I am pretty proud of myself. For the first time in my life, I've gone a month without soda. I battled my addiction to Mt. Dew.. fought the headaches.. Even in the past during dieting, I always allotted enough calories for me to have 1 a day at least (and it worked!), but I knew carbonation was bad for the band, doctor told me NO cokes, so a few weeks before surgery I quit cold turkey. I have finally aquired a taste for water (I never thought the day would come), and even though my fiance still drinks the dew, and its all over the house and I have to step over the cases.. I have not be tempted!

I admit, I do plan to try this. I know fiance would love it.. meat and potato man. So I think when I'm able to have something like this, I'd likely make it and have plenty of leftovers! Just wouldn't eat half of it, like I would have a couple weeks ago Right.. broth.. sip sip sip. :faint:

Just wanted to report back for anyone interested. Until TODAY I have not found a protein supplement food/shake/mix/etc. that I could handle. I was using SlimFast High Protein shake in the morning, but that's not enough protein for the day so I've been slacking My IDS New-Whey Test Tube things came today.. HURRAY! Ok, they are 20x the size I thought they would be-so no shooting like I'd hoped.. not entirely. I got 12 fruit punch 42g, and 12 blue raspberry 25g. I just opened a fruit punch.. it is a tiny bit sour.. and does have some 'weird' taste to it, but it's extremely palatable for me! I've drank half of this 42g one in 3 sips. And now I've had 21g of protein! HURRAY!!!!!!!!! My days of nasty azz shakes are over. I know everyone's different, since some people like Matrix and I thought it was horrible, but I'm glad to say I finally found a way to get in my protein. Yay New Whey! Rhymin all over the place

Welcome back adorable! Glad it went well -
And you're pre-band? I would worry that AFTER banding, it would be hard to get in touch with someone for information with how they are handling things. My only complaint with my doctor is no one has e-mail and I really prefer to do things in e-mail. When I call, 2/3 times they are busy and ask me to leave a voicemail for someone to call me back. And they always do within the hour. My pain doctors, they do not even TAKE phone calls. You have to leave a voicemail anytime you need ANYTHING (to make an appt, to follow up, to get refills, etc.) They drive me absolutely nuts, I've officially dropped them for it. I would leave voicemails with all my info, saying call me ASAP (for example, last time I needed injections), and 5 days later, and about 20 voicemails, they finally called me back. Just got the info (I already left on the voicemail) from me, and said my nurse would call me back!!! I lost my temper with them big time. So I completely sympathize, I hate hate hate when it's important and they don't get back or they lose things.. Whew.. so.. be careful going into it if this is how they treat you pre-band

Pebbles... Don't rush this decision. Please make sure you're well informed and do your research first. It's not a quick fix!! As for smoking, I am a smoker, and it was important that I was able to keep smoking because in the past, anytime I try to quit, I gained 50lbs from stuffing my face I knew I could give up one or the other for now, but NOT both. I am still smoking, I did have a blood clot scare last weekend.. it wasn't a blood clot, but the ER doctor really chewed me out for 1. Having Surgery 2.Taking B/C (even though I haven't taken it in a while due to surgery) and 3. Smoking He said pick one or the other (B/C or smokes).. I pick condoms and smokes. Haha. I know, I'm horrible. But it's honest at least.. As for drinking, I was never a big drinker so it doesn't bother me that I was told not to. My doctor does GB and LB, and the dietician was talking to me and a girl getting GB the same day about our nutrition info. It was different. She told the GB girl NO ALCOHOL WHATSOEVER. She told me, be very moderate and NO carbonated alcohol. Because, carbonation isn't good for the pouch from what I've found out. I guess you could drink wine and maybe hard liquor? I don't have good advice on this really, I have read people around here doing it, but I don't plan to do it anytime soon. Just because it's courteous- You should stop smoking. But I know how it is, everyone said that to me along the way. Please research though, do not make a hasty decision.

Also wanted to point out, I guess depending on your situation, but it would cost me a vacation's amount to have an unfill and a refill just to binge on a trip.
-
Well, my doctor did address this specifically. In some INamed handbook thing I had to read and take a 'quiz' on.. it said Reasons to Get an Unfill: and listed 'So I can eat on vacation', and you clearly were NOT suppose to circle that. The band is not suppose to come and go to accomodate your binges. You might drop a mint on a vacation, but -to me- that's not an excuse to have to overeat! I dropped a mint on this band..much more than any vacation I've ever been on (so far). You should be learning to eat a small amount of food. Getting unfilled so you can occasionally eat more than you need to be eating doesn't sound very logical. I don't mean to sound like I'm attacking you, but why would you want to get the band done and go back to old habits?

