mdrai- Me too. I'm not much of a sweater, I only sweat regularly on the bridge of my nose, but I'm normally ALWAYS hot with beads of sweat on my nose. Even in winter, I'm the only one in the office bumping the air on, etc. Feel like I'm in a permanent hot flash until a week ago. I'm trying to enjoy the fact that I'm not hot anymore, but I'm SO cold I can't get comfortable. Fiance keeps saying 'put on more clothes'!! I have been wearing flannel pj pants, camisole, BIG SWEATER, knee-high fuzzy socks and I'm still frozen...and he says put on more clothes!

Me and fiance have always been in agreement about the temperature in our house. We're both always hot, so we keep the air like on 65 year round.. At work all the skinny girls are ALWAYS cold, so we always joke about how they don't have enough insulation etc.. Well.. this past week I've been literally FREEZING MY BUTT OFF at home!!!! I keep bumping the air off, and me and fiance fight about it. He walks over and shows me he's sweating, and I put my hands on him and I'm like an ice cube. I've never been the cold one ANYWHERE!! I'm not skinny(duh), so is there some kind of correlation between weight loss in general or, maybe because I'm not taking in a lot of calories yet? It's very new to me.

Congrats on the loss!!! Some mushies (not recipes, I don't cook) I am planning to do.. grits, crab cakes (confirmed, other banders said crab cakes work well for mushies!), ricotta cheese cooked with tomato sauce (mmmm), and my doctor said for mushies I can incorporate tuna and chicken (Bleeeeh), if pureed into a salad.. they sell pre-packaged tuna and chicken salads in the cold aisle at grocery store...I think where they have deli meats. Could toss some of that in a bullet.. I plan on getting the tuna one. Pimento cheese maybe too.. just dawned on me, that's sold in same area as those, not sure nutrition on pimento cheese, but its worth a look

Today I Have had CRAZY hiccups!!! I have had more hiccups since the surgery, than I normally would.. But today I had hiccups 8 times!!

Oh, and my uncle did the nutrisystem.. or tried. He bought it all, so about a week later I asked how it went.. he said "Oh the food was good, but I ate the whole months' supply in 1 night" lol

I had wanted to try Nutrisystem pre-band.. it was too much $$ for me to spend at one time. Spread out over the time you'd be eating it, I think it's alright, but I didn't have the lump cash at any point to spend..

My only observation is that your weight loss will probably be slower than others, since you do not have a whole lot left to lose. I think most people as they near 'goal' slow down considerably and it looks as though you're pretty close

I was self-pay and they were very responsive. I had done my research and I WAS GOING TO GET THE BAND NO MATTER WHAT. So I said, I'm self-pay, I want this done TOMORROW-but I know that's not realistic, so lets get everything done I need. So they scheduled me for my pre-op requirements that the doctor requires (evaluation, meeting, consultation thing.. psychological exam..) did that about 2 weeks later, and we scheduled my surgery that day. I am very lucky and GLAD I did not have to sit on this for a while. Once I set my mind to something, I'm anxious.. Even the month (I think that's the total time it took me from my first meeting to surgery) it took before the surgery, I was wishing I could have gone any day in between! Keep pestering!!

Just wanted to drop in and wave my flag... I'm an extreme right-wing republican who strongly supports Bush. I'm a pretty stereotypical republican to. I go ape-shit when I think about welfare..especially on Friday when I get my paycheck.. Glad to see other Bush supporters, on forums I frequent, it's SUCH a small group of people, and sometimes it's hard to fight the battle alone!

I've said it before, I wasn't really keeping it a secret, I told friends and family and co-workers. I thought everyone knew! Today I went to lunch with the office girls, we go out on Fridays to a Mexican place (luckily for me, I don't like Mexican and always had a hard time eating there, so it didn't bother me at all not to be eating)...and when I walked in with my friend, 3 of the CSR girls said "I thought you were on vacation, I didn't know you had surgery!", and that's the last of 'everyone I know' knowing LOL. I thought they all knew, but I was the topic of conversation for 30 minutes.. lots of questions, and of course.. the typical "I know someone who had GB and this and this and this..they did great blah blah".

