Whole chicken/turkey and dark meat are A-OK! I love turkey legs.. and chicken legs are good. And yea, I think nuked chicken is better than cooked in the pan hehe. -

If you have recipes that meet this criteria, either share them here or PM me AREN'T YOU GLAD I WASN'T YOUR DAUGHTER?? -No Pork (Bacon/ham is ok) -No White meat chicken unless shredded (or recipe can be altered to shred it) -No seafood -Minimal olive oil, so olive oil can't be a main ingredient -No peaches, prunes, dates, or mangoes. -No fancy schmancy spices like rosemary, thyme, etc. -No carrots or celery in the food (Can be sides of carrots.. like copper pennies!) -No overly spicey stuff I think that'll do it for now. Thanks violets <3 -

And here comes 'Laura is too damn picky' post.. I don't like white meat chicken. So, I don't like grilled, marinated, etc. All yuck!! But! I have found a compromise for myself. I found a chicken casserole recipe, and you shred the chicken. Now, diced chicken= YUCK.. but some reason (I don't know why, but who cares why), shredded chicken is good!! So, I found the other recipe for normally diced chicken and stuff in crescent rolls.. didn't like it.. tried it with SHREDDED chicken.. YUM! (That's my lunch today). Eating it as I type.. kind of.. it's cooling off. So, lets hear your chicken recipes that I can use shredded chicken! I gave my george forman to my sister.. I like my steaks in the oven and like I said.. grilled chicken is just about the worst chicken IMO. BLECH!!! Why did God give me such fickle taste buds? You'd think I'd be skinny.. but I guess what I like to eat, I LIKE to eat. I use olive oil in cooking, but I really really do not like the taste of it, so I use the most minimal amount I can get away with. I like vinagerette dressings, but I use like a small dash of oil and then 3 tbsps of vinegar. My 2 whole chicken recipes I like (hehe): Chicken Casserole.. 3 boneless skinless breasts, cooked.. I nuke them in the microwave, and then shred them up with a fork. The whole recipe calls for 8oz of sour cream.. I use 4oz. Mix chicken with the sour cream, salt & pepper to taste, 1 can of cream of celery (or mushroom or whatever cream of Soup you like), and fill that can 1/2 way with (skim) milk and mix in also. In a bowl melt about 2tbsp butter (I use the low calorie stuff), and then crush ritz into it. Pour the chicken mixture into casserole dish, cover with buttery ritz crumbs. Cook for about 15-30 minutes, till its bubbling and browned on top. Other one.. I used 2 large boneless skinless breasts (for 2 people this made 4 'pockets' and we both ate 1 each last night...and had chicken mix leftover). Instead of nuking in the microwave, I cut it into strips and cooked in 1/2 olive oil 1/2 butter combo, with 1 tbsp minced garlic.. cook till done, then I shredded the chicken and put it back into the pot. Mixed a couple tablespoons of whipping cream into the pot, with about 1.5 cups of cubed colby jack cheese. I cooked till the cream was well blended with the oil and the cheese cubes *started* to melt. Then roll out pilsbury crescent rolls.. mash 2 together to make a rectangle.. then put the chicken mix in the middle, pull all 4 corners up and twist, then seal the edges. Cook for about 10 minutes. They are approx. 300 calories each, so I served it with rice, and I only had about 3 bites worth of rice on my plate. -
My DH (DF at the time), who is average size.. when I brought this up to him, he said whatever you want to do. So I wanted to talk to him, make sure he understood what I'd be going through etc. He made 1 comment that annoyed me, but he got it out of his system, and we agreed to disagree on it. He said "If this is what you want, BUT.. I think you can do it on your own". And then I explained how I can't, and he didn't really agree. But that's that. Will your husband agree to disagree? My DH let me make the decision and supported me, he just had to throw in his 2 cents that he didn't think it was neccessary.

I eat right at 50% of what I ate pre-band. While that's a good thing, I still need to be lower! My goal is 30% or less.. but I need to get a good fill.

