Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey guys I need a boost. I haven't lost weight in like a week. The week of surgery I lost the 16lbs, and ever since I've been between 311-314 depending on day/time of day. I've been telling myself "Don't worry about the weight loss", but I can't help but feel discouraged.. My first fill is May 9th, but I'm scared now that I won't lose weight?? I don't know why I have this feeling all of a sudden, just lost my excitement of the band today. -
Why NOT Lapband? There's my excuse! I jest :fish:

:rolleyes LOL BUbbles. Wondered if anyone was going to catch me. I promise I've been sucking on them till they're mushy. They certainly are addicting, with tuna might be good or lil pizza, etc.. but I have to say I've eaten 3 (in the past 4 hours) and fiance ate 2 and that's just plain.. MMMMMMMM.. I can't wait to try the others, but the "everything" is perfect, I love the poppy and sesame textures. -

A big difference Tracy! You look a lot different than your avatar picture too. Cool ticker -
Wheet- Sounds like a trip, I do all my shopping online so I can use discount codes I scrounge up on google, and I don't have to deal with idiots!! About the models for LB, I complained once too. A couple years ago in-store they had some kind of credit card or like 'buy x amount and get one free' that you had to fill up. Anyway, the card showed a ripped stomach (6-pack) on a female, with the top of her jeans and the bottom of her cut off shirt. THAT was the picture on the card. And I said "Who the hell LOOKS like this and shops here??" the lady said something about whoever owned LB uses the same models for their publicity, as their 'normal clothing stores'. I don't know about all that, since there's those plus size celebrity LB models (Steven Tyler's daughter for one). But I was really insulted by that picture on the card. And I never liked the skinny mannequins so you can't see how their clothes will look on a real body. AND if they sent me a tin of cookies, they would have gotten hate mail LOL!

Fiance pointed out last night, the flintstone chewable I have says "Children and adults, take 1 per day", so it says 1 is enough for an adult a day. My doc told me 2, so I'm taking 2 until I talk to him again.

The new link about the penguins is fascinating. To me though, I still want to know the definition of a 'gay' animal. The fact that they were inseperable could be any number of factors. Are they fixed, and no sexual drive? Are they traumatized by something so they don't want a real mate? Are the females 'bad' in the gene pool, and they know that, so they don't want to reproduce with them? Survival of the fittest, in packs/herds it's been shown they know when there's a 'weak link' and they essentially cast it out. What if in this group of penguins, they had a lot of 'weak links'? Could be a fancy set up to try to get Americans to be more accepting of gays. Like I said in the beginning, I am skeptical of researches, I want all the little details about where they came from, why they decided on these penguins. ---Only one of the eight bonded with a female. The rest went back to same-sex relationships, not necessarily with the same partner. Silo and Roy, long-time homosexuals, got together (or pair-bonded, in official penguin lingo) after that failed experiment.-- So only 1/8 penuins are heterosexual?? That makes me think something was wrong with the experiment. :rolleyes

Darla- do you feel adquate restriction? I'm in the band hell where I am not feeling any restriction, I'm hoping when I get it, I'll go back to how I felt after surgery (I was pretty tight the first week, and never got hungry) -
Before the surgery I took.. -Fish Oil -Flaxseed Oil -Viactiv Chewable Calcium -Centrum Multi-Vitamin When I was being discharged, the nurse said 'The doctor wants you to only take Flintstone Vitamins chewable and not take any of the others'. I wanted to know why I couldn't take calcium and flaxseed oil mostly.. she said he didn't say, it was just on the discharge papers. So.. I'm only doing flintstones right now. I am back on my b/c and Prilosec. My heartburn was weird, it's like it never made it to the 'top' part of the stomach, but I could feel it rumbling in the bottom one. (Unrelated to surgery, I have had chronic heartburn most of my life).

