calorie intake is 600-800. Dr says to keep it more around 600 for optimal weightloss. Average days food :- organic baby food (half a 170 gram jar = 80cal) Very low fat sliced cheese (27 cal per slice) Canned tuna (about 30 grams = 70 cal) low fat/low sugar yoghurt (70 cal per tub) 2x 250ml ProteinFX shakes per day (139 cal each)

Hi aussiekellof, I'm the same. My mouth is always dry. Almost as if I am dehydrated even though I drink nearly 2 litres of Fluid a day. A dry mouth is a symptom of ketosis. Ketosis is a result of a low carb diet. It also causes bad breath and a heap of other symptoms. Refer link below for further info. Hope this helps http://diet.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Ketosis_Symptoms

Thanks for the link Susie. I'm definitely going to get myself one of those portion plates. I handled my food a lot better today. Just kept telling myself that I don't need anymore food. It seemed to work, so I'll try it again tomorrow. Today's diet: 250ml feel good iced coffee 250ml ProteinFX shake 4 slices of Bega so slim cheese (high Protein, very low carbs and very low fat) Half jar organic bolognaise baby food 2 clix biscuit with cottage cheese & tuna on top Water throughout the day

I'm finding it really tough to control my portion size. I'm constantly taking one mouthful too many and ending up in all sorts of pain for at least an hour Any tips? I'm trying to only make what I think I can eat but my mind is obviously way off. I think I can eat 100grams fish when really I can only physically eat 40grams. This stage is really hard to get used to...

Oh I sure did The egg and raw salmon didn't sit too well and made me burp a lot. The clix are great. Dr said they are fine as they melt in your mouth. And I actually really enjoyed the baby food which was organic bolognaise.. Its hard to learn when enough is enough. I'm always tempted to take that extra bite but it ends up being one bite too many Enjoy your salmon and avocado. Sounds yum.

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hi everyone. Well today I had my 2 wk post op appt. Told my Dr that I was disappointed with the weightloss. Started at 93k, 88k now. He said I'm crazy and that given my starting weight , a drop of 5k in 2 weeks is pretty good. So I just have to hang in there. Dr was happy with my recovery and I told him that I went back to work 3 days early. Started food today. I've had a scrambled egg, 30g of raw salmon, 2 clix biscuits with cottage cheese and half a jar of baby food. This of course was all spread out between 7am - 6pm. Dr said I could eat all if the above plus deli meats, mashed veg, yogurt etc. Any soft food that breaks down more when chewed. I will continue to have 1 Protein shake per day as there is no way I could get the required Protein intake on such little food. Hope everyone is doing great
