Those of you that drink alcohol

My dad is addicted to rum punch since he had it in Atlantis.. He makes it with grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut rum, and normal rum. -
Those of you that drink alcohol
Daisalana replied to PrincessChey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I"m not a big drinker, I only drink a handful of times a year. And on those times, I drink to get drunk.. not to be social. I was probably medium with how much it took to get drunk.. 3-4 good drinks did it.. Somehow I got pulled into goin to a bar with co-workers about 3 weeks post-op. 1 drink did it for me. I was loopy and giggly.. and I had 2 more drinks for kicks! Then 2 weekends ago at the casino, I had a shot of 'something cookie'.. was gold schlager(sp) with cinnamon something.. anyway, that got me loopy too. So I'm a lightweight now. I don't drink carbonation, but beer tastes like piss to me anyway.. so no beer here! -

Looks like there's interest If you want to do the gift exchange, PM or e-mail me glisteningrelic(at)gmail.com with your name & address (Optional phone, to do an info swap so we all have each other's contact) I'll start compiling the list, and when we draw closer I'll spread out the secret santa names :car: Today at the cook out--my first test! You guys, I'm so anxious for even a month to go by now! This is what the band must SUPPOSE to be for!! I had 1 cube of a chicken piece, chewed little bits off of it.. stuck...bounced around a little. Put on my plate, small servings (what I normally eat now), but was only able to eat maybe 1/2 tbsp of mooshed up broccoli and 2 shrimp. I feel full, extremely full. I love it. Birthday cake, someone's b'day. I took a tiny sliver, since I knew my stomach was tight and everything. One teeny tiny bite.. STUCK! And I no longer wanted cake. I'm loving this. Not only can I not eat a whole lot, but I don't WANT to eat a whole lot. Laura found her new groove, look out world!!! I hope at 260 I look like I did last time I was 260, I have to say it looks pretty hot compared to me now..and at that time, I didn't realize how sexy my figure was!!! 24lbs isn't a whole lot, fingers crossed! -

Ohh about the gift exchange. Here's a brief run down. If you're interested, turn in your name & addy. Dec. 1 you'll be assigned someone's name. We set a $$ limit, and it's secret-santa style (until you send it, then of course reveal who you are!). So everyone would buy someone else something, as their secret santa. If you guys do want to do this, let me know! I'll get it organized :car: -

I just had to share this nostalgia. I was browsin pics on my computer.. Found these. This is when I did Atkins, and got to my 'smallest weight ever' which I believe was 260lb. I'm 24lbs from that now, I can't see my body looking like that again, oddly enough. But looking at these pics, WOW! I forgot I ever had a body like that lol. It only lasted like 2 months, I gained it all back and then some. I'm daydreaming that I'll look like this again. I was a solid size 18 at the time. And my hair was long and thick. Now it's long and THIN. Waaaaah. -
What if what made us fat keeps us fat?

They don't take the cravings away 100% for me, but they definately lessen them. And I would binge on more than just sweets.. I would get 3-5 meals from whatever fast food place. That's definitely a thing of the past. I rarely eat fast food now, but if I do, I can only get a bite or two before I feel icky. And I keep 100 calorie packs in my house for my sweet tooth, which is a serious dent compared to what I use to do. 1 calorie pack does the trick for me also.. I get the shorties shortbread cookies. Seems like an aweful lot now in that little 100 calorie pack! -
I could eat a full one for the first 2 months post-op (and post post-op diet). The past month though, I can't eat crusts very well, but the rest of it is fine.

Morning violets! Pain still killin me if I move the trunk of my body. I was able to take the bandages off today, so now I see I have a port scar right between my boobs :car: None of my scars healed well before, but it didn't matter to me.. I think a dark purple scar between my boobs will bother me.. I show a lot of cleavage!! And now I'm wondering how long till I can comfortable wear a bra???? The nurse thought I just had RNY and said I can't go back to work till Oct. 24.. but I plan on going back to work tomorrow, figure with pain meds I can sit at a desk fine.. Here's the pic of when I got all the injections with no fill to show for it- And here I am today with 2 new port cuts- -

Nothing like surgery to make you not hungry!! I'm so excited about this restriction, please don't ever go away!!!!! I had 2 tiny pinches off the top of my husband's pizza.. was less than a tablespoon of food total... And I felt that over-stuffed ookie feeling. Amazing. But still able to guzzle my water, so could this really be my sweet spot? Hehehe! Drank my protein tubes, took vitamins and calcium today. Who needs food?! -
The NO MOTRIN thing...what to do?????
Daisalana replied to jteastside's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use to take 4 advil at a time for the same reason (Sciatic nerve, and bulging disks due to inflamed muscles).. Now, instead of constantly popping them.. tylenol doesn't work for my pains.. I only take them when I can't bear it anymore. And I only take 2, make sure I'm on an empty stomach, and down a LOT of water with it. I can't give up NSAIDS completely, but I limit them now. -
Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
Daisalana replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Glad this thread was bumped This is on my top 10 list of why I wanted surgery. I've never in my life been able to cross my legs feminine-ly. I was 26/28 starting this journay, I'm now 20/22 and I can now cross my left over my right (but not vise versa), and it all depends on the chair I'm in, not every chair I can do it. I can NOT wait till I can cross them without thinking about it!! -
I don't like splenda in my tea either. I love sweet tea, but I find unsweet tea with Sweet-N-Low is just as satisfying for me. Have you tried that?

