Good to know! They always seemed to be good motivators for me, like I could see on a little strip of paper that what I was doing had some sort of reaction to my body-besides weight loss which stops and starts at will. I have gotten the nasty breath as of a few days ago. I've been brushing my teeth 6x a day and still get the funk breath. -

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I didn't have a BM till 5 days after surgery.. and it was barely anything.. 2 more days passed so I drank about 2 cups of prune juice (never had it before, was skeptical, so drank quite a bit straight from a big bottle I made DF go get me)..within an hour, I was on the toilet on and off for a while. Since then I have kept the juice in fridge 'in case', but my BM's have finally started to become regular. -

Atkins mixes and stuff were TERRRRIBLE. Tasted like cardboard.. everything, and all the same. And they were not cheap. I tried a lot of Atkins brand products in high hopes as new things came out, but they never seemed to evolved (where as, a lot of other companies did). The cheddar crackers weren't atkins brand, just some other low-carb place. I never found normal priced low-carb items. When Russell Stovers came out with the 0 carb candies, I was in heaven. I even wrote them a letter LOL. On Atkins I did a lot of bacon, sausage, eggs, steak, veggies.. and lost weight rapidly. I kept ketosis sticks in the bathroom (bought some from netrition 100 sticks for 7 dollars), and I was always on the dark purple. I thought ketosis measured ketones, which had to do with no carbs. But saw you post it has to do with weight loss, not no carbs? My doctor didn't tell me to specifically do low-carb, I'm going to just eat healthier with the band, make better choices with what I eat, etc.. -

Well, I saw how big they were and how many came with it, but from my past experience a bag of cheddar crackers back in Atkins days for me was 12 bucks. And that was like a mini-bag of potato chips. I had outrageous food bills on Atkins! 4 bucks for 6 servings is not bad to me, relatively. And unfortunately, I'm not a cook! I can't even make pancakes without messing something up lol. -

Thanks! I think I'm going to order one of all except Jalapeno. These are pretty good prices for diet food which normally seems ridiculously jacked up (I remember this from my Atkins days). I remember some sort of cheese crackers when I did Atkins, but I think they were cheddar cheese. They were good for tuna salad. I also had found carb free-low cal taco shells.. They were better than normal taco shells IMO, made with white corn and really crispy. I loved those things..don't remember where I got them now. -

Well the only argument I can think of to that, is that what, 100 years ago or less it was ok for 13 year old girls (or younger) to be married off to adult men. Depends on how history repeats itself. The age of kids having sex is declining rapidly. Just in the past couple of years I know in Alabama, not sure if it's state law or what, 13 years old is age of patient-doctor confidentiality. This was to accomodate pregnant 13 year olds initially, so they didn't have to face the consequences if their parents found out. They are children, but being given adult responsibilities. -
In case anyone ever comes across this that knows of a lap-band support group in the Northern Alabama area, please PM me!! All I've been able to find is gastric bypass, and while it's better than nothing, I'd still rather have a lap-band support.

Teach- I like the Shrinkin' Violets in your signature, very clever!! Good mornin all. I wasn't able to sleep last night. I have off and on insomnia, and I didn't think to ask doctor about if I could take my Unisom, so I haven't. It's been building up, it had been harder and harder to sleep lately.. and tonight I wasn't able to sleep AT ALL. It makes me uncomfortable because I know the body needs sleep to heal, plus I'm going to be miserable at work today. It's been a long time since I went without Unisom on nights like this. I'm going to go into work early so I can get off early and hopefully take a nap. I had some grits this morning! Went without incident. But I'm not restricted anymore and it's really bugging me. My stomach is still growling and hungry :( -
If you don't want to fork out the $$ for a sleep-number bed, due to my dad's problems with acid reflux and his gall bladder removal (he still eats things he's not suppose to), his doctor told him to put 2x4's at the top of his bed under the legs. It lifts it up just a couple of inches and he says it makes a big difference.

Belly rash after a year and a half? Worry?
Daisalana replied to godley_gal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got/have itchy bumps all over my stomach from post-surgery tape I think. I still have the adhesive on my stomach in places, I was rubbing it off with rubbing alcohol but seems to have irritated it more. But since you're so far out, I would guess it would be new soap or fabric, etc. -
I think it looks really cute And very nice for summer, I wish I could cut my hair that short just for the summer then have instantly long hair for the winter.. so I keep a happy medium year round.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Congrats all! You guys are an inspiration!!!! -
Congrats on your loss this far I have been feeling much the same. All I have to do is think about the band and I get a bit giddy. This time is going to be different. When I lose weight, it's not going to bounce back up + some, it's going to go down more. I haven't been under 200lbs since I was pre-teen. I don't know what it's like to be a 'normal' size, and I absolutely can't wait to find out!!!

The link starting this thread, I've checked it out a couple times, but I find it really hard to navigate their site. I've yet to find the crackers you were talking about. Wish they had an easier layout to find stuff! -
Protein Supplements: GNC 54 gm Powder
Daisalana replied to RKidder's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Let me just share my experience with 'powders'. I stocked up with a few different brands, from 'unflavored'(which isn't true!!) to vanillla, chocolate, the matrix brand of cookies&cream and orange cream.. They were all horrible to me. I did try the IDS New Whey protein test tubes, and now I will swear by them. If I had not found them I wouldn't have been able to get the adequate protein I need! So if you end up not liking the shakes, I would strongly recommend the tubes. 1 test tube (3 oz) is 42g of protein.. it's NOT the best taste in the world, but I can drink 1/2 tube in 2 gulps and I chase it with water. So I don't have to make a big to-do about drinking a full shake and worrying about how much protein I was able to get down before giving up on it. On the other hand, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones who finds a shake you love! I know a lot of people like the Matrix brand. -
She talked like they were people who were unconscious from starvation.. I thought maybe it was some kind of injection.. can you inject protein? This would have been about 17-20 years ago.

Congrats Brenners! If it makes you feel any better, gasx and walking didn't help me either! Mine finally went away, but someone mentioned laying on the bed on your stomach with pillows under you with your bum up in the air! She said it worked for her, and I was going to try it but then my pains finally stopped. I could push my 'pain' spots and make them subside/move for a little while. It'll go away eventually -
I think maybe instead of saying you have pride in one instance, there is pride and then there is respect. I know a lot of democrats who don't agree with Bush and of course don't want him in office, but they still respect him and don't defame him like some things that have been done. And I agree about the twisted 'truth' that is publicized. There seems to be a large majority of people who don't realize how easy it is to photoshop or edit footage, etc. and thus believe in lies.

What the hell is that website?? And what were you looking for marjon when you found it? More chicken recipes? I read some posts, that's just crazy.. it DOES remind me of that Dateline thing. It scares me to know people are out there that think like this.. Makes me more and more weary about having kids. Between the shootings, crazy people, internet, and the predators.. -
laurend- because like here, they have a section off --A forum for (non-cat related) mature discussions, issues that may be sensitive and spirited debates. Topics may include subjects such as politics, religion and current events. If you are easily offended, please be advised. ---- And so far, there's been a lot of discussion about republicans vs. democrats, global warming, etc.

Kat- I'd appreciate it! And I would send the disk right back! My thoughts have been with you and your husband, hope it all works out!! Terri- I saw someone post about stitches poking out on another thread, they said they took cuticle clippers and snipped it off. I feel a knotted lump under my port incision, he said he had to stitch it underneath.. but I haven't seen anything poke up! It's all mostly scarred over now, so I guess if it was going to poke out, it would by now.
