I'm all for a man having to sign something before birth saying he is legally responsible if the mother doesn't want it. I thought they did have that? And that's where I feel a man has rights to be involved in it. If the man wants the child, and the mother doesn't, he should be able to sign something saying he will be 100% responsible. Just like I don't think a man should be able to force a woman into having one (I've seen it), the woman shouldn't 'force' a man to give up his child-if that's how he perceives it.

princess- wow... I'd be pissed too.. That's funny but really messed up..and dangerous.

Just a suggestion, hit or miss.. another forum I belong to, the 'adult topics' like this area, is actually locked to all members until the moderator or whoever the 'upper powers that be', unlock them. It's just an e-mail that says, hey I'm over 18 and want to join this thread. If you aren't joined, you don't see the threads. I think it's extremely effective for new people looking for info (the other forum is a forum revolving around particular info).

I think men should have a say in it. It's not their body, but it's their baby/fetus/zygote, whatever you want to label it. I've seen men absolutely devastated by their girlfriend's/wives miscarriages, as early as 3 months.. I've seen men torn apart knowing their girlfriend had an abortion. Maybe not all guys care, and sure there are 'scumbags' out there who don't care, but as a whole I think men have equal say in what happens to their (whatever you want to call it). If you don't want to get pregnant, don't have sex. If you want to have sex and don't want to get pregnant, tie your tubes, snip your man, take a pill, get an IUD, get a diaphram, get a patch, try the 'pull out' method (this isn't extremely effective-and I don't endorse it, but % statistics are better than not 'pull out'). Don't be lackadaisical about it. I'm pro-life if you can't tell. The pro-choicers make excellent arguments, but I'm inclined to believe what I believe.

I think that's a good idea. I like the R&R section, but I think for people looking for information, they shouldn't have to be subjected to the off-topic debates etc.

Crystal Light is pretty good too.. and sugar-free kool aid actually. The fruit punch and grape sugar-free kool aids are quite good. Crystal Light I only like the pink lemonade.

Wohoo good luck Heavy shoes wouldn't work at my doc's office, they make me take my shoes off, and feet on these metal plates, it calculates weight and something else.. I don't know what. I think I asked why I had to be barefoot once, and I must not have listened to her answer (I'm ADD sometimes!!). I think maybe it's fat index? But not sure what it tells from the bottom of my feet.
-
Did you tell the doc's office about your insurance situation? If not, I would try explaining that to them, that's $$ they'll potentially lose and might light a fire under their ass.

There's another thread with a lot of responses on it also I'm dying to lose foot weight, I've been a 9 wide width since I was 10.. and now 11/12 wide

When does the loose skin start to show up?
Daisalana replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's hard for me to tell. I'd like to think I won't get it-haha. My upper arms and lower tummy are flabby from fat, so how would I know if it's skin or fat? It's always been pinchable and wave-able (come on, conjour up some visuals!). -
If I hit 180 in 1 year, I'll be basking in sunny Hawaii. :scales:

Well, the numbness hasn't changed since that shot, so I've ruled that out now. He's a big ol' baby about going to doctors, so if he wants to go to another doctor he can, I give up

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Congrats to all of you getting into clothes you thought would never see the light of day again!! I think my problem is I always wore the wrong size.. at least I hope that's what it is. I've lost 26lbs total (It's 20 according to my doctor's scale), but weighed myself 2 weeks prior to doctor appt., so it started at 333. Anyway, at 307lb, none of my clothes fit any better. I have lost several inches all over, but I always wear jeans that are 'stretch' and 'low-cut', and my shirts shrink in the dryer everytime (me and my cheap taste), so most of them became sleeping shirts because they show my belly.. I was bordering size 26 when I started, I was 24/26 and quickly outgrowing it. Now my 24 are still tight, but maybe they're not 'as tight'.. everytime I wash my clothes, it's a pain to put them back on. Oh well. It took 70lbs of loss for me in the past to go from size 24 to BARELY 18 stretchy. -
Congrats Lisah!!! That's my first mini-goal I have my 'skinny' jeans which are a pair of jeans I bought when I weighed 290, they were really sexy and my size, but the size was WAY off.. Way too small, so I never fit into them, but I couldn't bare throwing them away.. so they're in my closet waiting for me to fit into them. I know how excited you must me, I'd probably run around the neighborhood screaming when I can fit into mine!!

Cheaper than Bariatriceating.com

Well i learned quickly with the parmesian crackers, get the serving out, leave the box in the cabinet. I can easily graze on those all day long and the calorie count isn't the best! So now they're all locked up in the cabinet and I get them out only to eat with salads. BTW tried the garlic with egg salad the other day, was very good! -
I am 4 weeks out this week (I think?), and I'm on solids now.. I had some fresh strawberries the other day from a stand down the road.. MMM. No problems eating them either (except fiance ate them faster and took all the pretty ones)

Where would I get this stuff?
Daisalana replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know it's not what you're talking about, but one of our friends use to make something that reminds me of this for potlucks. She got some kind of ham salad from the grocery store's deli, and she would puree it with green onions. It made a very goopy salad thing, and I imagine you could use it for all the reasons you listed. -

