    Problem w/Reflux more after surgery

I swear by Prilosec.. it's not instant (takes me 6 hours-ish to go into effect if I missed a day but the box says 24 hours). I take it once a day. I have chronic heartburn (pre-op) but they told me not to take them (post-op) until I'm 2 weeks out. I have not had a problem for the first time since I was a kid with heartburn since the operation, but I worry that I am having heartburn, it's just not making its way up. But for treatment, I've been on heartburn meds since I was 10. Tums/Rolaids only worked for 30 minutes, zantac didn't help me at all (on vacation if I forgot enough prilosec, I would try zantac since it's in most stores much to my dismay). If your doctor said it's not due to some underlying problem and it's just heartburn, do try Prilosec OTC. I swear by it. I lived on it for years, one a day! I NEVER got heartburn, and I literally would have it 24 hours a day otherwise.

    When stuff gets "stuck"

I ate jello too fast the other day. I was reading the forum and not thinking about the bites I had, but I started to feel stuck.. and I looked and saw I ate most of the cup very quickly. So it was all sitting there.. I panicked and gulped some water.. it made it worse, and without pain/effort/warning it ALL just came right back up (and all over my lap). If something gets stuck, your body will likely get rid of it (vomit/pb/whatever). If it can't get rid of it, I hear about walking, and then the next step would be dr. (if it's something that wouldn't 'dissolve' on its own).

    Diet change and your bowls

Let nature take its course. I don't know about it 'cleaning out' anything, but it's likely your body adjusting. And when you do an all liquid diet, your poo will be liquid.

    For Your Liquids----tea

My doctor told me not to have more than 2 glasses of tea a day. (I went to get the paper that said why, can't find it ) Has something to do with absorbtion of stuff I think.

Dynamo- Is it not too early for you to have mushies according to your dr? I go on 'all liquids' tomorrow, and mushies a week from tomorrow (I saw we were banded same day is why I ask). --- The pain I had last night is now more of a constant pain and covering more area. I guess the gas is moving around. Went to my parent's today.. fiance wanted to catch up on 24 with my dad, so me and mom were bathing suit shopping online (she gets to go to the bahamas this week!!). My dad hasn't seen me since the surgery, and he was asking a lot of questions.. and I have lost 2inches off waist as of a couple days ago, but with as big as I am, it takes more than 15lbs to show weight loss. He was saying 'Maybe it's just in my head, but you look skinnier already!' lol I got a little tired and nauseated from the pain thats radiating out now, so I had my sister take me home. I got the Gazelle from my parent's house (it's been in their attic for years). Before I hit the gym at work, I want to get use to exercising again.. gazelle is not some high-impact thing, but I figure it's about the same as a tredmill. I did 5 minutes on it when I got home, it's a bit quicker than walking, so I got extremely tired and wore out early on. But I've started exercising, woohoo! I'm not eating enough I don't think, I've been doing the MyPlate.com thing and I get about 300 calories a day (sometimes less) . Anyone else this low in liquid phase? I'm not sure what else I'm suppose to have to make that go up, but I'm not drinking 3 shakes a day.. 1 if I'm lucky.

Thank you Kat!!! It is good news! They don't know what it is! ) But, that means it's NOT a blood clot. I'm so thankful. It's probably just gas or a twisted muscle. But if anyone else has a pain like this, I'd still go get it checked out. After reading about the other girl's situation, and when I saw she was only 20, I realized it could be true! I googled the information on symptoms of lung blood clots, and everything it said about the chest pain was dead on for me. But luckily it's probably just a big gas ball! Time to sleep now Hugs!!

    Sharp Pain.. Please Help?

Well, thanks for the info.. but it's not a blood clot! (WHEW!!) I was panicky until we got there. They did a cat-scan with dye in my veins, and I guess it checked out. He said he doesn't know what it is, so I'll keep on wondering if it's gas or twisted muscle.. but at least it's not a blood clot!! He said if it's not better in a week to come back or call my doctor because it might be bronchritis??? I don't know where that came from, I guess because breathing causes the sharp pain. But I definitely fit the description from the online symptoms of a lung blood clot. I'm so glad it wasn't! Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts!! I had to get another IV, big bummer. Just the other day I was SO happy to get out of the hospital after lap-banding that I told fiance the next time I step foot in a hospital it better be when we're having kids. lol

    Sharp Pain.. Please Help?

Well, damn. I googled blood clots in the lung and I fit all the symptoms Now I'm paranoid. Mom's on her way to pick me up so we can go to the ER :)

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I'm just post crazy today, I've been on lap-band for hours. Anyway, I decided on my 'reward system'. I thought about doing a charm bracelet, but I get anxiety just thinking about it. Like magnets, shot-glasses and keychains. I collect these things. And when I started collecting, I worried about the fact I didn't get one from a trip before I started the collection. It's neurotic, I know. So I decided, every 10lbs I am going to buy a new pair of shoes and a new purse (I love shoes & purses!). So.. since I'm down 14lbs.. I am shopping tomorrow :heh: :clap2:

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents.. the rep thing bothers me! I keep looking at mine and getting self-conscious.. It feels like a popularity contest thing. :think

    Sharp Pain.. Please Help?

Thanks for the info!! About 30m ago, I had a series of muscle spasms in my 'spot' that hurts. Afterward, the pain has moved a little bit to the right. So I'm a little relieved, I don't think it is a complication with the band anymore, just gas I guess?

