Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah that's how I feel. Like when I texted you Terry! I was hungry and couldn't wait to get home and make the new recipe for frittata I found.. But then once I cooked it (and maybe I just over-cooked it), it was too chewy and hurt going down, so it was like making myself eat it. But again, if I had made my yummy good chicken salad which I can eat with no problem, I would have enjoyed each bite. So I guess I do see that side.. on things I can eat without problems (pudding cups, chicken salad, peanut butter).. I do savor every bite. I do like the tastes and trying to prolong them since it's not a whole lot anymore. Weee. Had sex tonight, first time since 2nd surgery.. dare I say, he put my legs over my head.. and in the heat of things, I thought Ow.. port pain.. mmm.. it's ok. LOL Now I hurt.. feels like I roughed up some sore muscles a little too early. I decided on chicken salad for tonight instead of pudding cup. Yum yum! I'm so hungry from my failed frittata attempt. -
Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you

Derick- Not true.. my husband won't get one either! And he lives on the computer.. but he thinks they cause problems and drama. He's 25. -
Why do protein powders have to take up so much space!

A few things.. The spreedsheat, yesterday mine was outdated, asked Tracy how to fix it and I don't think she told me.. maybe she has to do it?? About food.. it's a chore for me also since this last surgery. It takes a lot of work to get food down my tube! Doesn't mean I don't wish I could eat.. And on that note, restaurant meat is a waste of $$ for me right now too. I ordered steak out I guess Monday night.. and the smallest sirloin tip meal, ate 1 or 2 of them I think..had leftovers in the fridge all week.. haven't wanted to work at that again. When I had red lobster, my meal had 10 scallops, I almost died from being stuffed after 4.. and seafood does NOT reheat well.. so, I'm thinking I need to just quit ordering meals when I go out. Get an appetizer or something. I made a frittata for dinner tonight.. with onions and bacon in it. I'm not real impressed.. maybe I made it wrong, was very 'eggy' (yes, it's eggs.. but like omelets aren't eggy, they're fluffy) and the top and bottom were chewy.. so could only eat the inside of it. I'm kicking myself, now I want a chicken salad from my little cans, but I already ate the inside of a frittata.. what to do.. I have 200 calories left for today.. was saving it for a pudding snack.. might make chicken salad instead! -
kind of.. if it's a lot of ooze it can be infection.. but the body is producing blood cells to heal it and can leak sometimes. I'm not a doctor! If it looks weird or hurts or anything, call your doc

America does really tame down the commercials. But in our defense.. I don't need to see a naked woman to encourage me to eat tofu and veggies. I got a mirror that sends a clearer message! In fact, I roll my eyes at 90% of commercials. Me and TiVo have a very special, meaningful relationship. He knows just what I like.

Hah, what a wonderful story. Glad you used the $$$$ stuff!

..and then you lose more weight and can't wear them. I know, I'm a buzzkill. Just thinking about the costs that could amount to.. unless of course someone in your family is nice and artistic and would help you out for free!

1 Yr Bandiversary - Thanks for all your help
Daisalana replied to Lisa99's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Happy Bandiversary! Congrats on the success  -
Wasa- Wowsa. Mine hero

Not just you  They thought I was leaking, and under x-ray they saw it not going into my band. So I had revision surgery last Friday, ends up my port was just flipped completely backward.. so they moved it. I feel your pain with the complication, but it's time to rock'n'roll now! :clap2:

I keep having to buy new cloths ( why should I be complaining? ) and other struggles.
Daisalana replied to celinejen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Buy smaller sizes that are elastic if you're worried about the $$.. Like buy a size 6 skirt, that has elastic in the band that could fit up to an 8. I look sloppy right now too. I am also digging out smaller clothes in my closet.. once I get below size 18 though, I'll have to shop. I bought 1 set of 18 jeans last diet I was on, and could barely put them on before I fell off the band wagon. Besides that point in time, I'd never been below a size 18 (in my teen-adult life). I was busting into a size 30 when I had surgery and I'm now a comfortable 20/22. -
What were your incisions closed with?
Daisalana replied to faithmd's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
He used dissolvable internal stitches and steristrips on me. He normally uses staples, but I made a big to-do about it, so he said he's try not to use staples unless he had to. 1 incision ended up bubbling out and forming a weird scar. For my revision surgery it was steri-strips again.. not sure if there were any internal stitches. -
I love asparagus also.. the canned kind in stores is really soft, and I like eating that. I never liked it so much when it's hard from grilling, but I don't see how anyone would have any trouble with canned asparagus unless they're band's just fickle!
-
baby- what kind of apple slices? fresh apples or canned?
-
Yeah, maybe that's what it was.. I don't have whatever it is, so I'm not really educated in it.. just know something about thyroid not working right.
-
While you wait for their responses, I know there are several vegeterian banders here There is a thread in food somewhere about tofu, seems like a good choice for non-meat protein. And you can still eat some veggies, that's just a sample of things some people have problems with (asparagus).. but everyone is different.

Bah, I'm sure you look great! Quit being so hard on yourself, and dish up the pics!!! -
If your doctor gave you the lap-band, he obviously didn't think it was a problem! That's why I think she should ask her doctor.. my doctor tested me for thyroid problems (my whole life I've been tested for that).. and said if I had thyroid problems, WLS isn't effective means of controlling it.

congrats!!!

Doctors can do bloodwork and get to the root of this, and let you know if it's in fact medical or not as to why you're gaining weight. Good luck with your new doctor, and ask them if they think Weight loss surgery would be beneficial for you

Great job! I can only dream of being within 15lbs of goal at 15 months!

Ohhh, so he's the father of your kids? Well it makes more sense to me now, I didn't know this was that guy. -
Never heard of Big Medicine, but you all have me intrigued, going to have to TiVo it. Is it like, only weight loss surgeries, reality?
