I think the best advice to you at this point, is to go to a seminar. I recommend Dr. Freeman in Anniston, AL-- he was my doctor and I have nothing but praises for him. But there are plenty in the area to choose from-- pick one and just attend the seminar. Get more info, be there in person to ask questions, etc. That's not committing to anything and it's the next step from where you are now. Good luck

'bama bandiversary bash/baby shower!!
Daisalana replied to Teachlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like how Carson dances with us! When I was looking at the baby book I got, it has a spot for 'first vacation'. V trip is going to be his first vacation!!! Gotta take lots of pics of him with his aunties so I can tell him all about it one day. -
Maybe I should take a full body pic in the mirror so you can see.. I gained 38lbs so far, so 38lbs gotta be somewhere if it's not on the baby LOL.

Just the other side of the coin though.. Your daughter has been gaining weight, just from 2x pieces of toast every day? If she's eating healthy the rest of the day, that doesn't seem likely.. She has freewill, I'm not saying it's anyone's 'fault', but keep in mind that when she's not under your nose, she is going to eat what she wants (obviously from this little revelation). Not saying granny was in the right, misguided at the very least and in the wrong at worst.. but your daughter could have chosen not to eat it. Since she didn't, and you said she's gaining weight.. who is to say she will tell her friends 'no' when they have goodies, etc. Not offering advice, just things to think about ) I think the laptop will be a good incentive for her to make good choices.

Hey Heather, you definitely need to go get that unfill. There's 2 sides.. for me, I have had a few days SUPER tight during pregnancy, that subside, then I'm wide open for a few days, etc. On the other hand, the original super tight I got, I did get an unfill immediately, and if I hadn't, I can't imagine what my super tight days would be like. If it's not getting any better from being on liquids, you need to get it handled ASAP. My doc is 3 hours each way also, but I know of a band doc in town who will unfill me if I have an emergency (to the tune of $600!!), but if it's an emergency--it's an emergency. My ER would call this guy in to do it, if I had to go to the ER for it (he was called when they thought I had appendicitis, just so a band doc was around if I needed surgery). Just to ease your mind, I say call your ER and ask them if they have any docs experienced in the band that could do an emergency unfill. If they don't know what you're talking about, ask to talk to someone who can help you (some reason I think a receptionist that answers would be oblivious to this request). If they can do it, and they ease your mind about who could do it.. I'd go get it done today. Other options, call bariatric surgeons in your area and ask if they band other patients, or can help with an emergency unfill.

Morning Sickness..or lack thereof

Oy.. good luck, hopefully the unfill fixes you up! -
Oh, went and looked at the pic. It's not photoshopped, but it may look like a big bruise-- it's really just washed with betadine. I don't think it needs censoring honestly, like Terry said.. full disclosure. I don't think babying people on the forums is the way to go.. if seeing a needle in a belly is enough to keep you from getting surgery--well then you don't need to get it, cause needles in the belly is part of it! And you are awake for it!

Everyone says I'm a whale! In fact, when I'm in my jammies/undies and look in the mirror it looks huge to me. I was surprised at how small it looks in that pic :/ How often do I say that?? But my mom & russ both make comments about 'all the weight you've gained'. Pisses me off to no end, and I try not to think about it because it does make me so mad. I KNOW.. leave me alone!! Same with my doc, but I told ya'll that.

I wasn't trying to conceive, but I conceived 16 months post-op and only 32lbs from goal (waah). I'm gaining quite a bit with pregnancy unfortunately, but I plan to get an adjustment when baby is born and get back to it. Definitely think it's good (especially now knowing how much I gained) to wait till you've lost weight, to reduce any discomfort or health problems that come with being overweight. My doc was strict on RnY patients & when they could conceive, because of malnutrition and he had patients who couldn't carry to term due to this early on.. but for banding, he didn't really have a timeline. I think at least 1 year is good so you've learned about the band and how it affects your body, and also like I said to have lost the weight.

I like guacamole on pretty much anything. My favorite is like a greasy cheesy enchilada.. or greasy beefy taquito.. ho hum.

Heather- Me & siblings were always little turds when parents woke us up. None of us are morning people, although I'm now the one having to wake up a grumpy husband every single morning.. anyway, we always yelled back at my dad when he woke us up with the "GO TO HELL" tone. I just got to work, we had to stick around and wait for nursery furniture to be delivered.. and last night on my NEW CAR a tire blew out. I had my uncle look at it (I was on my way to his place for Wii Fit) and he said all my tires were bald and I had a nail in the one that is now shredded. So I took them this morning to get new tires.. ugh. Little pissed off the dealership didn't say anything when I bought them, and I am naive, I have no idea what a bald tire looks like.. so annoyed Russ didn't check it out, I pointed out the tire light was on when I bought it, but the dealership said it's cause it's cold blah blah.. and I told Russ and he just shrugged it off. Anyway, so now that's done.. got into work. From sitting around my house, my allergies are so bad right now. I can't breathe!! Did I tell ya'll we are going to Tunica this weekend for my birthday? Counting down the days! I think I said this last time, but this REALLY will be my last trip down there for a while. Russ & I use to go to Vegas for my b'day, past 2 years we've done Tunica. We're going with my parents, my dad is playing in a WSOP tournament this weekend. I want a nap so bad! I had a breakfast burrito from sonic and pb'd pretty much the whole thing.

