SuzanneRoupas replied to SuzanneRoupas's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have only found the chocolate and vanilla. Their website says they have strawberry as well. Also, I've been adding unflavored protein powder to this concotion to up the protien as well. -
March 20th sleevers
SuzanneRoupas replied to Nicole 2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3/20 sleeve here as well. Doing fine. Protein shakes/shots (what a fab idea with the sno cone thing!), couple of tablespoons of yogurt or chicken salad. Of course sf pudding, popsicles, jello. And my saving grace - BROTH. I hated that Swanson stuff in a box - blech. So I use Wegmans Spicy Thai Broth mixed half and half with broth packets - and yes, there is a lot of salt. Small price for me right now for the satisfying taste and relaxed tummy. Down #10 pre-op, #15 post. Only worry is no BM yet. Guess I'm heading out to get some Mirilax. Can't wait. :/ -
How are fellow March 19/20 sleevers doing?
SuzanneRoupas replied to WeightStruggle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on March 20th. Feeling ok. HUGE tummy noises. Doing my best on fluids and protein but no where near where I should be. Only physical concern is sleeve/tummy spasms. Anyone else hae these? Some emotional ups and down, buyer's remorse, sadness, mourning the old me that could be comforted with food. Scard. AND all will be well. I made a good decision. In a few weeks all of this will be a distant memory. Good luck to all! -
Post-Op 14 Days - Puree Diet
SuzanneRoupas commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
I found little square ones at the Dollar Tree - 10 for a buck. They hold a bit over two ounces each! Score! -
As an add-on, remember these are not your routine "boils". This is a medical condition that is often very hard to treat, has no cure and is considered an orphan disease. Get yourself to a Dermatologist. If you don't like the treatment plan from one, find another. I had a Dermatologist tell me (many years ago) that "I didn't have it that bad, many have it much worse. Just get used to it". Needless to say, I did not go back to him. But, having consistent care from a caring provider is invaluable.

I think I am pretty lucky - my Doc does not require a pre-op diet, just NPO after midnight the night before as with any surgery. For you that have Docs that require a limited diet pre-op, hang in there! Good luck!

I've had HS for about 40 years. Things that help/have helped: Accutane - worked well the first time, did not work the second. Can't use if you are female of child-bearing age. Embrel - EXCELLENT results - it is a biologic, tumor-necrosing drug that is lab-created. You hear about it related to Rhumatoid Arthriits. Expensive, and using it for off label use is often not approved by insurance. Laser removal of hair folicles in the areas - have seen a few articles. Quitting smoking. Cotton underwear Zeasorb powder to areas Witch Hazel Surgical removal - some lesions come back even after removal of all apocrine glands and skin grafting Injecting lesions with steroid - helpful for bad lesions, I do it 4x a year as prevention to all of the old lesions/bad scars Getting rid of blackheads in affected areas - often are the prodrome of a lesion Antibiotics consistently (don't forget to eat live yougurt to avoid problems) to decrease odor and pain Hot packs and incision/drainage for really bad lesions. HS sucks and has affected every area of my life - hope some of these ideas help others.

4 days into pre op diet and feeling weak...
SuzanneRoupas replied to WeightStruggle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Center does not require a pre-op diet unless you fail to lose weight consistently as you await surgery. Of course you will be on clears the day before and NPO after midnight of the operative day! Good luck to all you March sleevers - I'm April 24th. -
I'm in the pre-op process and I take a boatload of meds, some of them for depression. Will I be crushing these post-op and mixing with a clear liquid? How did you do it and what did you put it in? Is there a typical time when you can resume medications in capsule or tablet form? Thanks in advance. Suzanne
