    Shrinking Violets Part 4

Great minds think alike Pam ) I found that while I was pregnant (I am not crafty), a website where you send in 16 of your favorite outfits, and they make a 4x4 quilt using a square cut out of the front. I am going to make one of his first year clothes, so far I have the outfit I brought him home in (blue with a giraffe on the chest), the elephant outfit Haydee gave me, and a yellow one that has an elephant and a mouse on it. I think it's a great idea, the website I stumbled across, was after we picked out his name and their 'display' quilt to show you how it works, was someone with a baby named Carson, so most of the squares featured personalized cut up clothes that had C or Carson on it. Heh!

Michelle did you read Animal farm? If so, did you like it? I am going through Carson's clothes once a week packing up stuff he can't wear. It's kind of sad how quick they grow, he has so many clothes he never even worn, or only wore once!!

Did any of you read Life of Pi? Amazon recommended it, and I read the plot, sounded interesting until I read reviews and it was compared to Animal Farm; which I had to read in high school..while I can appreciate satire, it was really didn't hold my attention and I never finished it.

Some other books I recommend (read in the past year that I LOVED).. Snowflower & The Secret Fan (An older Chinese Memoir book... if you liked Memoirs of a Geisha, you'd like it.) Looking back on my old amazon orders, there was one book I gave to my granny, I don't think she'd like it because it was graphic.. but it's a good memoir book. Darn I didn't get it on Amazon, I just remembered I had Russ pick it up for me when I was sick or something (bed ridden). OH well.. if I figure it out, I'll let you know. Title is something about Oscar.. wow that was easy, searched for Oscar in books... ok now I'm rambling. The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao. I wasn't sure about that book, but Amazon recommended it for me and I was bed ridden. Ended up being a really good book.

Funny People really isn't a comedy. It's called a dramedy, but it was really like.. a sad/dramatic story with funny people.. Hard to explain; we definitely laughed a lot, but if I was 'in the mood for a comedy', that wouldn't be the pick. It wasn't carefree. But I did like it!

Suzie, that's the best way to watch Lost. I started it in season 3, so I watched season 1 & 2 over one weekend.. then I had to watch season 3 + live.. so only 1 hour a week, drives you BONKERS!!!!!!! Plus, seeing them all at once, you catch on to the weird clues, like Hurley's news thing being on at Jin's house, etc. Although, that being said and all these hours later.. still makes NO sense. I can't wait for it to be over just so I get closure. Got a migraine, but Russ & I about to go see Funny People. I hope it's good since it's 140m long.. that's pretty long for any kind of movie. I'll let ya know!

I use to read her blog too, I found it funny how she never used punctuation/capitalization.. does she still do that?
  11. Who knows, maybe he'll just decide to come on sometime between now & Sunday :crying: At least you're having contractions, I was hoping to have something happen before induction, but I didn't have a single twinge, ache, nothing.

I thought Kindle was on sale for $299 on Amazon (keep seeing the ad..); just went to check, the big flyer on their website says "$299" Wasn't it originally $500 Judy??? I always thought it was ridiculously priced, and I'm one of those people who don't like things like books & notes on computer. People bring their laptops to classes, or even at work take notes on their computer.. I want it written out on paper.. and I've read 1 book on the computer (Tori Spelling's first book, only because it was sold out EVERYWHERE and I couldn't wait).. and I don't like it. I like holding my pages hehe. Russ always bitching at me to use computer for things because it's quicker, but I still like pen and paper. And I like looking at book art... and I like having books on my shelf that I read... and I work at a PRINTING company and try to discourage digital downloading :crying:

I like most info on Nova Science Now, but I hate the delivery of it. They act like it's a kids' show (REALLY hokey host) and the cartoon animations that are just silly.. but they're talking above my head most of the time, so I don't see how it's suppose to be a kid's show. If they just presented the information normally, I'd like it a lot more, the host really annoys me. And they always cover several topics, and I am only interested in 1 or 2 in the whole hour, so I have to watch long boring segments to get to the good stuff (Russ wants to see it all). But I do learn some interesting things on there. Last night's also showed that seals, learned to associate If A=x and B=x, then A=B... which is really crazy, it said humans don't learn that till they are 4. That means seals have LOGIC.. something we generally think is only for humans. That's interesting Terry.. I HAAATE taste of alkie, that's why I if I drink I do shots to get drunk, I don't like sipping anything. But I love brussell sprouts (which was a big one in their list.. brussell sprouts, brocc, and cauliflower were the big 3). And about vinegar, I love it on my tongue, so it's not just drinking it, I could swish it and it's good.. I have done it. Actually what I normally do, is if I do an oil & vinegar salad dressing, I put 1 part oil to 4 part vinegar.. so its just soaking in vinegar, then I eat it and slurp the vinegar like a soup.. hehe.

Pam- YUUUUUM. I like balsamic the best too. Carson slept from 7:30-5. And he just went right back to sleep after eating despite all the sleep.. yay! We watched Nova Science Now (Russell watches this and sometimes I'm in bed and hear it). They found a GENE that controls whether or not people like veggies.. apparently goes back to caveman times, veggies like broccoli, brussel sprouts, califlower, etc. have some chemical (PTA or something), and in caveman times, bitter meant stay away, poison.. anywho, so if you have a certain gene make up, you actually taste the PTA and veggies are bitter and gross... if you have the opposite gene make up, you do not taste the PTA you just taste the veggie and like it (or don't depending on normal taste buds). The gene makes the proteins on your taste bud not react or react. I thought that was fascinating! So it showed them do a genetic profile of a group of kids, and they wrote the results of who would or would not taste this stuff. Then they gave all the kids this junk and it was right.. so the parents were saying "I'll be more empathetic that suzie doesn't like her broccoli now!". Some kids drinking the stuff made horrid faces (like it was vinegar!), the rest of them just acted like they took a sip of water. It said as you get older your sense of smell changes and so more adults with the gene eat the veggies (this is where I trailed off and fell asleep).

