This Is Frustrating As All Heck....
yukonmomma replied to leprechaunmomma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cajunsweetheart, a pound a day...?! Well you are doing great then. And your husband makes you meatloaf? I'm jealous. I weigh at night and I'm 220.8. I weigh in the morning and I'm 220...what??? I'm taking in between 600 to 700 calories and I work all day and then clean the building I work in after. I don't think I'm getting enough water in but otherwise I'm good. If I wake uo at 220 again tomorrow I'm going to have a full blown tantrum. -

Hey there stranger! My membership to this group is still pending approval. How are you doing? I'm stalled after one blinding week of huge losses at home. Basically the start of the third week I just got stuck. My shape is changing but not the scale number. I'm still trucking along though. I'm eating low carb whole foods very well chewed and staying away from anything tough to chew. I had my first experience with acid reflux in a huge way. I couldn't read my circle story to the preschoolers. The acid was so bad my eyes were watering. I need to get more fiber into me. I think it was the liquid colace I tried just the once because it started right after that. The 27th is coming up, do you still want to post an update of inches/weight every month. I hope you are ok and all is going well.....let me know. -
Hard to believe it's been three weeks since the operation. Wow time flies! I dropped 11 pounds in 6 days the second week, after I got home and then stalled for a full week after. Now I'm losing again. It is easier to eat healthy with out the constant hunger cravings. I eat 5 small meals a day and that seems to satisfy me fine. How are you all doing?

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
yukonmomma replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sitting at Mi Doctor Hospital waiting for my turn and listening to music on the laptop. I'm last to go in of the 4 of us here today. Leprechaun is first! The hospital is clean and the staff are super nice. I met with our surgeon Dr. Lopez and he was ready for questions but I told him Leprechaunmomma already had that covered and I'd get the answers from her, hee hee. Last night the broth and popsicles were like a buffet with soothing tea after. I don't feel deprived or very hungry at all. The popsicles were pureed cantaloup melon frozen on a stick , heaven to my tastebuds! I'm missing my family but loving this trip. Yesterday we sat by the fountain out front of the hotel and watched traffic. The breeze was light and cool and the sun felt great. I really want a palm tree but customs won't let me Good luck and best wishes on a speedy recovery to all of us going in today. I'll check back in after surgery. -

I'm finishing packing for the trip to Saskatoon. I'm driving out at 2:30am to be there in plenty of time before we board. I can't believe how the time has flown! I'm on for Monday as well in Tijuana MX and it still doesn't feel real yet. Fortunately I'm not alone. Leprechaunmomma is heading out at the same time and we'll meet up. Strange that this is how I make my first trip to Mexico. I thought it would be an all inclusive resort type stay.....well it is sort of now that I think of it, just a different view and no majitos. The pre-op diet has not been bad and the three day clear liquids went fine. I'm not hungry yet. Wish us well sleeve sisters, we'll see you on the flip side. -
Hey there Leprechaun! Thanks for the invite. Well, this is cozy. I should have no trouble keeping up. Here's about me: I'm 45 and have about 115 pounds to lose. At 5'5" I'm 242 pounds and have joint pain, sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I also have 2 girls, 15 and 10 years . I'm looking forward to being free of pain and hopefully my meds. I used to love clothes and dressing up. It would be such a pleasure to wear what I want and feel good about my appearance. I'm so glad I found out about this surgery option and am eager to get it done. I'll be armed with some serious tools for success. Yay for us who have the courage to take our health into our own hands and make change for a better life!

How Do I Get Thru This Stall?!
yukonmomma replied to augustkiwi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I've read this happens to a lot of people. Just don't be to consumed with the scale and focus on eating the right foods and get all your water, multi-vit's and protein in. The water is really important for losing. You can retain fluid if you skimp on water.. While the scale isn't budging your inches might be. Did you measure before surgery? When this stall does break- and it will, don't forget to keep on with the above. Hang in there! -

I have to say even if your surgery is postponed this is all good. You may not have known about it if you hadn't been preparing for your sleeve. I'm so glad it was found and will be dealt with and your support team will still be with you even if your surgery isn't meant to be August...you are still and August sister no matter what happens. -

What a beautiful message. Can I borrow your Grandma? Thanks for sharing that. It's true that things have fallen in to place for me as well, so fast that it makes my head spin. -

Yes I'm trying to fill my time up and leave no stone unturned for distractions. I can get obsessive so the peeling of the old wall paper in my kitchen that I've put off for months is getting done at last. I bought paint for the living room, that's next. I start the pre-op diet on Monday. I love the positive vibe of this group! Have a great day ladies. Just 32 days to go until surgery -
I bought my tickets yesterday! Wow, it's too late to turn back now. This is going to be so much better sharing the experience. I was really down when my husband said he couldn't come.

Morning sleevers, just seven days before we'll begin adding to the pool of post-op stories. I bought my plane tickets yesterday! Speaking of clothes shopping, depending on how fast we move through our sizes on our way down we should have a good supply of clothing to re-home with a list as large as ours. Is anyone planning on posting the things they outgrow? I know some of us may have family or friends that will inherit our goods. When I get beyond a size I'll post pics...uhm, somewhere, of what I have. I'd love to recycle them to my sleeve sisters! I also bought large mixed lots of ladies clothes on e-bay and got a whole new wardrobe a few years back for a reasonable/inexpensive price, another option. When in Saskatoon I always end up in thrift stores or Plato's Closet which is my 15 year old's favorite for name brand second hand. What can I say, I'm cheap. -
I'm really excited for you! I hope to see your posts on the flip side.

I think when your family watches you struggle, complain, cry and try - try again they are living this journey with you. No doubt he means well and wants to help and it sounds like you've decided to humor him as well as do yourself a favor. Best wishes to both of you. I know one of my biggest motivators is the possible enjoyment my weight loss could bring for both my husband and I -
I'm also arriving same day but closer to 1pm if I get the flight I want. We'll definitely be picked up together. This trip is looking better every day.

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
yukonmomma replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The slimmest I ever was for any length of time was 155 pounds and I wore my 14's proudly. I have two large bags of clothes in size 14's and 16's that I'm emotionally attached to. I've lugged these bags back and forth through moves to BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon and back, always hoping I'd find the magic combination of willpower and self restraint to lose my weight and fit them again. If I were to hit the goal my doctor has suggested then I'll be a size 8. I can't imagine being that size. I think I was there at 21 for about 5 minutes. I'm already grieving the loss of my "hope" clothes. I want to a be fit and strong size 8 , so that's my goal, what ever weight that ends up being. -

I was just told about this group and was so glad to find it! I have surgery with Dr. Lopez-Ortega in Tijuana Mexico on the 27th. It's all becoming very real that I'm going and jitters have set in. -
I haven't recieved my package of info and diet yet. It should come this next week. I'm trying not to obsess about the trip. It's hard to do since it's less than 6 weeks away. I've got my time at work booked off and my daughters are taken care of with hubby staying home so now what...?
-
My husband was supposed to come with me and we were going to go to Guadalajara to have it done with Dr. Lopez-Ortega. He's since decided he can't come and so I moved the surgery up to another date they had offered and switched to Tijuana. The date is sooner and the trip is cheaper.
-
I'm booked with Dr. Lopez for August 27th as well! This all still feels unreal that it's happening so fast. I applied to medicard after finding "A Lighter Me.com" and heard back within 24 hours. I don't know why but I was picturing early spring for my date. I'm so glad I found this thread and heard some feedback on experiences with our surgeon. I'm nervous about traveling out of country alone but determined to make a change.