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Kity- We actually are in the Tennessee Valley so we're surrounded on all sides by mountains! It's just where we live, the backdrop is some forests, so you can't see the mountains anywhere from where we are (if you looked in the distance you'd see them). Today I'll have the updates pics of the inside and our fancy door (I'm really obsessing about this door LOL..I've never had a 'fancy' door in a house I lived in away from my parents.. it's a sign of maturity to me..or something!) I'm drinking one of those carnation instant breakfasts.. since the girls I work with raved about them I guess I built them up too much. I'm having the rich chocolate milk, and it tastes like chocolate milk with a chalky aftertaste. It's only 1cup per serving so I can handle it. Anyone else watch Lost? It started to suck this season, and it's finally drawing me back in. I use to be such a Lost addict, until they started drawing it out, not answering questions, getting into 'the others' which I didn't care about.. now we're moving back to the island and I'm involved again. -

Protein Supplements: GNC 54 gm Powder

Yup, I learned about splitting the protein from Was, saw her post it in another thread. This website is invaluable, truely. I honestly learned so much more here than I did from the dietician at the hospital. -
Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL Ok, I may be 2nd to be filled. May 9th!!!! Who can't wait? ME!! This bandster hell really is hell. Thought I'd share stuff about my day. We had our frame walk through for our house being built, we show up and they had to reschedule for tomorrow. They let us walk through though by ourselves (first time since they've poured the foundation, so I finally got to see room size- they didn't have any open models of our floor plan when we bought.. gulp) It was WONDERFUL. The rooms were SOOO big, I was afraid from the foundation which looked small, I was going to regret picking it out without walking through a model first. But now that walls are up, It's great. I'm so giddy and excited!!! It's 3 bedroom 2 bath.. eat in dining room, HUGE living room, walk in closets in every room, huge master bath with a 42" garden tub (I planned to be fat ahem.. bought the upgrade so I could finally lay in the tub and relax without having the sides digging into my knees). I guess now that I'm shrinking, I'll just have room for 2 I could go on and on.. here are some pics of progress, I'll have more tomorrow (they installed our doors too, the front door is beautiful, only one in the neighborhood so it must have been a new design..) Beginning of March Pre-Foundation (me and fiance checking it out.. me being nervous!) Beginning of April (putting the frame up) ------ AFTERWARDS.. I was cravin the Ruby Tuesday's crab cakes someone mentioned in the food thread.. so off we went (it's down the road from our new house). I ordered.. broccoli & cheese soup, crab cake, and mashed potatos. I planned for leftovers so I could eat it for dinner & lunch tomorrow. Took 2 bites of the soup, got a to go cup. The crabcake was DELICIOUS. I ate about half of it, and 1 bite of mashed potatos and I felt STUFFED. So even though I have no restriction anymore, I guess that little pouch is still doing the trick. I could have definitely gorged, and I think I still ate more than I want to be able to eat, but I'm happy I couldn't finish the crabcake or eat more taters. Good day today!! (And made a new customer at work.. that's always a bonus!) -
Suntra- I'm glad you knew what I was talking about, it had been a while since I remembered the animals that have sex for pleasure. But that's what I'm saying basically.. trying to put this into words to explain what I'm trying to say. 2 male penguins raise a baby (I thought it was flamingos, workin right now so don't want to open up anymore browsers atm).. What makes this anything more than raising offspring in a clan, or 'friends' if we associate these terms with animals, raising an offspring. Because that means they have emotions, or instincts, to protect the young. Seek companionship (I have followed a lot of studies in animals and companionship), and much like humans. I am 100% straight, but I love my female companions. My best friend, I could have lived the rest of my life in a 'relationship' with her, live with her, grow old together, etc. but it would not involve sex. I don't think that makes me bisexual/gay.. I think that means I have a great friend. Same example, if she or I had a kid, and some reason both our men died in a car wreck and we were alone. I could easily see us moving in together to help the other raise the child. Not because we're gay, but because we're great companions and friends. Does this make sense for what I'm trying to say as to the animals in this article? They have proven animals need companionship (I believe MOST animals-I know some species are solitaire kind of animals). So the article deeming them bisexual, for sexual reasons (which we already agreed, doesn't mean anything), or for companionship reasons (which is another thing of nature, has nothing to do with 'sexual preference'). And to Wheetsin, I think anything's possible in the scheme of things. I would not say I'd never be a lesbian. Like I said, I Have a best friend if she had a penis, we'd be a match made in heaven. But the thought of the woman sex really turns me off. It's not what attracts me. I've tried to be open to the idea, and let love find me in whatever form. It ended up being a man, and I love em So then we can get really deep and say (and this goes with the animal article) what makes you gay? What does gay mean exactly?
-
I just read it, it is an interesting article to say the least. And a clever exhibit, I'd have liked to seen it! It is against 'nature', because 'nature' gives us the drive to reproduce. It's odd to acknowledge it in animals, simply because in humans we have outside factors.. gender roles in society at the basic level. I wouldn't know where to find the information now, but there's very little animals that get 'pleasure' from sex.. so I don't understand the correlation of, they are bisexual vs. they are friendly. Also, in humans, even if not gay, there are people who go 'against' nature. There are people who DO NOT want kids.. and that's against nature's design. But again, how much of that is their genetics and not their surroundings? You can argue our life would be better without kids.. we'd have money for ourselves, we'd be able to go on trips on a whim, etc. So is that a genetic flaw, or is it your surroundings? Just more food for thought while we're on the topic :target: --- Edit to add Sutra, I did say I believe 100% some people are born gay! I'm not saying everyone has had a traumatic incident, everyone *I* know in RL that is gay has had a traumatic incident.