Terri- Chinese food is a food that gets stuck 100% of the time for me! The asian chicken does it some reason. So I've been eating it a LOT less than before. Since I'm on OOMTOM, I'm not weighing myself right now, I KNOW it will set me up for failure!!!! I had a milk for b'fast, and having leftover chicken stuff I made last night (300calorie per serving) for lunch. Trying to find a good chicken recipe for dinner tonight. I can't find anything that fits both 1. easy to make 2. something I'd like. DH is allergic to seafood, otherwise I'd probably make shrimp and crab stuff a lot!! I could eat boiled shrimp for dinner every night! He's also allergic to nuts, and some reason all these websites recommend asian chicken stuff with peanut sauces.. which sounds disgusting to me regardless of whether or not he's allergic. I have 2 good chicken recipes, I want more like it! One is a chicken casserole, the other is chicken and cheese in crescent rolls. -
Yeah, rogaine is bad news IMO. When I first started losing my hair *During Atkins*, I bought it.. and it's a pain in the a** to put in.. and like faith said, you have to use it for LIFE. If you stop using it, hair goes away. And, it was just a pain that I wouldn't do it everyday, which is pointless. So Rogaine isn't my answer. Alaverde- Where in Alabama? I'm in Huntsville.. My stylist does white people extensions, and she said she could do mine to make my hair all thick again. I'm debating it, she doesn't use the standard techniques that tear up your current hair.. but its $900 and lasts a year. That's not too bad for 1 year, but coming up with $900 at one time has proven difficult. I've been telling DH I want to have it done, and he said if it'd make me happy, so now I'm working on having a little savings pool. Especially since my hair has started falling out all over again.

I agree, dumping sounds like a good reinforcer. And I do find junk food never feels restricted. I could probably eat a whole cake and never feel 'stuffed' lol. I just try not to be in those positions. Only junk food I keep in my house is 100 calorie packs, so it's portioned for me already. At my family's Sunday cookouts, they always have desserts, chips, etc. I pick the better things.. the shrimp, and bring my own salad.. but if I decide to snack on chips, or have a small piece of a pie.. It never feels like my stomach is filling up, like when I'm eating my good foods (shrimp, salad, etc.) So I can definitely see how someone who gets the band and doesn't want to make the right choices could not get very far. If I kept it in the house, I'm sure I would be eating a lot of junk food and not losing a pound!!

Only a few days out, I couldn't have mashed potatos (no matter how runny) or oatmeal.. those were about 3 weeks post-op, so that's definitely different to me! And you seem to be able to take in more than I could.. I had 2x protein shakes (resented it the whole time!) and sips of broth or soup liquid from normal soups throughout the day. I maybe had 1cup of soup total for the entire day.
-
Not to burst your bubble.... Bandster hell is right around the corner! I am still waiting to get back to feeling like I did the first 3 weeks after surgery.
-
I never really got gas pains from lap-band. No input on the c-section, but I did have horrible pains from my incisions (more than I expected). Post-op, I pulled a muscle from sitting funny and not taking my pain meds.

I think it all depends on each person. I smoke, have for 9 years.. didn't quit for surgery.. 10 mintues before surgery they checked the oxygen in my blood, since I was a smoker.. he said it was 100%!! He said that was unusual for smokers.. On the other hand, my sister who is now 18, and has smoked about 3 years.. she had her oxygen levels checked not too long ago (for a doctor visit) and hers was 97%. I seemed to have increased how much I smoke since surgery, I guess to fill the food void. I told my doctor up front I wasn't prepared to give up food and smoking at once. I do plan to quit someday, when I decide to have kids.. The only scare I had, a week post-op, I had a really bad pain and thought it could be a blood clot.. when I went to the ER I got a nice lecture about how I have a death wish --- B/C, Smoking, and just had surgery. He told me I WOULD have a blood clot if I don't stop taking b/c or smoking. FOOEY ON HIM. I'm stubborn I guess.

I've noticed this more lately too.. Initially I tried drinking milk instead of water to wash it out, but it made it worse. Then I went to tongue scraping, that seems to make it better for me. Tongue scrapers are like a dollar at Wal-Mart.
-
I lost the most amount at once the month after surgery.. then bandster hell and I didn't move.. 1st fill, didn't do anything for me, and that month I lost 0lbs (BUT I didn't gain either, so that was nice). 2nd fill, a little restrictions, I lost 8lbs that month. 3rd fill, I am less restricted than 2nd fill and so far I've lost 6lbs this month. I'm not to my proper restriction, and I just have to keep chugging along till I get there. Everyone is different, there's no telling how your 1st fill will effect you.. but if you end up like me, just be patient!