I love vinegar, I could do shots of it all day long, so that wouldn't work for me!

Doc said I could try Gentlease formula now, so I tried that for a week; worked well... Then I read a forum saying Premium is better than Gentlease;doesn't clump and helps their spitting up. So I try that. I should have taken into consideration, I went from Nutramagen to Gentlease due to ALLERGIES.. not for fussy baby (that's what Gentlease seems to be for). So he's been on Premium about 5 days, he stopped sleeping through the night, real fussy and yesterday was HORRRRIBLE. He was shrieking in pain all day long, inconsolable. I noticed the rash on his face is coming back too. My mom watched him for an hour while I was at the allergist, she said he had 2 watery poops (which is what he had before we ever swapped him to Nutramigen), and his stomach gurgled the whole time. So bad mommy, I shouldn't have tried to mess with it, I just heard babies like Premium better; they probably do, but it's not good for milk allergies!! Nutramigen is NO soy or milk, Gentlease is 1/5th milk protein.. I guess Premium is normal milk protein. So yesterday afternoon put him back on Gentlease.. had a great night again (been a week since he's slept well), and today he's a happy baby..rash is already going away. I don't know why I didn't put 2 and 2 together before my mom said something.. when will my mommy instincts kick in?!?!

For that recipe if you wanted to go all the way, they make russell stover's sugar-free toffee bars.. taste (and texture) 100% like heath bars, one of the (few) sugar-free candies I don't mind eating. Those and their coconut bars, tastes just like mounds bars. They aren't low-calorie, but they are sugar-free.

Wendy's toffee coffee is good, but mine melted too quick the one time I had it so the toffee was all at the bottom. I am addicted to Iced Mochas from mcdonalds. I found a recipe to make them at home and I could make them healthier, but I'm too lazy. I had one this morning, I love them so :/ Good news is, I have been hershey bar free since I confessed to ya'll. Today I had to go to Riteaid for meds, and there they were.. king size and all RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I kept glancing at them, but I passed. YAY me. Went to Allergist, they weighed me, I'm back to 256lb.. so that's good at least lol. 7lbs since I ranted about that.

Haydee why didn't I get any pics???? :crying:  Pam, I told him Pammy said no growing!! We listened to "nothing" several times today. I like singing it to him and I think of you every time hehe.
  21. Ejm, some people are 0% effaced 0cm dilated till they just 'go into labor' and then they are 100% 10cm within hours.
  22. Msch- I was 212lb when I got pregnant, was 285lb when I left the hospital with baby, and was 250lb the next week.. Since then, I've been gaining. My fills aren't working anymore, but hopefully they will soon, I keep going back. I wasn't worried, then I was worried, now I am worried, now I hate being fat again. The good news is I have a healthy baby boy..heh!

Carson officially outgrew ALL of his clothes overnight. Today I busted out the bag of clothes you girls gave me. So, he's 3 months old.. this onesie is 6-9m. !!!!!!! I did feel better after reading a website that says you double their age to get the size. All my 3-6m clothes are too small, its tight on his crotch :crying:

You inspired me Terry :skep: Tomorrow I am going to go all day without sugar. I have been thinking about it all week since my last fill. The band isn't helping me right now, but I'm also not helping me. I have NEVER been a fan of chocolate, but since being pregnant I am addicted to Hershey chocolate bars. I swear I have at LEAST 1 a day. It disgusts me, and I don't know why I still crave them all the time. Remember ya'll found a wrapper at the house lol. I always have one on me. I gotta stop this crap. I need the band working on other aspects (binge eating in general) but I need to start making good choices. I have told you guys, I just need to apply it.. you can kick sugar addiction. I just gotta take the first step.. I guess with the band not working, and not being able to move the scale I just say screw it. I'm up to 263, that means I've gained 15lbs since our trip. Definitely not heading in a good direction. I hate my weight right now, I don't feel sexy at all and that drives me nuts. When I was 330lb I felt like a diva, and now since I've had the first taste of my life of feeling average (at 212lb), now I just make myself sick looking at me.

I read Glass Castle earlier this year and passed it on to my Granny. We both loved it! My latest read was Night by Elie Wiesel.. true story of a man going through the holocaust. Was a short book, read it in 2 hours, cried my eyes out. I read My Sister's Keeper before that. Loved that too, it was so long.. when I get sucked into a book I love, I want to read till it's done, but I couldn't because of how long it was.. spent many nights up too late because I just couldn't put it down. Now I want to see the movie, since I hear it has a different ending. Thanks for the recommendation Michelle, I am out of books to read (I only read based off of recommendations, via friends or Amazon these days). That will be my next read!! Judy since you use Kindle, did you see how some book (I forget now, I want to say 1984), decided they didn't want to be on Kindle anymore so Amazon deleted them from everyone's Kindle? It was such a stink because when you buy on Kindle you BOUGHT the book.. that's like them coming in your home and stealing your book. Thought that was interesting!