It sounds cliche, but when I think about love.. real love.. you can't sum it up in words. That's how I feel about it. If I had to put on paper how I felt about my fiance, there's no words that feel adequate, big enough, strong enough, and 'felt' enough to explain what I feel. This song always summed up my relationship with fiance.. (more than words by extreme) Saying I love you Is not the words I want to hear from you Its not that I want you Not to say, but if you only knew How easy it would be to show me how you feel More than words is all you have to do to make it real Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me Cos Id already know My family is big on saying I love you everytime we talk, and that's fine.. but with fiance, couple years ago, we weren't saying I love you, but we lived together and had been together a while.. and one day we talked about it.. And he said "If I have to say I love you, for you to know, I'm doing something wrong". Ever since, whenever it's an 'I love you' kind of moment, he just gets this soft look and nuzzles me. I know it's gooey LOL. But saying I love you just doesn't do justice sometimes. I don't think I answered the original question, I'm off on my own tangent..

I sympathize. It's been a while since that kind of thing happened (high school, which was 6 years ago for me), but I remember about 2 years ago.. out of no where.. me and fiance went out to dinner somewhere. And some reason I became the target of some girls jokes. I was really just emberassed since my fiance picked up on it too. He's not into 'big girls'.. but he fell in love with me and had to deal with it LOL. But anytime something 'reminds' him I'm fat, I get nervous. I still occasionally feel like he doesn't notice I'm fat after all these years and one day he'll go 'Wow, she's fat..'.. it's weird I know. Even getting this surgery, I know my face was beet red when I asked him his thoughts on it. I didn't want him thinking about me being fat.. and I still wouldn't let him take my 'before' pictures.. I had to set up the camera. This is just one of those issues I think I hide from the world. I don't 'act' fat, I don't 'feel' fat.. it's my deep dark secret (I know, I'm a little off my rocker). Hugs to you, and like someone else said.. that was always my motto in high school which is why it didn't bother me too bad.. I can lose the weight, and 100% of girls who ever gave me shit, were BUTT UGLY but had a nice body.. so I had no problem telling them about how one day I'd lose weight, but no amount of plastic surgery could fix the remains of the ugly stick someone slapped them with

Just my 2 cents, I have a good friend... and she's overweight but not by much.. She just has big hips really.. Well she has ALWAYS had a disgusting smell about her. I would have to smoke a lot when she was in my apartment, and when we drove places, had to keep windows down. I've never said something to her.. I learned early on, she can't help it. I've never smelled it like this on anyone else.. But she would spend the night, take a shower, I know she used soap, she even borrowed my perfume/body spray.. and she still smelled DISGUSTING! I don't know what it was.. I had a hart time when she wanted to borrow clothes.. I would end up telling her to keep them (the smell would linger in clothes). I don't think it had anything to do with her weight, and I don't know how she didn't smell it. I smell myself.. I smell my perfume, or when I'm workin out and get sweaty I can smell my pits stinkin..

I would never stick a vegetable in the wrong hole LOL!! Don't you remember the horror stories when you were a kid? The girl with the hot dog that broke off, etc.

Glad to hear it helped sex drive in some people.. In the past about 6 months, mine has been dead. I have to work REALLY hard to get psyched up for it.. and it's unusual, we use to be horn dogs and the sex is great with fiance.. but some reason I've just been really tuned out and turned off. I have gained quite a bit of weight in the past year, so I was HOPING it just had to do with the weight gain and when I lose weight it would help. I don't want to think we've hit any plateau at such an early age!

Ok here's mine.. this is 9 days post-op. The port incision, the red dots on all 4 sides is what I'm guessing the tools they use to hold open the skin.. originally I thought it was needle holes, but after seeing it in a pic, doesn't look to be. The bottom left incision (right in the pic) I did a doozy.. ripped band aid off and it left a burning welt on my side.. that's the worst of all this for now!! They look darker in this pic than they really are, you can hardly notice them (except the ones with scabs are noticable). I also broke out into some sort of rash, I guess from the tape. Most of it's gone, but I think you can still see some dots around my tummy.

they did change the boards, added Ads in the middle of the forum. Really annoys me. Take it easy Tracy!! That excruciating pain I had to go to the ER about, didn't hit me till 4 days post-op, and the doctor thinks I was doing too much and pulled something. It's been a week and it's finally dulling, but let me tell you it was MISERABLE. It made me cry when I tried to sleep at night, and if I ate it would make me hate eating from the pain. It's no fun. Hell, I went to the ER because I thought it could be serious And I HATE going to doctors unless I have to (You guys will learn that about me I'm sure, I'm stubborn and unless I think I'll die, I don't go!!) Jennifur- Sounds yum.. I Just had some split pea soup blended with water to a baby food consistency. I'm stuffed. I'm really tired today too, maybe because it's such a nice day and it's Friday and my body likes napping around this time hehe.

faith- Yeah for a while we had one (one is across the street from where I work) in town, they called them 'adult novelties'.. sex toys were illegal. Now they've banned adult novelties.. so you can't disguise it. Your best option is to get a 'massager' from wal-mart.. ehhh. I might take you up on that offer when it's time for me to get new ones! The websites say they won't ship to AL anymore. It's really frustrating and I'm not making a drive to another state just for that.

