    Can't Live Without It...

For my dad (aka - The Gadget King) it's more a matter of "wow - that's cool, let's try it!" I know the shopping networks love him -- he's probably one of their best customers. I think he sets his alarm for 2 am when all the infomercials are on and then sits there with his phone just waiting to find something new to buy! :faint:

    Food Crazies!

Born and raised in New Castle County, huh? That's cool! It is very nice to meet another Delawarean on here! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one . I had my kids at St. Francis but I work for Christiana now. Where did you go to school? I went to Corpus Christi, St. Anthony's and Padua and for college I went to U of D and Del-Tech. I'm glad to hear you don't have the same weight restrictions my Blue Cross did, that's a stress you don't have to worry about! You can definitely do this, just as you have planned, get re-focused on really watching what you eat and taking your small bites and chewing, chewing, chewing, and chewing some more! :hungry: You can definitely get those 8 pounds back off and I bet you lose even more before your preop! Good luck!

    Countdown to Onederland!

I am on the East Coast, Delaware to be exact. I am going for another fill on Thursday - yay! - I'm eating more than I should be, but somehow I lost another 2 pounds, finally. WooHoo! I'm at 222 now, and can't even remember the last time I was this close to Onederland. . . maybe 13 years ago at my wedding?!?! Anyway, Jen, you can do this! I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, and also, congratulations on joining WW! That's a great step in the right direction and the Core plan pretty much follows along with what we're supposed to be eating. And, to all of the new "Road to Onederland" peeps that have joined this thread, welcome, it's nice to *meet* you all, and WE CAN DO IT!!! :clap2:

    Food Crazies!

Hi there! You might want to check and make sure your insurance does not have a weight requirment. What I mean is, my insurance required me to be at or less than the weight I was at when I started my required Lap-Band classes. My surgeon also gave a handout saying he would cancel the surgery if you gained 20 lbs or more. I know with my insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) they have no problem cancelling your surgery if you don't follow your preop diet/eating plan and you gain any weight. They have denied people for 1/4 of a pound gain. Some of the other people in the class didn't have those same weight requirements through their insurance, but most all of them had the same surgeon as I did so they had to follow his guidelines. I know it is very difficult to not have that "last supper" mentality -- just remember, you will still be able to eventually eat most of the foods that you enjoy (some people even eat ALL of their favorite foods) -- you will just be eating less of it and really, once you have restriction, you'll be surprised at how satisfied you are with a lesser amount! Hang in there and try to focus on how much better you're going to feel after you get your surgery and start your new banded lifestyle, you can do it!! :clap2:

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Hi! I haven't posted on this thread before, but I got the VG 10 band on 12-11-06 and thought I'd share my "fill history" wtih this band. From what I understand, my surgeon is pretty aggressive with his fills. Of course, he has been doing WLS for the past 15 years and is the surgeon who the other surgeons train with to get their specialty. (My mom had the RNY by him 3 years ago and has done great with it -- she's lost 168 pounds and has kept it all off.) I got 2 cc in my band during the surgery, which after 2 weeks when the swelling was gone, I had NO restriction -- I was dying on my 4 weeks of liquids only after my surgery! I asked for a fill at my 2 week post op and they told me no, I couldn't get another fill till I was 6 weeks out. So, at the end of January I got my first in-office fill. Normally he gives 5 cc at that visit but because I was so hungry he gave me 6 cc, bringing me up to 8 cc in my band. He had to do an unfill because as I was drinking the water after each swallow I would burp! He said that happens when there's too much in there. So he took out 1 cc, leaving me with 7 cc in my 10 cc band. Restriction was good for a few weeks, then, I was getting sooo hungry again. I went back for another fill and this time before she (a different surgeon) filled me she pulled out what was in the band -- there should have been 7 cc, and she was only able to pull out 5 cc -- so she gave me 2 cc more, putting me back up to 7 cc. Two weeks later I was back again and they gave me 0.5 cc, which made a huge difference and up until about three weeks ago was great. Now, I have 7.5 cc in my band and my appetite and portion size have increased, which means I need another fill. I still have restriction, just not as much as I need. I go back next week for another and we'll see what I get then. They did tell me that in the first year it is common to need anywhere from 2-6 fills. This will be my 4th in-office fill, hopefully I've not "lost" any of the 7.5 cc that should be in there. They're supposed to be checking that too since I "lost" 2 cc a few months ago.

    Can't Live Without It...

The instant Pasta maker "as seen on TV" is a joke! We got one and the pasta didn't cook all the way and then, it stuck to the inside of the container. We scraped it all out and cleaned it up and then we tried it a second time thinking maybe we missed a step in the directions or something, but nope, it did the exact same thing the second time, so it ended up in the garbage.

    Countdown to Onederland!

Hi guys! Well, it looks like so far I'm the farthest way from Onederland at 224! :faint: Fortunately, I'm going back for a fill next week so hopefully that will get me jump started again! I know I'm due because my last one was six weeks ago and I'm starting to get HUNGRY again, and I noticed my portion size has increased so. . . .back for another fill I go. This will be my 4th one! I believe the treadmill is also calling my name (well, actually, I guess it's more like screaming at me to get my butt on there :biggrin1: ) anyone else procrastinate with the exercising? By the way, this thread was a great idea, and good luck to everyone! :clap2:

    Am I Alone Here

Hi Lee, Wow, you are much further South than me. I'm up on the outskirts of Wilmington. Some of the ladies in my Lap-Band group were from down state, waaaaay down state, which was a bit of a surprise. Apparently CHRIAS is pretty much the only game in town anymore. The next closest doc up this way is at Crozer-Chester. I know there's a Maryland doc too, but I think he may be around the Baltimore area. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for the good wishes, and send the same, best of luck to you with everything!
