Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Terry- I'm glad you said something, I never thought of that. I just went to look at symptoms of anemia, and the biggest on (besides fatigue of course)-- cold hands & feet. I'm normally always hot, but the past week I've had hands and feet that were like ICE CUBES. It's been a very bizarre turn of events for me, I thought maybe it's because I'm not eating a lot of calories and body couldn't warm them up LOL. I'm going to get a liquid iron supplement today and hopefully by Thursday I'll be back to normal!! -
Help!! Is It Weight Or Bad Working Conditions?
Daisalana replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My biggest concern and reason for the lap band, was crippling back pain due to being overweight. I had done cortisone injections for years, but they were not working anymore.. and I couldn't walk for long periods of time. For me, I just needed to lose about 40lbs to get the majority of the pain off.. and that was 2-3 months post-op. (I have since slowed down!!) But overall, my quality of health & life were improved after those 40lbs because the back pain was not crippling, so I was less lazy.. willing to walk to do things, not insisting on front row parking, etc. -
I saw the playdough!! I told DH we should get that.. and he said, I wouldn't let my kids have playdough from strangers. Men!! We're going to get candy, but when the time comes I'm getting candy I absolutely hate.. that way I'm not tempted to eat it. Normally we get bags of candy early and of course they don't last!

Morning! Come visit Alabama LOL! Kity- I watch both those shows, I watched Weeds last night, but DH wanted to watch Heroes, so I'll watch Californication when I get home tonight. Weeds was good as always! I woke up sooo tired, I've been like this for a couple weeks now. I have such a hard time waking up, I'm late for work EVERY DAY. And normally on weekends I can't 'sleep in' past 10am.. but this weekend I slept till 1 and 12:30!! I don't know what's going on. I'm taking my vitamins and protein, I'm not sick (my UTI or whatever it is seems to be going away now). Today I fussed at husband to get up since I am having a hard time waking up (I'm the one who normally gets us up).. so at 7:50 alarm went off, at 8:10 it woke him up and he woke me up.. It took 5 minutes for me to move, and that was to turn the alarm off. I went back to sleep.. I guess he did too. He woke me up again at 8:30. Left house at 8:50.. suppose to be here at 9, got here at like 9:10. Why am I so sleepy all the time!!! -
Interacial marriages are illegal in Alabama.. I think they put it to a re-vote since it was an 'old law', but last I heard, they turned it down because-- "It's tradition". Heh.

Yeah, thats why they say no NSAIDS, I've heard other stories of people trying to eat it so it's not in their pouch, and it burns.. hence why it's not suppose to be in the lil pouch! I do still take my advil for my back sometimes, I just make sure I'm on an empty stomach and drink a whole bottle of water with it to wash it through. Have you tried Sudafed? It's pretty small pills and that's what I take for sinus problems. Of course, you have to show your ID and get put on a list like you're doing something illegal when you buy it.. but, in the end I find it's worth it!

I eat it cold. I guess you could heat it up

I finally tried my canned turkey last night. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I mixed it with about a tablespoon of cranberry sauce.. Mixed very very well so everything was just pink tinted and no clumps. Had to flake the turkey up. It was SO good, felt like I was eating Thanksgiving dinner. No PB's.. even though turkey deli meat makes me PB. This is my NEW new favorite food hah!

Kat- SOUNDS JUST LIKE MY WORK!!! We are trying to hire more people for the plant, and since we're understaffed, we're having a lot of errors, lots of lost money for reprinting and people like me (the sales staff) have to go back and smooth things over. Our problem is we're hiring press apprentices.. which I guess draws NO ONE's attention in the paper. And they have 12 hour shifts through to Christmas because this is our busy season (another turn off), we run 24 hours, so some of the shifts are through the night, and apprentices make like $11 an hour, but their sole purpose is to learn how to operate the press, and eventually move up to press man ($25+ an hour).. but people are never there long enough to get to the good pay. People don't seem to be too hungry in our city, I guess. We have a lot of people come and work for a week and then quit.. last press helper that quit left a POST IT on the press "This isn't for me" and disappeared. End of rant, can't do anything about it. Heard someone from England is flying in (experienced press man), I can't wait, I hope it works out! -
Well after I tried their chili, one of those no-refrigerate turkey & dressing things, and then another rice one.. I swore Hormel off. The stuff was absolutely disgusting, my dog wouldn't even eat it!!! But they sucked me back in with this canned turkey. I bought everything they had on the shelf LOL. We don't normally go to that grocery store, so I don't want to have to go back there again in just a couple days.. So I got 12 cans of turkey, and then bought a few of the small cranberry sauce cans, even though I only use 1tbsp when I mix it with 1 can of turkey.. I'm afraid I'll let them sit in the refrigerator too long and go bad.

