Just joined today, from Alabama
Daisalana replied to razberry*kisses's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, welcome Stephanie I am also in Alabama (Huntsville area). Congrats on the 13lbs already! -
I agree, it's more novelty. I tried it just because it's 'the rabbit' and you hear about it.. but.. I prefer my bullet of all things. That could also be preference, I'm not much for dildos anyway. Anytime I do want a dildo, I want it to be as close to the real thing as I can.. don't like the sleek things..

Creme Brulee is my all time favorite, hands down. Let's get this thread off of page 666!!! I did Christmas lights last year, and everyone we know made fun of them.. so I refuse to do them again! Plus I shouldn't get up on a ladder as a preggo lady.. and I sure as heck know Russell isn't going to do them. For those of you with lots of lights and care to know, Home Depot is doing something.. you trade in your strand of lights and they give you free or discounted energy saving Christmas lights (I vaguely listen to radio commercials) but it may be worth looking into. It's been in the 40's and tonight it's suppose to freeze, all I have for coats are the 3x ones.. and the one Jennifer sent me.. Jennifer I love it, too bad I have 2 white cats.. it's already covered in cat hair So I went to Cato's to get some new jacket(s). The new style is 3/4 sleeve coats & jackets. ARGH?! They display them with a model wearing long sleeve shirts under it, but I prefer a t-shirt style with a coat.. not a 3/4 sleeve coat with a long sleeve shirt. It's so weird.. So I bought several sweaters, that I can use as jackets.. and one of these goofy 3/4 sleeve jackets just because it was cute.. khaki corduroy with big wooden flower-shaped buttons..and baby-doll style so my belly won't outgrow it.

Pff you're rockin in the 100's Tracy!!! And I'm sorry but I laughed when you said Extreme Home Make Over made you cry..... I tell you a secret to make it up to you though.. The attorney commercials "Do you know someone who ..... then call us and blah blah we get you $$".. one of those came on the other day and had some elderly people looking abused and I got teary-eyed.

Well update on my Thanksgiving fiasco.. I'm glad I didn't fly off the lid prematurely, I had hoped it would work out without me having to complain.. anyway, his family says they'd like to come to our family gathering, all depending on his dad's next surgery.. they're putting a splint in his leg veins or something?? But the last thing we heard is that they ARE IN as long as the surgery doesn't conflict. Fingers crossed..

Carb Addiction Out of Control!
Daisalana replied to ImanAbdulaziz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can recommend something.. it worked for me before, but I don't do low-carb anymore. If you can go a certain amount of time with no-carb, your body stops craving it. I would say 1-2 weeks. (Atkins says 2 weeks, but when I did it I think I stopped dying for sugar after 4-7 days) Those 1-2 weeks will be rough because your body is use to carbs, and will be wanting them.. but if you can pull yourself through that time, your body essentially converts how it processes fat & carbs and no longer 'craves'/'needs' carbs. -
Welcome Kirsty! Good luck with your surgery and hope you find the boards as helpful as I did when I was first banded :smile2:)

Hi from a new member
Daisalana replied to ImanAbdulaziz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Iman :smile2: There is a section "food and Nutrition" and once you click on it, near the top there is a recipes section. I'm not sure how many shake recipes there are, but you could probably find some under the liquid phase diet recipes. I also recommend google for things like that, google 'high Protein shake recipes', I found some that way. -
Welcome Ace! Oy, you have pill form pain meds? My doc had given me liquid version codine.. if you have any more trouble, call your doc and see if they can call in a liquid version for you. Taking the pain meds is the best advice I could give you right now. I didn't take mine as I should (I didn't like being loopy), and by day 4 I had pulled something from holding myself funny and ended up in the ER thinking I had a blood clot in my lungs.. I didn't, but it was a headache to sit in the hospital all that time and for nothing, since they decided I just pulled a muscle (doh!). Also, make sure you stick to your post-op diet to a T. It's very important for your healing, and will help you avoid any complications later on.

Just Beginning in MA -- Long post, help!?
Daisalana replied to SilentlyWeeping623's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome SW, I think we all have some sort of fear of this won't work, like everything else.. but for me, it couldn't hurt. I was crippled at 20 from back pains (I was 23 by time I decided to get the band). I had a back up.. if this didn't work, I would resort to RnY. If that didn't work, well.. then I give up.. but I at least had to try, ya know? I think the band is the best think I decided to do for myself, and was pleased to know it works great! My back pains were completely gone in a matter of months, I think it was only 50lbs(ish) I had to lose to stop the pain, who knew!!! To get started, I just looked up bariatric doctors in my area and the nurse would tell me what was required (Generically, they require a 1. consultation 2. Psych evaltuation). If your insurance is paying, they may require more steps, but the doctor's office should have a person in charge of handling insurance needs and will give you a rundown of that at your consultation. I consulted with a couple doctors before deciding on one. The downside of this (I don't know if insurance pays this normally, I was self-pay)was each consultation was a few $100's. The plus side, I got to find a doctor I felt extremely comfortable and happy with. You can also check out the 'local' forum here, US-->MA and see who people recommend in your area for a starting point. -
Looking for lap band surgeons in Las Vegas
Daisalana replied to Las Vegas Reader's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi LVR, welcome to the forum! I don't know any surgeons in LV, so I'm no help there.. but congratulations on your decision :smile2: You can look in the 'local' forums under US-> Nevada and see if there have been some recommendations for Vegas.. -
Welcome Rock! My biggest suggestion to you right now, in having to go through this long process is to look around at the success stories. They gave me great motivation to stay in line, when I was waiting to be banded!
-
Welcome to the forum Mary! Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I hope the band is a big success for you as it has been with many people. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
-
Welcome tulip and congratulations on your recent band :smile2:) Not everyone likes baby food, but I loved baby 1st foods during puree phase.. I had the butternut squash, peas, sweet potatoes, and bananas.. I added salt to the veggies and they were wonderful! Most people don't feel restriction until they get some fill(s) in their band. So if you start feeling like you were never banded, don't fret.. it happens! Stick to your post-op diet, it's very important.. and good luck!