Terri- Sounds like your ex is like my DH when he drinks. I just really don't understand how that happens. I rarely drink, and even rarer- get drunk. But when I have been drunk, I'm just loopy and goofy and I love everyone and everything is great! My DH, I can count on one hand the times he's gotten drunk since we met 7-ish years ago.. And in the beginning, we broke up twice, both times because he got drunk. He' so mean and verbally abusive. He's never ever hit me, and I don't think he ever would, but since it's not his personality to treat me like sh*t, when he's drunk and does it, I just don't get it!!! Like at this concert when he was drunk, I was trying to figure out what was happening to his brain.. what did the alcohol do??? Unlock a dark side of his brain or what?! If he did it every weekend at our family get togethers, I would be MORTIFIED. I don't know how you put up with it Like I said earlier this week, my DH is not allowed to get drunk in front of me ever again. I tried it at a time when he had nothing to be mad or upset about, and he turned it into a big drama. He does have beer once in a while, when we go bowling or hockey games.. but he doesn't get drunk, and drinking a couple beers doesn't make him turn into mr. crazy-ass. I'm going to Tunica again this weekend.. with my parents & granny.. DH is staying behind again. I kind of like going to casinos without DH.. when I win and he loses, I have to fork over all my winnings to him and he still just mopes around the place saying how unlucky he is! But this last time I went by myself, I took $300 and came home with $800 and had a great time.. my parents win or lose, are always happy.. which is like me, if I lose all my money I'm still in a great mood just being on vacation and watching others play (family). I'm playing in a couple WSOP circuit events this weekend, so won't be a lot of slot machines this time. Doing a Ladies Only event.. should be fun, I've never done a ladies only.. I've always been the only woman at my tables! And men are jerks in poker toward women.. they don't want me there, and they don't care if I know it (think it has to do with the fact I look 16 too)! Which makes it all the merrier when I knock them out I finished on 1 final table so far, it was 2000 people and I was 2nd in chips by the final table, and I went all-in against the chip leader.. was stupid move on my part. I didn't have anything that great, but I think I was tired and irritated this same guy kept bullying me around.. he had pocket A's, and I finished in 5th place.. was a few grande in cash! So wish me luck this weekend, I want to win some more grandes! Pay off all our new furniture lol. Yesterday was family cookout day, and yes, it's so nice when I think I grazed and overdid it, I just finished myplate adding it up, and I had 1400 calories. Wooohooo. DH didn't go to sleep last night, he's been up playing video games all night.. gonna see if I can go convince him to go to bed now! -
What's the last thing you said to your surgeon just before your LB procedure?!
Daisalana replied to UN5-3051's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon wasn't there when I was going under, but I was with the anesthesiologist for a while.. and I was soooo scared about the cathedar, that was the only thing I was worrying about. So a couple nurses came up who introduced themselves and I said "So who is putting in the cathedar??".. and they laughed and said "Lap-Band patients don't get the cathedar". HALLELUJAH! I just kept telling them over and over how they just made my entire day because that was the only concern I had with this surgery. And then they knocked me out.. probably tired of hearing me say it over and over -

LOL Terri! I was the opposite growing up.. I was always always overweight, mom said since I was born. I never really thought about it. I hated that I always had to wear mens clothes when I was in elementary school, but it also had to do with my height (I was TALL from the get go). And I later found out, guys like tall women! I never obsessed with my weight till I graduated high school. In HS I had HOT b/f's and I was with a model for a while too, he went on to be an actor for MGM lol (I still haven't seen him anything, but he's proud). I guess my self-esteem covered up the fact I was fat.. that's what my friends told me when I finished high school and began saying things like 'wow I'm fat.' heh. I had a lot of friends, I was always in the 'in' circles.. when HS was over, everything changes. New places, nervousness of being away from home for the first time (I graduated early and went to college dorm life right after turning 17.. then Sept. 11 happened and it was the straw that broke the camel's back). But anyway, I kind of slowly realized just how big I really was. Then I dieted 'for real', wishing I could be anorexic for a year and get it over with.. of course, that didn't happen! I actually knew people in HS who did that.. one friend lost a lot of weight, she lived on 1 reese cup a day.. another friend who lost a lot of weight by not eating anymore for about 8 months. I thought I was just a failure for not having the self-control. Then I did Atkins, did great.. but couldn't stick to it forever, I think 6 months and 50-70lbs down (I didn't keep records and I forget the very lowest I got), I caved in and had a donut.. and then bread..and then a potato and it all went down hill.. and I gained it back plus at least 30lbs more. I went on Atkins when I hit 300lbs for the first time, I should add I did gain weight out of high school too. I think I was about 270lbs when I graduated. My back problems started, became crippled for a while, finally found back shots that were temporary.. blah blah blah.. Now here I am. BTW my UPPER back is killing me this morning. In the past years I become more and more conscious of my weight. I'm finally seeing it (but only when naked).. when I'm dressed, I still think I look damn sexy!! -
Style Texturize! Ultimate Texture Hairspray | Pantene Pro-V | Beauty & Spa | Walgreens That's the product BTW.. and while looking for this, I notice they also have a "Full & Thick" one too.. I might have to try that also. Style Full & Thick Extra Fullness Hairspray | Pantene Pro-V | Beauty & Spa | Walgreens

