Help i feel like a failure!!

People also lose weight in porportion to how much weight they have to lose. I think you seem on track, and it's normal to hit plateaus. Drinking when you eat also helps wash food down, which means you can eat more.. which means you're bypassing the whole reason the band works. You need to get this under control..
  2. Hi suzie, I'm a bit in the same boat, I had a small unfill due to pregnancy tightness.. that tightness went away so I've been eating more than I should. The best tip I can give you, one of my friends told me.. make sure to eat things that stick with you longer. High Fiber, High Protein. That can help you control the urges to snack. Just keep being strong, and try exercising (or upping your exercise) for the time being. Your fill is right around the corner, you can do it

    First goal met!

Congratulations on hitting your first milestone! Just imagine where you'll be this time next year )
  4. Welcome annie & good luck on finding a surgeon. And remember, you can never research about the surgery too much

    checking into lap band

Welcome & good luck May! I did not do the Optifast, so I can't help you there. If you search the forums, I'm sure someone has talked about it before.

    Hello from NJ

Welcome badalor! You're going in the right direction, and most consultations do have an insurance consultation where they go over your specific plan to see if you are covered and if so, what you need to do. Check out the rest of the forum, there's plenty of info out there about the surgery.

    Waiting for surgery!

Welcome franny.. Everyone's pain threshold is different. A lot of people said it was minor, just a little bit of aching.. So I went in thinking it would be pretty minor.. but honestly, I felt like someone had ripped up my insides! The good news is, they give you good pain meds in the hospital, and send you home with some.. so in the end, it's nothing you can't handle  Good luck with the dieting right now, I definitely feel for you. But this is just a blip in time, and post-op and post-post-op-diet.. you'll forget all about the troubles of these diets, and just love your band

    Hi, newcomer

Welcome to the forum! I had a flipped port too and had revision surgery about 6 months post-op of my original surgery. I agree, despite having a complication, and any other minor complications I've faced, the band has been the best thing I ever did for myself.
  9. Welcome skeeter, glad you found us too! I had crippling back pain for years when I had decided to get the surgery. My PT told me to use a scooter when I go in public, but being that I was only 20 and too proud, I refused.. happy to say not only a few months post-op and about 60lbs down.. my back pain completely went away! The band saved me

    Hello from Missouri

Welcome! Congrats on your weight loss so far, and just know the liquid/mushy etc. diet stuff.. it may suck now, but pretty soon it will just be a distant memory.
  11. Welcome back & good luck with your surgery!

Openly Disgusting - Why Lose Weight?

I only sweat (to any sort of extent) on the bridge of my nose, but I almost always did it, which made it a pain to keep my glasses up. Now I am always cold too! I like it  I can't remember the last time I broke into a sweat. Crossing my legs is a biggie, and fitting into the ridiculously small seats at musicals & plays. My main reason really was a health thing, the crippling lower back pain I had for years.. I forgot what being able to walk 20ft without pain was like.. so I love walking around grocery stores, parking far away from places, or even when we went to Vegas for our wedding a few months post-op, it was the first time I'd been to Vegas since a bad episode I had there where I collapsed on the floor in the middle of the Forum and bawled asking my husband to just leave me there because I couldn't walk anymore.. and when we were there for the wedding, 115 degrees and all I walked for miles around the strip without batting an eye. That was a beautiful moment for me and made the band worth it right then & there.
  13. Michelle- I am actually in the same boat with you! I use to have horrible reflux, I took Prilosec OTC.. then after losing a certain amount of weight, reflux went away (YAY), but now with pregnancy I noticed it coming back.. Friday night I woke up every hour, burping and burning. Nothing would ever come up, but it felt horrible..and I kept thinking, all this acid is sitting around my band, please don't erode!! I took some Tums (can't take Prilosec while pregnant  ) which don't do much for me. Ahh Monday morning, customers with impossible requests right before the holidays. Gotta love it.
  14. Pam that sounds beautiful! Denise he is adorable  I like looking at babies these days! Luckily Russ was only sick for the day and I didn't catch it! I am going to Mannheim Steamroller tonight, very excited. Just finished curling my hair and I'm in my robe.. wanted to pop in and see what ya'll are doing. Weekends go by way too quick, I sleep them away it seems. Nursery was never cleared out since Russ' bro never came back, argh.. my mom said she'd come help, I told her no.. and she is insisting.. she has a rod in her neck and chronic pain that came back, I'm not letting her help move furniture!
  15. It's gorgeous out here today too. Was 18 degrees last night, 60 today. Russ' brother came this weekend to help move furniture so we have a nursery, and they didn't start yet. This morning he said he needed to go home (but would be back) to take his girlfriend to work.. 2 hours away? He never came back, so I told Russ it must be an excuse to leave or something, but it was very bizarre. He got here late, ate pizza, passed out, and then this morning he left. He's not answering his phone now, I wonder if Russ said something to him when I wasn't here yesterday or something. Anyway, just got back from Walmart, did my Angel tree shopping.. wow, I hate Walmart during the holidays. Long line, and I got an easy bake oven for one of the angels and this seemingly drunkard behind me wouldn't stop talking about it.. I asked Russ if we can start moving furniture, I'll help him as best I can.. he said he's waiting to hear from his bro, if he doesn't call he will ask my brother to come next weekend to do it. Argh, put off another week.. AND my brother in my house (I hate that) AND asking my brother to do anything (hate this even more). We'll be indebted and he'll expect me to pay him or something.
  16. ((Pam & Denise)) Sorry I don't have anything beautiful to say, but know you're both in my thoughts.
  17. No text for me  :w00t: :tt1: We went to Mexican for lunch.. got a dinner plate, and ate 2 bites lol. Was 2 enchiladas, a tamale, and a chili relleno. Sounded really good, then all I wanted was the chips & cheese. Got the rest to-go for my little par-tay with buddies tonight.. they ordering a pizza, and I wasn't going to tell them not to, so just bringing my own food. I hate pizza, it's weird how my whole life that's the go-to food for parties and gatherings.. yuck!
  18. I never had PCOS, but I know I was infertile.. I thought it had to do with my pelvic kidney, or just the way my cards were dealt.. I was suppose to start fertility testing stuff this year, and hadn't gotten to it yet... when voila I was pregnant. So the band definitely had something to do with that, must have been weight keeping me from being fertile before.
  19. I can do this too actually.. if I suck in my gut, then lift up my pannis.. I can see the bump I would have, if I didn't have a flabby belly.

1 year check up - is this normal?

I think it's normal if you haven't had a swallow since banding.
  21. I rarely get starbucks, but when I do.. Hot Chocolate everytime.. Num num num. Theirs is the best.
  22. Right, they can't remove your band if you break the agreement. And in all actuality, it may be a liability thing. That's what accutane agreement was for (and because it can cause major deformities), so that in case you did get pregnant, you had no chance of saying you didn't know, or couldn't get a doctor in trouble for malpractice for any complications resulting in pregnancy + (band or med,etc.).

    Very Bitter

How hard would it be to get a new job you'd be happy with? Vent away
  24. It was 30's this morning, and suppose to be 18 (they said eighteen!!) tonight. I am going to a friend's tonight for a girls night out. Glad the heater in our cars work fantabulous. TGIF!! I weighed myself last night, still 229lb. YAAAAAAAAAAY. I have stalled for a month now, that makes me happy to no end. If I can keep this up by my next obgyn appt. I may save getting a lecture, especially in front of Russell.