Hello Ms Burpy & welcome! Sounds like you've done great with your weightloss so far. As to the burpy, it sounds like you take in too much air. If you use straws, don't.. when you take sips, or swallow food, make an effort not to swallow a mouthful of air along with it. Sometimes it's just inevitable, I burp when I drink too quick, I assume it's the liquid backing up and gurgling through the band.. so maybe slow down too :smile2: If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome Christy! Good luck with the insurance approval, if your insurance covers obesity treatments it does sound like you qualify. Keep us updated :smile2:) -
well, I just found out...
Daisalana replied to eisermanr7's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats!! I went in deciding I wasn't going to worry about the weight, but my obgyn is a stickler (stupid skinny ass..woops did I say that?) about gaining weight during pregnancy. I gained more than she wanted me to, everytime I visit, so I get to hear a lecture.. and despite my best efforts, I'm starving 24/7 and I'm doing better than I expected to. I would like to totally binge eat right now, and I'm not.. I'm not making the best food decisions but I'm not eating like the cow I want to be eating as. I have gained 17lbs in 4 months, which is bad. I get sad sometimes, but then I remember.. post-baby I will be able to fill the band back up and get back on the wagon :smile2:) And on that note, I have finally stalled. I was gaining regularly week to week, and for a few weeks now I have bounced between the same 3lbs. About the unfill, depends on your docs preference. My obgyn has no input in it (I'm her first banded preggo), and my band doc.. well I'm his first preggo bander. He unfilled just a little bit because I had gotten very tight and trouble eating.. but I think that swelling went away so now I am more open than I want to be.. but if I get it filled back up, I'm afraid that swelling will come back and he's 3 hours away.. -
I couldn't log on yesterday either Pam  Tracy - No smoking is going well.. I don't have plans for Tunica, but my parents went this weekend and I sent my free-play coupons with them.. They brought me $800 today! That's how much they cashed out with my free tickets.. woot woot. For my haircut.. I get the lady who is the only lady I let do my eyebrows.. Eyebrows are $10 + I give $5 tip.. if I get my hair cut, the haircut is $12 + $5 tip.. and I dye my hair at home for about $10. Nice an' cheap here in Alabamer! :smile2: Haydee that's the froofy smell stuff I got you last year! :crying: Oh yeah the vitavegamiteblahblah is on my refrigerator. Makes me laugh everytime I see it, I loved that show!!!

Tracy- Part of the instructions for submitting info for Secret Santa was a line about what you like.. Most people did it, so if you got the info without information on what they like, it's because they can't follow directions AND YOU SHOULD GET THEM COAL.

Game was good, we won.. team is rockin' this year!! And now I remember, at the B&B in Gruene, all the laughing and them gettin irritated.. yes yes, coming back. I put up my tree tonight and have 10 presents under it already.. I looove Christmas. Sorry for my Secret Santa-Receiver, I wrapped your gift last week and I am going to send it out Monday. I was going to hold onto it, but I am antsy, gotta get my Christmas ducks in a row! You can open the outter box, it's wrapped inside.. and I guess throw it in a closet, unless you're a weirdo like me with your tree up in Mid-November. Teehee!!

Judy- You reminded me what I read about "N". It is actually one of the short stories in the book you're buying :Dancing_sorry: I'm not sure why they did a promo video of that particular story, and like I said I didn't quite understand it.. but you should be reading it when you get to that story! Our weather is interesting.. haven't seen the sun in days, it's very gloomy out.. but no rain.. and it's only 60 degrees.. but supposedly we get a cold front tonight and SNOW FLURRIES tomorrow?? We don't get snow, so that is unusual...especially in November. Global warming, what? Thanks Terry I am going to check out that website. Great find Tracy!! Looks like something I gave to my sister when I bought that china hutch.. she still loves it. I am super tired, I normally go home and get in bed everyday after work and veg out.. tonight I have a hockey game. Normally that's fun and exciting, but I am zonked.

WHAZZUP JACKSONVILLE?! (can I get a whoop whoop)
Daisalana replied to nijireiki's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just came to LOLz at the thread title :tongue2: -
Mine flipped and I had revision surgery 6months post-op from my original surgery. They moved it from my belly to my chest (it's between my breasts under my bra). Never heard of waiting till you're at goal.. can they get into it? They couldn't access mine for fills/unfills. They open your original port scar, and depending on if they move it or just flip it back, they only deal with that area (or 1 more new incision site).. they don't open up all the other incisions.