Step away from the fried chicken Tracy!!!!!!! Judy- 90% of my PB's are uneventful, a sudden stuck moment then it passes. But I've had the horrendously painful ones, and drinking always seems like the answer.. and for me it always makes it worse! -
Sounds like whoever you talked to was confused.. Typically they won't do a lap-band if your BMI isn't AT LEAST 35.. and for that you need 2 comorbidites unless your BMI is 40+. (This is for insurance purposes, and whether or not the doctor feels the same way). But under 35 seems like she said it wrong.. I'd go to the consult to clarify

I wish we could get together sometime  One more note I thought was weird.. when I did my original surgery April 16.. was the day of the virginia tech shootings.. so thats all that was on the news all day. For my surgery yesterday, it was the delaware university shooting!! They don't seem to be in the same context, but its like.. Surgery for me=school shooting! -
My diet seriously lacks fiber now.. in my biology lab class, we're covering foods enzymes and blah blah, and had to make a chart of 25 foods we eat regularly in a week, then make observations on their fat, protein, and fiber content. Of 25 foods I eat regularly.. fat was low, protein was high, and NO FIBER. I didn't realize how fiber-lacking I was. It explains a lot  I have benefiber, and going to have to start putting it in food myself. It's good in water IMO, no taste, dissolves into nothing.

Morning guys!! I wish this wasn't so painful, I feel kind of panicy about it. I didn't expect to be hurting this bad. If I do anything that moves the trunk of my body, it feels like someone is ripping my muscles open over and over inside. I sleep on my side, but last night everytime I moved an inch to get off of my back, it shot pains all over..so had to sleep solid on my back. Getting up, walking, etc.. all bad!!! Sitting is about all I can do right now lol. The good news is, the port wasn't defective. It actually disconnected from wherevr they put it, and it completely flipped around! So when they tried filling it, they were injected into the back of the port, which you apparently can access through 1 chamber, but it doesn't go into your band. When they realized the port was flipped, they saw the 1cc they put during the first surgery still there, so no leaking. Yay! So they flipped it over, and moved it up about 5 inches (I have bandages so can't tell and it all hurts, but one bandage is right between my boobs!!!) They made 2 incisions, one in the original port scar, and a new one up from that. Mom said he told them he moved it below my left breast bone? He also told them, when I lose weight it will be very visible so I'll likely want to have it removed when I get to goal, and he can tie off the tube. I said no way. I"m not making it non-manipulative when I get to goal, who knows if I'll need it adjusted more at some point. I wasn't there for this conversation, so this was them paraphrasing it. I was waking up all night from the pain, took another demerol at 6am and just woke up again. It says 1 every 6 hours, so trying to stick to that at least. I don't like takin pain meds, but this stuff barely takes the edge off, so I"m taking it like a good girl!! I remember what happened last time I didn't take them, ended up hurtin myself more! Mom said in retrospect she wishes she told me no to the band surgery for at least another year, when more 'kinks' are worked out. My doctor told them due to my port moving, he's no longer going to be putting ports there, he's going to put them all wherever my new location is. But, a year from now I'm going to be so grateful I didn't have to wait another year  No one told me my post-op info, the nurse kept thinking I just had RNY done, and I was getting frustrated with her. She said, your next appt. is oct 24, so don't go back to work till you see the doctor then. Yea right. Then she said "And you're suppose to do liquid diet for a while right?" and I said.. uh no.. they didn't mess with my band, I shouldn't! But he DID fill it while I was under! YAY! 1.5cc. They made me eat crackers before leaving.. I haven't been hungry yet, DH got chinese last night, so I had him get me crab rangoons so I could eat the middle out of them. Literally.. 1 bite and I felt stuck and ooky for an hour. Surprisingly, this really makes me happy. Maybe now I have restriction! But, I can get liquids down fine, been drinking a lot of water and apple juice and my protein bullets, no problem. OK done talking, all in all I am anxious and happy to see where this goes, and I'm going to tough out this pain! -

Almost 5 months post-op, same weight & UPSET!
Daisalana replied to stella4star's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Could you find another doctor in your area that will do fills? If your band holds 7cc, you have a lot of room to work with to get more restriction, so don't be too down just yet! I would have a hard time going back to a doctor that was being that rude -

My husband is admittantly NOT a chubby chaser.. It's kind of a sorted deal on how we hooked up to begin with, I've always been fat. He thinks I could have done this without surgery (I know better), but he supports it. I think he's anxious to see me at a normal size!
