So sorry, I can't imagine how that would make you feel.

((Jenn)) what a sad story, I'm sorry you had to go through that (and still do). Terry, the necklace is beautiful, I really love it, the big beads are very elegant. I weighed myself this morning, I was posting in the pregnancy threads.. I have always bounced between 2 numbers since banding, till it gives me a new low number, repeat.. since finding out I'm pregnant, I bounce between NINE numbers. 212-219. Literally 212 one day, 219 the next, 215 the next, 217 the next.. so today I was 212 again. I couldn't have that, no siree, I gotta fatten up..pff. I'm so into sweets, I can't help myself. The only thing restraining me from pigging out, is Russell.. I can't hide binge from him (I use to prebanding, but it would be late at night.. since he is up later than I am for a long time now, I don't get to sneak anything). I know, I'm sick. I tried to see a shrink!! But he left this morning to go visit his family... I went to the gas station, got a nasty ass eggroll (note to self, don't eat gas station food)... junior mints, reese cups, caramello.. I ate the caramello.. threw out the egg roll after 1 bite.. 2 hours later, starving.. I don't have anything I want to eat.. I'm even more picky these days, nothing sounds 'good'.. except spinach dip and tomatoes.. mm.. Anyway, so I ate junior mints.. took a nap.. mom called to go to dinner, we went to Landry's, none of us have ever been. I had tilapia with cream sauce and some scallops..was awesome.. then I got a creme brulee to go. Just finished the creme brulee.. ho hum. Russell needs to not leave me to my own devices, I am horrible! Got the reese cups laying in bed next to me, I won't throw them out but I'm trying to at least refrain from eating them until tomorrow. I'm a fat girl at heart.

Yeah when I first got them done, sans bra I went to the gas station on the way home.. Feeling the shirt move over them made me blush in there.. that's the only odd moment I remember. As for my one that hurts, I just don't put one in there. Every 6 months I think, maybe it's ok now.. I put it in, after a few hours it is throbbing and I take it out and give up. It could just be that one nipple won't accept it. The other one, never had any problem with it. Even if you end up like me, where your body doesn't want them.. well.. then you know! And during healing, I don't remember that one giving me any special problems, I think it is when I changed to barbells. That could also be why I have problems with it, since I don't do hoops. No, you can't see them through the shirt.. maybe if you wore a big nipple shield or something. I think I see them through the shirt, but no one else can tell (I've asked some people I know, on days I think they are obvious, but they never have). The actual piercing was not horrible, it's like any other piercings, it takes your breath away..and I yelled monkey. But by time I finished saying 'monkey' it was over.

I am a bit disappointed.. I have worn 11W-WW since I guess I was 12. I normally wear flip flops year round, since they don't discriminate. For the first time since banding, I went shoe shopping 2 weeks ago. Down over 100lbs, and I heard others mention losing a size or two--or the width, etc. My feet LOOK skinnier to me, but in the store, 11W is still what I wear. 11's were too tight, and I couldn't get my foot into a 10W. What a bummer

It wasn't baby furniture or I wouldn't have even been looking, it was to trade out dressers in our bedroom and give them my guestroom bed (so I can put baby stuff in there).

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate the family drama :lovechoc: I HATE my parents like to act oblivious, and they like to turn it around like I'm the bad guy because I won't look away. We are suppose to be moving a lot of furniture around tomorrow--I'm getting my old bedroom set from my parent's house (a nice one) and they are taking the one I had set up in my guest room. My set is currently in my old closet (which is huge).. my sister took that room when I moved out 7 years ago, and we've been talking about this for a month, mover scheduled for tomorrow. I told Russell I am cleaning out our furniture, he asks why, I am like..we do the move tomorrow. He acts like I never talked to him about this, and he was there on several occasions. He is like, I don't want furniture if your sister trashed it. I said I don't think she trashed it beyond repair.. like cleaning. So I call mom, it's her poker night so she said she'll check tomorrow, but tomorrow is when we're doing the moving.. 8am. So to appease Russell, I go over to my parents' house to look at it. The door is locked. My old room, is now their movie room. I knock, my sister is all weird sounding, said she's sleeping. I ask her to open up. 15 minutes pass, I hear everything she's doing.. opening drawers to my furniture in the closet, spraying crap. She finally opens and is like 'What do you want' and I told her I'm looking at the furniture. She goes ballistic, saying she's sleeping, can't I do it another time. I know what she's up to, so I'm like "How about you just go to your bedroom and sleep so I can look at the furniture?" She flips out, runs off.. I go to the closet, open the drawers.. and bags of white powder, and burnt glass pipes. Lovely. A drawer is missing, another one is broken, so mom comes up to find out what the drama is, I show her the powder and pipes.. sister comes back, tells this story about how that's from before when she use to live there blah blah. I heard her putting it away, and I'm not oblivious. Last time she lived in that room she wasn't an addict. But good ol' mom, hugs her and says "OK, no need to get upset" (She throws one of her tantrums). Then she turns to me and said "I'm busy tonight, I don't have time for drama". Even better, way to be the parent. Way to be an enabler?! So then she tells me to get out while my sister gets her 'stuff' together then I can look at the furniture. I just left. Fck it, I don't want the furniture, I don't want to be involved in their stupid delusional lifestyle over there.