Just wanted to pipe in.. Today after my shower, I'm finally noticing hair loss.. substantial anyway.. I kept running my hands through my hair and ended up with a hairball that would put my 3 long-haired cats to shame. My hair had thinned some from when I did Atkins a few years ago, so I've kind of learned how to spice up my hair as not to draw attention to the new found thinness.. So when I went out today, I used this hairspray I bought a while back and never used.. My hair is naturally straight as a board, so that makes matters worse.. It's Pantene Pro-V hairspray for 'texture'. It was amazing.. It said spray while crinkling and running hand through hair.. after 2 minutes (and head upside down), I looked like I had a LION'S MANE. So, if you want something to help cover it up while you wait for it to come back, I would suggest trying this product.. I know I'm going to stock up on it!!
-
The rest of your post sounds like a nightmare, and I'm just glad you're finally OUT OF THERE!!! But for the beginning.. I remember posting the first couple weeks, how my DH and mom were always saying things about how I ate.. they were apologetiz about eating food, always making comments to me, asking me if I was doing everything right everytime I sat down to eat, etc.. It drove me nuts.. BUT THE GOOD NEWS.. they finally stopped!!! And lucky for me (or maybe not, time will tell), my DH forgot most the rules, so he no longer tries to correct me if I do something I'm not suppose to.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Just got back from the grocery store.. well a few hours ago.. I've been in mad-cleaning mode. It's weird.. I clean on weekends, but normally light cleaning. I just swept, mopped, vacuumed, hung up curtains I've been meaning to get around to, cleaned the microwave and oven, hung up a wall decor for the foyer I've been meaning to do, dishes, laundry, more laundry, more dishes, picking up, straightening up shelves, windexed every surface I could find.. yeesh. My back is actually hurting Did a lot of time on the hard floors in the kitchen and laundry room. So at the grocery store, Terri I needed your phone number LOL! I posted in the foods and got no good responses before I left, and only one afterward.. suggestion of shakes, and frankly I'm tired of hearing 'if you get such and such it's just like a such and such that's good'.. doesn't work for me, I've resigned to the fact I do not like ANY protein shakes.. and I'm ok with that. I know it's with good intentions, but I've spent way too much money trying to make shakes people say are delicious, only to find out it makes me want to vomit. I do my protein test tubes of 42g every day, gulp, chase with water, an' I'm good! Soooo I needed some good b'fast ideas.. things I can make and bring to work..that will keep me from being munchy-fied all day long. Only thing I remember hearing was cottage cheese with fruit.. I can't see me doin that every day, as I don't particularly like cottage cheese outside of my granny's lasagna. But, I got ff cottage cheese.. and frozen fruit: Cherries, pineapple, blueberries, and strawberries. I'm going to try it. But besides that, what else is a good appetite curber that I can take to work????? Those 100 calorie pack people have my number DOWN! I went to wal-mart, and they keep coming out with new things.. and I must say, I love them all. Last time I went, I got those pepperidge farm Chessman cookies, and chocolate chunk cookies. YUM! This time, they have reese peanut butter things.. reese pieces, peanut butter cookie things, and cereal squares in it. Shorties are still my favorite. I also picked up the 100 calorie chip packs. It's easier to rant about the junk food I got, because I'm so amazed with my 100 calorie packs..they seem to always be a different texture than the 'original' and I actually prefer the 100 calorie ones. But I do get healthy stuff too! The 100 calorie packs are my after dinner snacks/desserts. (and like last night, my 'binges'!!) I've also been trying to find good high protein, low calorie recipes on the web.. I hate hate hate fish.. so this is really hard for me, every website is trying to shove that nasty fish junk down my throat. The only fish I like is catfish and it has to be very fresh with no fishy taste. And on that note, I went to cracker barrel with DH tonight, I got the catfish and it comes with THREE sides AND biscuits. I notice more and more, I'm obsessed with how much food places serve.. and the big bites people take!! So I got fried okra, green beans, and dumplings. DH got chicken dumpling dinner, with extra dumplings, okra, and mac&cheese. Sooo much food. I ate about 4 bites of my catfish, all my green beans, 2 pieces of okra, and 1 dumpling and the rest I got 'to-go'.. its a whole meal in that box (or 3!!). DH plate(s) were so full, I couldn't believe he was going to eat it all.. but by golly, he did. I even said, I couldn't believe he could eat that much!! And I watch people around us, how big their bites are, and they shovel it in.I remember those days.. unconscious of how I was eating.. meeeemories I'm wired up right now, got to find something else to do!! -
Since I went to the grocery store, wanted to find the brand of those nasty things you need to avoid like the plague.. they're Hormel brand!
-
I'm trying to find some high-Protein, low-calorie Breakfast options, that are good 'on the go'.. so far, my list is only cottage cheese with frozen fruit. Anyone have any good ideas? If I can put it into a tubberware container and take to work, it's good! Excluding any Protein shakes or bars.. I'm not lovin' those. Also, if you know of any good breakfast not neccesarily high in protein (but still low in calorie), but keeps you full longer, etc.

Pre-band weight loss history
Daisalana replied to TrimKim's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 70lbs on Atkins, and gained it all back +30lbs!