HELP Wedding two weeks after surgery
Daisalana replied to chickatee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah I'm 2 weeks and 2 days out, and I wouldn't put on a girdle. The incisions are still tender and raw feeling to have something up against them. Certain shirts of mine seem to bother it just from the fabric rubbing on it. -

LOL about the head of cabbage. Tracy- I'm the kind of person to point out my flaws before anyone else can. So with my port, during sex I looked down and it was dimpled in all weird from the fat and the incision. So I took a moment to point it out, I said 'eww lookit that' and he laughed and 'kept right on'. So I'm not self-conscious about my port.. he doesn't seem to care, and frankly he's the only one seeing it (except the few people at work I flashed so they could see it LOL). What bothers your dbf about your port?? Where the incision is, they did lots of stitches it feels like under the skin, so its a hard mass, but I couldn't get fiance to touch it.. I was telling him it's weird because it's so hard, and he said he'd take my word for it. -
Woops, hit enter.. Lap-Dancer: The dog humping thing is actually a dominance thing. That's just one way dogs show their ranking, has nothing to do with sex. :target: My female boxer (who has never been around a boy dog), knows how to hump. And she humps my fiance's leg all the time. She's never tried that with me. I'm the alpha, and in her eyes they are playmates. So she is constantly trying to outrank him. She will also do more subtle things, like putting her paw on him to push him down, etc.
-
Sunta- That's why I made sure to put in my experience, I do believe it is just coincidence, but it's an odd one to me. I have to say all the guy friends I had, I did not see it coming. The people you say "Oh they're gay, they just don't know it", never happened for me. I dated some of them (ongoing joke with fiance, he says I turn men gay.. hrm), some of them had the hottest girls in high school (one was with the prom queen), they were all extremely popular, athletic.. and then it was a little disturbing, right out of high school, they all came out, and they took dangerous roles in the gay community. 2 of them became predators.. I don't know if it was 'built up' from all the years of repressing... or what. I know this is getting away from the topic, but when it comes to being gay I really have a lot of mixed feeling. I 100% believe some people are BORN that way. Just like there are people born with both sexes (serious brain fart and don't feel like looking it up), and the parents get to 'pick one', and so what if they pick wrong? I saw a special on that once. Or the people who believe they're born into the wrong gender. There's been plenty of proof that genes play a role in our genders, and the confusion in our gender as well. The Meta-Female, etc. I just know in the scenerios in my life, I think some of it could have been different. I think, if my sister had NOT had such low self-esteem, if she had found a clique, if one of those guys she ever had a crush on gave her the time of day instead of picking on her.. I don't think she would have been gay. I really do not believe she was born that way. I think her being a lesbian has to do with finding a compatible relationship, whether it be a guy or girl. And she lives with her girlfriend and they really love each other. But if it was a guy who treated her as well as her girlfriend does, I think she'd be equally happy.