What has been your biggest food sacrifices
Daisalana replied to TheWatcher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I was not mocking you. I was hoping to do you justice as a fellow bander, and help you understand the attitude of beer & pizza is not going to help you be a successful bandster. Instead of saying, yeah that's ok.. beer & pizza! I'm being honest and pointing out the flaw in your current line of thinking. The band is a tool. You are the one who controls how that tool is going to work. -
I also wonder if it has to do with blood thinners? My doctor gave me a shot of some blood thinner right before surgery (which made my already bad bleeding even worse).

What has been your biggest food sacrifices
Daisalana replied to TheWatcher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Reading your posts, you don't seem like you have your brain in the game with the band.. you really need to reflect on getting together with it! Your posts all say what you never do, that you eat well and do right- and being 400lbs does not reflect that(in one thread)..and the next thread you try to justify why you can have pizza & beer.. while you're still in the liquid phase. Your lack of enthusiasm to follow the rules is disheartening, I just think if you want to succeed with the band you need to get a reign on your personal responsibility in the weightloss. -
What has been your biggest food sacrifices
Daisalana replied to TheWatcher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well if you have the mentality of not cutting out beer, the problem you will find when you're using a band to restrict your input of food (calories.. or carbs for an easy example).. Beer if laden with lots of these. Let's say you need to eat 1,500 calories to lose weight.. 1 12oz (can) of beer is 153 calories & 12 carbs. How many beers do you have in one sitting? I'm not a beer drinker, so I'm going to guess based off of the people I know who drink it.. 2-4.. 306 to 612 calories. So using 306 calories for 2 beers, you have 1,194 calories left for the day. Divide between 3 meals.. 398 calories per meal left. Now you're left designing 3 meals to stay within that criteria. It can be done, but that's also assuming you only had 2 beers and that you can control what you're eating (and before a good fill, this is easier said than done). 1 slice of thin crust is 110 calories for the dough, 10 calories for the sauce, 60 calories for the cheese, and toppings vary depending on them.. meats are 30-80. ONE slice. The more you know! For me, I just try to avoid empty calories in liquids. I sound anal about calories, and I'm not (anymore). I used that as my counter when I started out, so I could have a focus on something, so I think it's helpful to think about when you're starting out. Don't start trying to justify why you can drink beer & pizza--realize why you SHOULDN'T drink beer and eat pizza. -
2nd X, Open Me Up or Not?
Daisalana replied to pandagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you're going through that, I honestly couldn't say what I would choose in your shoes. If it was possible with insurance timing, the surgeon, and my willpower.. I'd try to lose some more weight before trying again.. just to be safe than sorry. However, sounds like you lost quite a bit since the last try which could only help your odds. Is there anyway they can check with ultrasound or something BEFORE you go under to see if it's going to be easier? -
Banded, preggo and lots of questions
Daisalana replied to ellie619's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Protein shakes wouldn't hurt, if you think you should be taking in more than you do, that's a great place to start. Since your appt. is almost a month away, you should also call your obgyn and get their input on it.. call and get your band doctor's input as well. -
2nd X, Open Me Up or Not?
Daisalana replied to pandagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is the problem they are having? Trouble getting through fat, size of liver, etc? -
Uhm.. probably. I don't think it'd really matter, and I don't know why.. but maybe I'm thinking.. they make you take piercings out for surgery, and they remove your nipples when you have reduction.. if they remove it and put it back on, it might accidentally close up the holes, and your piercings will be lopsided or closed up and you have to do it again. I'd just wait till the boob job heals.

Everytime I go to that pregnancy thread, the Pizza Hut offer pops up. I haven't seen it on any of the other threads. I'm wondering how ads work.. can they specifically target? So they're trying to taunt the pregnant banders into eating pizza?

I used that story back in 6th grade, and 2 of the smart boys in class (I was always in competition with them) did not understand the concept. I can still remember them arguing. I said, what weighs more.. a pound of feathers or a pound of bricks. They were adament that it was bricks. I even explained how a POUND is a POUND, and they disagreed because bricks are heavier. I never felt like I was in competition with them again!