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Just an update on my pain. About 30m ago I had a series of muscle spasms in that 'spot' in my ribcage that is hurting. I didn't move, was letting the spasms go, hoping when it was done, the pain would miraculously be gone. Well, it just moved. But.. to me, thats a good sign that it's not because my band is broken or something horrible. So my ouch spot moved to the right a little. So maybe this is gas??? Haydee- Good idea, I'm going to get prune juice tomorrow!! I was surprised, my doctor had me take magnesium citrate the day before surgery, and everyone told me how it's like an enima and I'll be living on the can. Well I took it, and I had 3 SMALL SMALL bowel movements and that was that. And now, since surgery, I have yet to produce anything real productive. I worried a little, but took into account I'm not eating food right now, so it's just liquids. But even liquids I thought should be coming out pretty well. I'll try prune juice and see what comes of it.

Who does Number 2 work for?

I have no kids, but amused at this thread. Not to be mean, because I know you're struggling with this. It just reminds me of my childhood! I had a bed-wetting problem until I was 12. And I've even done it once in a blue moon since then (as late as 7 months ago (at age 22!!!).. luckily even though I've lived with DF for years, this happened on a vacation and he didn't have to find out!!) It's not related to the pooping, but I had to wear diapers, and back in those days they didn't have goodnytes. And also, I was a BIG kid, so I had to wear noisy, big bulky depends to slumber parties. It was miserable. I would cry thinking I would get married one day and still be wetting the bed, etc. Anyway- about the pooping, I've always thought pooping was a sacred ritual for men. Even my male cat. Their throne. They like to spend 'quality time' with the toilet. It's crazy. Maybe this is why.. because their mom has to spend so much attention getting them to do it, so they regress when they go to the toilet! LOL. I really am sorry you're having to go through this, and hope it resolves itself soon!!

    Need breakfast ideas

Does that REALLY fill you up for the morning??? I'm pre-fill and living on Clear liquids right now, but healing and expect that. So will something as small as any of those (after a good fill) really curb hunger for the morning?

Food Sympathy, do you get this?

I had to post-it just happened again!! :phanvan Mom just called and asked how I'm feeling. Then I said "Where are you?" because she was on my dad's cell.. and she goes 'we were driving around'-something they've NEVER EVER done. She rarely goes anywhere.. much less drivin around for the sake of drivin around. So I said 'To where?' and she said 'Just driving'. So I thought, they went to dinner and she doesn't want to say dinner like it's gonna hurt me? Then I hear my dad in the background ordering birthday cake ice cream So I Said 'so you went to get ice cream' and she laughs and goes 'Yes, I was going to see if you wanted us to get you and Russell (my df) some, then I remembered.. SORRY!!!' And I said "It's OK! I don't want ice cream, but you could still bring Russell some.' she goes "I don't want to do that to you, he can get some when he comes over tomorrow". Grr. I reitterated, it does NOT bother me! In fact, I just ate my dinner of chicken broth and I'm quite full at the moment. Just ranting..

Food Sympathy, do you get this?

Thanks for the input!! I think I'll just have to wait till they get used to it, and insist NOTHING is cancelled until they do. My family supported me 100% and parents paid for it for me.. I think they're afraid I won't be able to handle it, because (obviously) in the past, I am obsessed with food. But that's changing

    Large Penis Posts

LOLOL. I came here for pics too! Darn it... May be saying too much, but from my experience, penis size correlates with hands, not feet. DF has size 11 shoes (I consider this fairly small for men), but big hands and well equipped. And Wheet.. I can't wait to say I weigh less than DF!!! That's never happened.

    i'm an exercise-infomercial junkie!

The Gazelle! My parents bought that years ago when I lived in the house, I love that thing. Just reminded me they said I could have it now. I don't think it ever helped in weight loss, but it was a fun toy. I bought the Bean after a recommendation I found here, It was neat.. served it's purpose in helping the pain in my back.. then one of my cats popped it. I have NO CLUE how, it's a tough little thing. Woke up 2 days ago and it was deflated in the middle of the living room and the cats sleeping on it. I tried the ab-roller too years ago, didn't do squat. I have a gym at work that has a lot of real machines.. and it's for free!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

That's interesting, I'm opposite of that too!! I posted a thread about food sympathy.. my family is like walking on eggshells about eating around me.. and it does NOT bother me. I mentioned there, while they eat the yummy foods, I'm fantasizing about what my body will be in a year. I drank water while they ate. It's good you took yourself out of the situation.. but I would think of a way to deal with it (gradually), because everyone eats.. and everywhere you go, people are eating!! I'm not sure what kind of advice to give on that. I'm not dying of hunger yet, so it hasn't been a big burden to me. Is there nothing there you can have? Soup?

Grits.. to be or not to be?

Crab.. I think he was trying to poke at me for saying I didn't like chicken I saw Jack mention being able to eat some form of steak, something that didn't ring a bell to me, I guess it's really tender steak. But my idea of steak is what comes from Steak Out, and it's not the softest/leanest steak out there. As stated before, I'm not a cook!

Jennifur- I'm the opposite with BM's. I feel like I have to, then nothing happens, and I strain. It's not even every day either. I was thinking of taking some sort of laxative to get it going, possibly help the pain I'm having. My gas seems to be bad at night when I'm laying in bed, my stomach makes sooo many noises then.

Margi- I'm SO glad I'm not alone, this means I didn't completely mess myself up. Well maybe not, but it seems like an odd coincidence we both did something horrible to ourselves unknowingly!! About gum, my dietician said NO! She said if you accidentally swallow gum it can get lodged in the opening, and require an operation to remove it. I'm not a gum chewer, so it's not a big deal to me.. but that seems like a high risk for someone who wants to chew! wasabubblebutt mentioned somewhere else she still chews it though. Since you're having problems with #2 too, hopefully that's just our problem. Whew. I feel so much better now!!