Ohhh guys, I wanted to share a story. Almost made me cry, but was weird to hear it was about ME! It's a 2.5 hour drive each way to my doctor, so going yesterday my mom went with me.. On the ride back, me being fat was bound to come up. At the doctor, she said she's been trying not to notice my weight loss, so she can look at me once a month and 'see' if there's a difference.. since people in my life will see me daily and not really see it. So she did that, said she noticed definition between my chest and stomach and I'm losing a chin. So on the drive back, she talked about how she always wondered if she could have done something to help us all (me and siblings) from being overweight. She said when we were born, I weighed the least, but (and she told me to look at my baby pics) the minute I was born I was a THICK baby. She said compared to my siblings, who weighed more, but were not as thick, I was always the big one. My brother was shipped off to a reform school type place when he was 16, and he lost 100+lbs and he's 6'9, so he became a skinny guy, like a beanpole (has sinced gained it all back plus), and my sister was skinny till adolescents. So she said I was the only one, that was BIG my entire life. She said she didn't see it really, she said you don't see your kids as being fat or anything..but she said we use to putt-putt all the time (I do remember this), and she said I would always whine about having to lean over to pick the ball out of the hole. So she said when I was about 8, we were putt-putting, and I complained about getting the ball, and she started yelling at me to quit whining.. and by the 10th hole, I was crying and making a scene.. so she pulled me aside to spank me probably, but she said I yelled out to her 'MOM I'M FAT! I CAN'T GET THE BALL!'.. and she said that's when it hit her, and she said it's something that haunts her to this day, that she didn't realize I was so fat and had problems bending over, yadda yadda. I've never heard this story before, yesterday is first time she told me. It's a sad story, and sad that it's about me! But we discussed things I can't wait to do when I lose weight.. one being crossing my legs (that's a big one for me).. but she said "I can't wait till you can go putt-putting and get the ball out of the hole.". Sniffs. -
What's versed? the paralytic? (I made up a word? LOL) I got a shot that made me loopy as I was being reeled somewhere, then I guess I fell asleep as they put the mask on me, I remember him yelling at me to do something but I didn't.. And would I know if I had versed? Also, when I did Atkins and lost 70lbs within a few months, my hair fell out like CRAZY. It had nothing to do with a surgery, but I do think I was likely malnutritioned because I didn't know anything about Vitamins. I doubt it was Protein since that's all I ate. But I use to have hair that 1 ponytail holder could barely go around once..and now its about the width of a silver dollar if I hold it all together. When it was falling out I would cry in the shower because I didn't know how to stop it. I just dealt with it, till I started seeing a bald patch and stopped Atkins.. and gained back 110lbs.. ho hum. If you come up with any good info on how to prevent hair loss, do pass it along. Like you, I keep looking at all the info I can get on it, because I know I'm prone to lose hair during weight loss!

Not much to expect on your first consultation That's what they're doing, is telling you what to expect.. and depending on your doctor, get your medical history and go over your insurance information. Good luck!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Wow Judy! You can tell such a difference in your side picture and that one! Like the violet hair, nice touch I took my diet pill last night (first one) around 6pm.. It says not to take it later in the day because you won't be able to sleep, but I have insomnia anyway and I really wanted to see how it affected me before taking it at work today.. It was wonderful, actually.. mostly. When it kicked in, I was really disgusted by food. I had some left overs on the counter I planned to nibble on last night, and I went in to either get some or put it in the fridge, but when I was handling it, I was just.. hard to explain but I wanted to vomit just looking at it. So I decided to throw it all away...which was silly, I could have eaten it another time, but throwing it away was the only thing that settled my stomach. Then around 11pm when I was laying in bed, I started to get a severe headache. It ended up lasting all night, I woke up every hour or so to go to the bathroom or walk around and my head was throbbing. So was a weird night last night, but I love how it made me literally despise food! No worries about grazing and snacking when you don't like food LOL. So I just took another one this morning on the way to work.. Woot. I'm thinking, if my doctor won't prescribe these to me anymore, I might just get a local clinic to give me an Rx. Me likey. I'm going to wait till after my fill though (which is what this is intended for), to see if I feel fine just being restricted instead. And today's a good day, I'm still reeling about being 307lb. :scales: -
That is weird!!! I would be upset I was trying to get my doc to give me my first fill today (a week early- because he is going to be out of town until June), but he felt my stomach and said the knots I have are swelling and is going to wait the full 6 weeks.. so June 6th..but I told him as of last week I'm already more hungry, I am still losing, but I'm dying to get the restriction back I had after surgery, it was so wonderful.. He gave me a diet pill to hold me over till June 6th, but if he says he won't fill me due to the weight I've lost, I'll raise hell!!

Woohoo Terri! I'm still too self-conscious to work out 'in public' we have a great gym at work and everyone there uses it except me of course..some of the guys have offered to 'train' me, but I think when I finally get the balls to go in there, I'd rather go when no one else is there.. (It's 24 hours). I hope to be in there once I hit 270lb. I'm praying back problems will be greatly reduced by then. I do the gazelle right now in front of the tv, which is low-impact but its SOMETHING.. and I was doing it at 2am the other night, and the next day (yesterday) and today my butt and thighs are aching like crazy.. when I sit on the toilet, it kills me LOL. I guess I worked it well that night. -

Hey guys! No fill He said he likes to wait a couple more weeks but will check it out.. he was feeling my stomach and that knot I can feel from the outside (I assumed stitches/scar tissue) he said is.. edema? Which meant I was still swollen so he said it would be really hard to find the port poking through all that (not doing fluro)...so he said he wants to wait 3 more weeks :( So my first fill is scheduled for june 6.. the good news is, I whined about how hungry I get now, so he gave me a 3 week Rx of Phene---something.. its at pharmacy now being filled so don't remember the full name.. to suppress hunger. But he told me all stern, he is NOT going to be giving me diet pills, so don't ask for them again (I didn't ask in the first place!), but since I said I worry about being hungry now, he'll give them to me just for now until I get my fill. I'm ok with that Ready for the good news?!?!?!?! His scale.. which is what I started on for my pre-op weight.. says I'm at 307!!!!!!!!! WITH CLOTHES ON!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO So not only was I finally down to 310 from the 311-314 bounce, but then 309 on my scale this morning.. and now 307!!!! I'm exxxxcited. -