The curious incident dog book, etc..... When I got it, there's a cut out dog on the front, that is black because of the page behind it. Well, there's a 'hickey' (what we call it in printing) on the black spot that is suppose to be the dog--a printer error. Now, I know for a fact when the publisher received these books with this hickey they DEMANDED a refund/reimbursement, etc.. of some sort. But this proved my irritation with some customers, the book was NOT cheaper to me--the consumer. So the publisher just ripped the printer off. We see this all the time, some little tiny blemish, which the person buying the item would never even see (although this book it is very noticable, which is why I know they got some sort of discount from it)... they are adament they deserve something for it. But they still use it, and the product isn't discounted. Oh and I found out, this job I do yearly with the city--such a headache--It's a beautiful book and I love the end piece, but they require I sit in at their meeting while they go over 200 pages of content with each other and gush about how wonderful each other is for coming up with the ideas..called me and I have to go to the meeting on Tuesday. Last year after 2 hours of them talking about where they were 'going' with the book, I finally let them know I really didn't need to be there for that and left. In fact, I didn't need to be there for ANYTHING. I can't do anything for them there.. except listen to them. Pointless!! Sometimes sales is daunting, but 98% of my customers aren't local so I don't usually have to do this kind of stuff. I actually tried to give this customer to a newer sales person, and she declined it. I was pretty shocked considering she is always crying about how low her sales are. I think it was a power thing, like it wasn't important enough to her. But I found a way to make this worth my while, going to mark it up enough to give me a few 100$'s per hour for sitting in the meeting.. today she came to me and decided if she HAS to take it, she will. I just looked at her funny and said, nah this is a good paying job, I got it!

Unfortunately, that's how all insurances work I believe. I can't remember anyone saying they had a BMI under 40, and no comorbidies, and was covered. It's a generic standard... 40 BMI +.. or 35 BMI + 2 or more comorbidies.

I told Russell I need to crack down on my eating, I am slipping and allowing myself indulgences.. every day, and every meal.. woops! He said "Like what?".. I said "Well, I had a hamburger and fries for lunch yesterday, I couldn't even eat that till now.. and I ate all of it!!" And he says how we never go to fast food, so that was a rarity anyway.. but *I* know I don't like being able to eat that much, I know what that opens the door for. Typically I can only eat a small amount, which justifies my indulgence (a frosty). This time I ate the whole burger, fries, AND frosty. Ugh. And I didn't even like any of it, it all tasted crappy.. I don't like fast food anymore, but I still ate it, wth?! Then he asked "What else", I said the coca cola cake Wednesday and he goes "I told you not to get that" (I never heard that).. all I heard was HE ORDERED ONE TOO. Blah blah blah. So at lunch, TGIF's.. I was looking at getting a salad.. but they don't have any good looking ones.. so I got my bacon-wrapped shrimp I always get.. and they way undercooked it, it was all white and goopy.. I took a tiny bite, and almost gagged.. sent it back, she says they have to make it all over again so it'll be a while.. it WAS a while, but it was the same shrimp--I saw where I took a bite out of one. I was still turned off by the whole eating a piece of pretty raw shrimp, so I just got it all to-go. I wanna eat good, I really do.. but that's where the band is my miracle worker.. it keeps me from being bad, and right now it's a little lax and I don't have willpower.

I'm not too familiar with that, but isn't there a list your PCP surely has discussed with you on GOOD sugars (Fruit for example) vs. BAD sugars (Table sugar)? Terms like fructose and sucralose (I admit, I don't pay attention well when I hear these terms to remember which is worse). You should eat good sugars.. like fruit. Don't eat candy bars. Blah blah blah.

I like bikinis, and the hipster shorts (which I can walk around the house in) I went through my lingerie drawers, cleaning out things that are too big now.. Size 26/28 lace crotchless thong. I put it on for giggles, and was horrified.. I really don't think I could have worn it when I got it, my bottom half was never as big as my top.. must have come with a corset or something.. yeah.. I was oblivious. TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tongue2::w00t:

I think I must have said my question wrong.. I understand weightloss= less diabetes, less sleep apnea, less co-morbities. But statistically, RnY causes just about everything to be better in better statistics (I don't remember if it was saying over a period of time, or overall). But in Sleep Apnea alone, Banding cured it better. So I wonder why sleep apnea isn't cured better by RnY, since everything else is.

What has been your biggest food sacrifices
Daisalana replied to TheWatcher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cokes.. Mt. Dew.. I was addicted to Mt.Dew.... A month pre-op I quit cold turkey, figuring if I can cut it out, I can do this.. and miraculously I did it. I've had cokes since banding, but it's not the same anymore.. it's uncomfortable from the carbonation, it makes me feel bloated and I only end up drinking a few small sips. Taste isn't quite the same either when you have to take tiny sips and swash it around a little bit. -
I responded to your other post too... Sugar doesn't affect the band. RnY patients get dumping syndrome from sugar, so they shouldn't eat it. As anyone losing weight, you should try to limit or cut out sugar.