I'm pretty good about logging my food, I do it at work for the day before normally. I don't keep up with how much water I drink or entering in exercise. Sometimes I disagree with its calculations of calories spent from said exercises.. and adding water doesn't change any of my values.. and I drink water throughout the day as I want to drink it, I don't want to look at it and go "oh no, I need 2 more bottles of water!" and just start chugging it lol. -
We went to Wal-Mart yesterday- they didn't have it!!! So on the way home from work I asked husband to stop at Kroger so I could get more.. he said we got it at Star Market, not Kroger.. I don't know what branch (if any) Star Market is. Anyway they are Hormel brand.. and before you get turned off LOL.. I know, their no-refrigerate-already-made-chili-and-other-foods.. HORRIBLE. But this canned turkey, really is the yum yum. I also noticed that had Hormel canned chicken in that area too (where they have tuna), but I've not tried their brand. And some other brand had the bag of turkey breast (like the bag of tuna things). Here's a link to it on amazon.. it's 96% fat free, chunk turkey in water. 60calories per serving, 2.5 servings per can. WOOHOO TERRY! You'll have to let us know if it's worth it. Sounds like a glorified myplate (free) + pedometer (free.. with my bariatrict surgery LOL.. till husband broke it one day from shaking it really hard.. men!). I'm skeptical, I hope you prove me wrong! I like new gadgets. -

I've been bouncing numbers, but that's what I do.. till it becomes new bounced numbers. Like, it was 285-287 bounce, bounce.. then it's 283-285, bounce bounce. Right now it's 279-281 I keep bouncing. I just wait for the new 'bounced' number and that's my new ticker, cause I know it's going to go below that soon hehe. -
This thread threw me off, but Happy Thanksgiving to you banders across the boarder! :car:

My doctor had the nutritionist come to his office to meet with me, it was included in the 'pre-paid package'. She had hand-outs provided from my doctor I believe about what to eat pre-op diet, the post-op diet, what foods might have problems, etc. It all sounded like standard things out of the Inamed handbook, except she said don't drink through a straw.. She was meeting with me and a girl about to get RNY, so some of the things she had to clarify which was which, and she wasn't sure on the straw so she told me not to do it. I drink out of a straw almost everyday, but she said the reason is it would get a lot of air in your stomach.. but I haven't had any problems, or noticed unusual amounts of air.. so.. (shrug).

Oh and this isn't an NSV I earned, just error on some clothing maker's part.. When me and mom went clothing shopping a month or so ago (she wears 12/14..) there was this really cute shirt.. and the only size they had was 14/16, so mom got it and I was going to live vicariously through her hehe. Well, she finally tried it on, and it was way too big, didn't fit well at all. She was going to give it to my aunt (who is about a 14/16), but I said.. for giggles, let me try it!! So I put it on yesterday, fit *perfectly*. So, I wore a 14/16 yesterday! The sizing was way messed up (this was from Cato's). It's more like an 18/20 at the least...but still to say I put on a size 14/16 BUTTON UP shirt with no problems LOL! Felt good regardless. Never happened before in my life. -

That's true.. Jennifer I am 6'0 and have lost 54lbs, with 99lbs to go! What are you complaining about? LOL!!! You're doing great, keep your chin up and be proud of yourself!! Mdrai- Ok just for example.. lets say its on my left arm.. and I'm bowling (which I know burns lots of cals!!), and I bowl with my right arm.. how does it know what's going on? What is it tapping into LOL. I'm interested if it's legitimate, but I need to understand how it comes up with its info first.. -
I'm the same way, my favorite cookbook right now is '4 ingredients or less' cook book.. I don't have time for fancy schmancy stuff!

I can't watch videos at work. What does it do?? Here's my dilemma (since I don't know how this works?!).. According to random calculators I've found on the internet, for me to lose 2lbs a week I need to eat between 2100-2650 calories a day. Then there's my doctor's scale.. which gives me this info also. And I have to weigh barefoot on some metal things.. I asked one of the doctor's assistants about it, he didn't know what it was, so he just gave me a generic answer "yes, go by that". But it said 2005 calories a day. So, what is accurate? Is my doctor's scale giving me valid info? Those calculators are so different, what do I go by? The first surgeon I saw, did a metabolism test and at the time (333lbs) for me to lose 2lbs a week I could eat 3500 calories! That being said, I am between 1300-1600 a day right now (minus yesterday!!!).. and I am NOT losing 2lbs a week. So.. I'm confused, and my brain boggled. What's body bugg do? Is it just a rough calculator like the websites, or what? -

Hope you start feeling better kity!!! Just something exciting I just realized too.. when I lose 2 more lbs I will officially NOT BE MORBIDLY OBESE!!! :clap2::whoo::whoo: I will be BMI of 39.. and only Severely Obese. What a great feeling it is to know that! Of course, after yesterday I may have more than 2lbs to lose! I'm not looking at the scale, I'm keeping up the good mojo! -
I'm going to have to force myself to eat.