About the poo WAS.. you're right. It took me a while to have my first BM from surgery and only with the help of Prune Juice. I haven't had one again in 3-4 days, but since I'm not taking in a whole helluva lot it's not bothering me. I'll take Prune Juice again when I feel like I need to go

mmmmm i get mushies in 10 days
-
Just so you know, my official first 'mushy' food is going to be crab. Ever since I started this thread I've been craving crabcakes.
-
Am i the only one here who cant have potatoes/pasta on mushy stage?
Daisalana replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, in mushies.. you can't have chicken and lots of veggies.. so it's kind of.. dive into the taters! I've been eating sweet potato baby's 1st foods. Yum yum. -
LOL. The title pulled me in. The nutrition info doesn't seem to be the best, but it DOES look delicious! I'm going to go sip on some broth now.. hehehehe.

My doctor said no more NSAIDs.. and since I am trying not to have slip or erosion, I am sticking to his guidelines!! I will have to check Rite Aid.. I normally go to CVS, and CVS didn't have it. Couldn't find anyone at Kroger to ask, but did not see it on my own. I got the Bubble Gum flavor children's tylenol. It's pretty gross, I gag if I drink it too quickly. And I have to take so much to make it an adult dose. And then I get no relief. And I don't like black olives, but LOVE green olives. Stuffed with the pimentos. Mmmmmm.. or almonds... MMMMM.. And I think I'm in my right mind (most of the time ). Since doctor just refilled my liquid lortab, I'll be using that for all my pains for the time being. That stuff isn't too hot either. I can get it down quickly, but the after taste is horrendous. It's the generic brand. Not sure if the normal one tastes any different.

Wheetsin- I'm glad you said that. I thought I was going crazy!!! I took measurements 1 week pre-op and 1 week post-op. I've lost inches all over my body.. but my boobs? My already too-big-for-comfort boobs went UP 3 inches. I remeasured thinking it was wrong, but no.. And then I thought, I've got to be the only person to GAIN INCHES on boobs during weight loss. I didn't think about it being like the penis gainin from weight loss. This thread is cracking me up. I'm going to keep my mouth shut though.

I called my doctor about the pain. Been worried they will ask me to come in and its 6 hours.. I talked about the pain, about what the ER told me and such. She said it sounds like I strained a muscle and to make sure I am not lifting anything heavy (oops?). She said she's calling me in more pain medicine and to keep taking it, because it's important for me to heal. So I guess that's the route I'll be taking for now. She said if by Friday I still hurt, they will push up my follow up appointment then. -
I'm also partial to advil.. when all my back problems started my doctor said muscle pains need Advil since it's an anti-inflammatory. I feel the same as you..I got the Tylenol for children because it's the only liquid version I found. I asked the pharmacist if they had liquid tylenol for adults and she said no.. Anytime I've taken it-besides the yuck taste-, it hasn't don't anything to help the pain. But after seeing Wheetin's post, maybe if I could find the adult extra-strength it would help. I do miss advil though

About the skin coming off during waxing.. I've gone to the same lady for 5 years, she is the only one who makes them 'perfect' to me hehe. 1/10 times I go, it peels the skin off in places. 10/10 times its red. I didn't associate it with anything except that it was a large/thick amount of hair (like if I've waited a while to go in, and a lot has grown back), and when the hair's ripped, it just rips the skin with it.

Browsing around, anyone ever had the Russell Stover's Net Carb breakfast bars? I love their carb-free candies.. didn't know they made anything else.. I'd be willing to try the bars, but I've never met a breakfast bar I liked. -

50lbs in a month is awesome, congratulations (I did read the rest of it, but I'm trying to - in one ear, out the other- since I'm in bandster hell and don't need to give myself any bad ideas )

It may not be the healthiest, but I found a way to take my 'allegedly' tasteless protein powder. It either clumped or made things taste funky, so I've been on a quest to find something I can have that masks the taste. I have no sugar added hot chocolate mix.. It's 60 calories per pack, I used 2 packs, so still less calories than the slimfast I have. Added 1+3/4 the amount of water suppose to be used, so it's REALLY chocolatey. Then added protein powder. Worked well, was warm so it felt good going down, yummy chocolate not some diet chocolate taste, and got a good bit of protein. -

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Well I'm still dealing with that pain. It's still strong as ever.. I have noticed a correlation though. When I am eating, it is much worse. If I get 'full', it's horrible. Tonight I was full from my soup, and was walking all over the house trying to stop the pain (since people say walking helps many pains..). Walking didn't do anything for me. It's still hurting as I type this. I took some of my Rx pain meds to try to help, it's really flared up tonight. I had learned ways to push on it and manipulate it so it doesnt hurt, it's working less and less lately I'm trying to wait till my dr's follow up on May 9th.. hope it goes away soon!!
