Michelle- NOT YET! Argh, I wish someone would whack me when I get home to remember it. I normally read whatever book I've left on my dresser when I go to bed. I think about that book at work occasionally, and I go "Ok, remember to get it off the book shelf". Then I forget. I saw it at Barnes & Nobles when we were getting pregnancy books and was trying to remember to get it then too. Tonight I WILL remember, I really want to read it. And no Terry, haven't read the other one. Perks of Being a Wallflower, my friend in HS was reading it, so one day she gave it to me to read.. I began reading it on the busride home, and was engulfed in it. I think I finished it by the next day, and it was really good.. one of the few books that stick out to me, I couldn't really tell you what was good about it, but we passed that book around and made everyone we know read it lol. I remember it made me reflective. I'll have to check out that other one after I read Water for Elephants. Which I WILL start tonight (dang it!!).

I use to live in Kennesaw, GA.. I loved it there, couldn't get husband to move there with me when we decided where to settle down. I watched all of Baby Borrowers, I was more horrified than entertained, I can't believe people left their newborns or toddlers with these teens, and some of the things they did.. just.. wow. What some people do for $$!

Haydee, try "Perks of Being a Wallflower", good easy read and interesting.

Oh yeah.. see, that's why in the instructions I said send your e-mail address! I'm one-track minded.. I just copied your e-mail address to the list from the e-mail you sent me.. didn't think to update. I'll change it on mine, everyone make note! :smile2: I've been daydreaming about the bacon-wrapped BBQ shrimp I had at TGIF's a few weeks ago.. Russell agreed to take me there for lunch today, nom nom nom nom.

Speaking of sisters, my sister has always been smaller than me our whole lives. We're the same height, and she's not skinny, but she's always been smaller. She use to call me fat & make fun of me, etc. She has been gaining weight, and she is eating all the time (I guess has to do with the drug rehab thing).. She is 257lb.. and I am 212! Interestingly enough though, she still LOOKS smaller, she is bottom heavy (hips and butt) where mine is all belly.

Yeah, I tried to be the voice of reason, all I kept hearing is "I do it too! We're all human, just chew the pork chop up real well!".. so I had to say something..

I was googling, some people say don't take anything during 1st trimester, another site said it's fine. One of them mentioned pre-natal vitamins cause gassiness, so I wonder if that's the culprit!

Ok, everyone should have received their Secret Santa info.. and a V Contact List. If you did not get it, let me know!

Hah it's funny how we all react according to our own views! Russell and I watched part of the Democratic convention last night, and we were bursting up laughing through most of it! And woohoo on the NSV Judy, even though the shirt was not my taste :smile2: I could have told you an XL would be too big, you're a little woman!! Tracy, I googled it, and came up with postradiation morphea and received more results.. this sounds familiar! Postradiation morphea. [J Rheumatol. 1998] - PubMed Result After googling the other version of spelling, looks like a lot of articles about post breast cancer radiation. Relax ya'll, you'll have a full 3 months to shop!! I am sending out the Santa list now. I drew names last night (at home), but all the information (addresses, etc.) are at work!

Are we there yet?! -
I guess I am a fussy eater. It sounded really good when I read everyone talking about it, so I got it.. but opening the cans really turned me off, it looks like melted congealed nastiness.. I thought maybe you should heat it up, but the container doesn't say anything about it. I'll try it with a chip when I get home and see if maybe all I tasted was the slime residue from the top.