I have a 'follow up' appointment on May 9th. He didn't mention being filled. He said he likes to wait 6 weeks, as early as 4 weeks if I'm really up for it. I'm hoping to convince him to fill me on May 9th, so I don't have to drive back down there a week later. So far he's been very accomodating since I'm an out of towner.. re: giving me steri-strips instead of staples.. he said he normally uses staples to avoid risks of fatty tissue popping open.. he said it would depend on how my fat/skin did when they closed me up. I was glad to see he was able to use the steristrips..I took them off yesterday and started neosporin-ing. I will post pics tonight probably on the scar page. 2 of them, look like bug bites, can hardly tell it was anything.. the bottom left one, i ripped the band aid off and it ripped a chunk of skin off.. gah.. so that burned and has left a bad welt.. then the other 2 small incisions have scabs on them, so they're noticable.. and the port incisions, I put band-aids back over it.. looks so delicate I'm paranoid it will rip open at the slightest move. It's not discolored at all, just looks like someone drew a line on my stomach.

food question! Actually, I have another one I didn't want to post yet, but I will now. First.. I'm southern and I LOOOOOVE grits. To me, they're a great solution. They can be liquidy and go down easy right? But I've seen people mention not being able to eat grits anymore? I had bought a couple boxes pre-op to have during mushies.. and now I'm wondering if I can have it? I hear mixed things, so if people who like grits and tend to eat them on a regular basis (or can't now?) let me know if grits are an iffy item to eat or not! Second.. Crab? My book from IName says common items people have problems on is shrimp. What about crab? I looked through and saw some comments on crab, but nothing definitive. I hate fish, shrimp I could take or leave, but I love crab. And I don't like chicken, but I love beef. Don't like pork.. basically, been trying to see what 'meats' I'll eventually be able to enjoy without much PB risk. I ruled out most steaks, chicken (good riddens), and shrimp. Fish sounds like it's ok, but I don't like fish. I would love to be able to eat crab again. So in experienced bandsters experience.. yay or nay on crab?

I don't know the 'rule', or if there is one. I am large frame.. I know because I'm 6'0 and I can feel my frame (like my hips, shoulder bones). Even if I was at my exact ideal weight, I'm not going to me a little girl! My doctor writes 'large frame' on all my charts too, I never thought to ask him how he decided that. I don't think the wrist thing is true. I have a large frame, but I have long fingers, so I can wrap my fingers around my wrist and touch with no problem.

"adult novelties" are illegal in Alabama.. they recently passed it's illegal to ship them (via ordering online) to Alabama Too obsessed with making sure the man's happy, to hell with the woman!

Chica- I had no regular BM's.. till I guess kind of yesterday. I would have to strain and strain and nothing came out. I finally took prune juice Monday night and had BM's.. then went back to nothing. Yesterday I had my first normal, on my own BM since the surgery. And again today! So I think it just takes time. Rx Pain meds also constipate you..

Congrats Tracy!! Glad to see you made it back safe and sound!! I was the same way, there were 3 other people (I think they must have all had RNY), and everytime nurses made their rounds, I was alert and active and asking to go home LOL. They kept saying I was the ony one this active and they were surprised, because they've never seen someone so ready to go home just hours after surgery! It didn't speed things along though, they told me since about 2am that night "First thing in the morning you will do the swallow and be discharged", so I thought 5am.. 6am? I never went back to sleep, and every nurse that came in I said 'Any chance I can get this over with and go?' By 9am still no swallow, doctor finally came by and said I could leave around lunchtime (seemed like FOREVER at that point). Welcome to bandland!!!!!!! Kat- Ohhh I think there's fudruckers in other places too?? I think I had one in Atlanta.. Where in NM? I was in Albuquerque.. right by the casino on 40.. we would go there every weekend for bingo. I miss it a lot I DO NOT miss Albuquerque though, I hated the crime.. my car kept getting broken into.