That sounds like symptoms of pre-eclampsia?? All the Fluid retention and face puffiness. Trying hard as I can to stop gaining, I'm up 37lbs today, but I've been within 1 pound for 2 weeks now, WHEW. I started doing Wii Fit a couple weeks ago, hoping that helps just to get me moving. Heartburn has gotten reeeeeally bad. I miss Prilosec these days. I have been nauseated twice in the past week--which is new to me. I didn't have the morning sickness, but both times were in the morning and saltines did fix it. -
Holy cow.. I read a headline about this, but I thought it was a joke and didn't look at the article. I can't even imagine. Wonder what 8 babies feel like when they get hiccups or kick you!!

Yeah, jelly beans are disgusting too!! Marshmellow candy (anything with marshmellow in it) and jelly beans.. and licorice.. YUCK. I need to keep focusing on these gross candies, just thinking about them makes me not want candy..teehee. I had some Haribo gummi bears (my fav.) while talking to a customer.
-
Peeps are disgusting!! Blech. I don't like any marshmellow stuffs. Went to Tellini's for lunch (another Blech) and got a pasta sampler, they were all gross.. good thing I guess, but I'm hungry. Russ & I can't ever agree on where to go for lunch, one of us always doesn't like it.
-
Same here Judy! I remember this conversation from last year with you LOL. I am not a huge fan of chocolate (don't get me wrong, I don't DISLIKE it) but if I am craving something, it's like gummi bears, ice cream, donuts.. not chocolate. But the cadbury mini-eggs.. whole nother ballgame. I LOVE those things. I am going to be avoiding the drug stores from now till...sheesh, April!

Congratulations! If you are having a hard time eating solid Protein, I would recommend getting a slight unfill at the minimum. Another person drinks the LBT water!!! :cursing: -

Morning Sickness..or lack thereof
Daisalana replied to eejaydiva's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
The exhaustion only briefly went away for me somewhere around 3-4 months.. but it came back and has stuck with me. I feel like I'm over-doing it every day, even though I'm not doing all that much. On weekends (when I don't work) I take a nap every day. I wake up normal 8am, by noon I am asleep again on the couch or in bed, and I'm up around 5pm, and back in bed by 8pm. On weekdays, I get home from work and go straight to bed--watch some tv & then pass out.. I was insomniac before, so this is real interesting!! I have not had to take sleeping pills since the first trimester. -

Aww ((LJM)).. almost there!!! I start my 3rd trimester tomorrow. Woohoo! Still seems like suddenly this is taking forever. He is more active and I can 'make' him move now, when I need reassurance (though I try not to do this too often!).. by laying on my back and poking at him. DH has been able to feel him, which is nice.. He also does something, I think maybe it's hiccups, where my whole belly starts jiggling. It could be a big kick but they come at intervals that make me think it's hiccups. Feb. 4th I go for my 28 week 4-d ultrasound. I want to confirm the penis, although it's a bit late for that now with everything I've bought. The tech had a hard time getting to see his genitals because he was sitting up breech and she could only get so low.. but at some point she finally got a shot, I just want to confirm it! We start parenting & childbirth classes in February also.. and 1 breastfeeding class I am going to. I am afraid I won't be able to breastfeed  I'm hoping I'm just over-worried. My nipples are flat/inverted, which is why I got them pierced so they'd stay out.. well I tried taking out the jewelry and they go flat again. I did some test I read on a parenting website to 'test' if your nipples will be latch-on-able.. and mine failed. -
That's a great idea Terry-I 2nd it.. one of Russ' relatives did that for our wedding invitation too. They used a pressed flowers frame and put it in there.. we have it on our entertainment center next to our sand ceremony vase thingy. Tracy- I had a herniated & bulging disk (both in lower back) and the orthopedic doc was a FORMER orthopedic surgeon--who turned anti-surgery (interesting, eh?) he said he realized surgery did most people more harm than good, fusing disks, etc. together would cause more problems down the road.. so he sent me to PT. It was a long PAINFUL road, but they got them back into place.. Mine was moreso painful because some reason no one would ever give me pain meds.. I look like a junkie or something  This is the PT who ended up callin the doc himself and saying I NEED to be on them for treatment. Anywho, they did fix it, though my back pains remained due to weight. I know the neck has nothing to do with weight, so hopefully you'll get relief a lot quicker than I did!! Both my parents have had surgery for slipped disks (dad in lower back, mom in neck).. mom has a rod in her neck now and it's been a couple of years.. and now her pain is back, so she's looking into a disk implant which is a new procedure they are trying out. Tis the season for Cadbury's mini eggs (SIGH). Went to Rite Aid last night and I was havin issues.