Well I am down 120lbs from last April.. right after surgery I lost like 7lbs, then a month of nothing, month where I GAINED 2lb, next month lost 1lb.. It wasn't until I got a decent fill, and then bam, it just started falling off.

the boyfriend update for those who wonder
Daisalana replied to Hollie519's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not to be negative nancy, but I don't know any men who can handle bills on their own.. :cursing: (Not being ABLE to pay them, but actually PAYING them) -
I bought the different tostito dips you guys talked about.. creamy salsa & the spinach dip. Neither of them look very good when you open it.... I just touched my fingertip to the spinach dip to taste it, and it was eck.. and looks slimy.. do you heat it up first? Does it taste better if you put more in your mouth? lol. I'm afraid to try it now and waste a can of my chicken :cursing:

Question for the girls......birth control
Daisalana replied to missymoo78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's only "very dangerous" to get pregnant post-op if you had RNY due to malabsorption. There's no serious risks for pregnancy with the band aside from, you wouldn't want to get pregnant right after any surgery with stitches I guess.. Emotionally you probably wouldn't want that change, but there are other ways to avoid pregnancy.. Just saying if you're scared of risks of problems with pregnancy vs. blood clotting... -
Do You Still Have Your Gall Bladder?
Daisalana replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't know this was a genetic thing, but I had heard it can go with rapid weight loss. My dad had his gallbladder out when he was about 39.. I have had no symptoms of problems with mine though. -
Question for the girls......birth control
Daisalana replied to missymoo78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not to be a fearmonger, but it's really a good idea to go off of it, even if your doc OK's it. Blood clots are a serious risk. I also had to do the injections... This Friday a co-worker of mine went home from work and found his wife dead in bed.. she had a hysterectomy a couple months ago (she is only 35) and a blood clot went to her heart and she had a heart attack Friday. I just think it's way better to suffer for a month and get it over with, and reduce the risk. Blood clots aren't something to mess with. -
They're DONE! I guess you missed my panic attack the night before we went to Jamaica and she threw me an unexpected 5 page paper 4 hours before I planned to go to bed? If you decide to do it, make sure you go through a real University. Don't do the like Virginia College, Phoenix, etc.. they're not accredited. Say the UofKansas (example, make sure they have distance learning courses), you apply as a normal student, and then when you register, sign up for their distance learning classes. I liked in person classes better myself, but we moved from New Mexico to Alabama and I was only 2 semesters shy of a BA degree.. so I took UNM's distance learning classes to finish it. The big difference is, if you were in class, you'd be discussing and feedback etc.. to make up for no human contact, you do a LOT of writing.. discussion boards (like this forum!) but much less interesting topics, and requirements of how many words & how many posts you do each week, a lot of papers to show you read the assignment, etc.

Pre banded,, finally losing a few pounds
Daisalana replied to wickedme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good for you! :cursing:) -
agreat- I know what you mean, if I let myself get to the 'I'm starving' point, I will definitely eat too fast- every time. What I do to try to avoid that, anytime I get even a little hungry, I will eat something (small). I keep granola bars in my desk at work and will just tear off a corner, or eat 1 cracker, etc. It will definitely help, not to let yourself get to the starving point.

Ok here it is, it's long I know.. but it's worth the read (at least I think so). Going to shrink it down so hopefully I don't completely spam this thread....

My band keeps me in check for turkey day and christmas. I remember last Thanksgiving, was my first one since banded, and everyone in my family stacks a plate at least 8inches high with a ton of food. I took about a teaspoon of most sides just to be able to taste them and an ounce of turkey. I was an oddity last year. And I wasn't even able to eat all of that! I was pretty proud.

losing - haha I just pulled it up to show you the link, she apparently just went to the zoo AGAIN. She has been in news, has a book coming out, etc. Wish I could find the original thing that introduced me to her.. she had an ebay listing for a pokemon card pack.. the listing was a long story about how one of her kids stole it, so she is selling it on ebay to teach him a lesson. It made me cry from laughing.. here it is: BECAUSE I SAID SO

The reason for the liquid diet, is because you have stitches around your band that need to heal. liquids pass through your stomach with little movement. When you eat a solid, your stomach pumps, think of like how your heart works. When your stomach pumps, stitches can be pulled, and your band can be shifted, and this could eventually lead to a slipped band. You really need to follow the diet strictly, despite how good you may feel. They don't put you on the diet just to torture you!
