And here approaches my first set of Holidays with the band. So far, I am being very good.. anyone else having NSV moments when they pass the unbelievable amount of Halloween candies and treats?? I deliberately don't walk down candy aisles anymore as not to tempt myself.. but when I go grocery shopping now, there they are EVERYWHERE. I walk by them several times, and I hear them whisper my name. But alas, I say NO TO YOU CANDY!! Anyone else having these proud moments? :car:

PostSecret PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. It's interesting.. funny.. sad.. They update it every Sunday, so every Monday I enjoy looking through them, thought I'd pass it along!

Actually, they are 90 calories :biggrin1: And they are yummy good.. and I think the amount in the bag is a good amount for bandsters, they fill me up.

Geez you guys are quiet lately. 2 things.. 1st, I got a sample of curves cereal in the mail today. I don't see anything special about it (I.e. High content of fiber protein etc) and it's 190 calories per 1 cup!!! I like honey nut cheerios which are 110c per cup. Pff.. Husband is mad at me, and I'm not quite sure why. I think it has to do with who makes more money and he's been holding all this resentment about it and it came to a head today when I got some Christmas wrapping paper in the mail today. Very bizarre, but he was yelling at me and told me he doesn't want to talk to me, and he went back to bed around 1pm, and hasn't gotten up since. He's MAJORLY PMSing, I'm baffled right now. So decided to make food he can reheat later if he wants. Made chicken & dumplings, and didn't have enough bisquick so tried to incorporate flour.. didn't work out so well, so its just a thick chicken & chicken broth soup. I also made zuccini & squash casserole (MMM). I haven't made that since last thanksgiving, and it went down fine. Was sooo good. If I wasn't so full I'd be having more. We're suppose to go back to the horseshow tonight to see his family, but since he's not gettin out of bed I'm not in any rush to be with him and his family tonight. Tomorrow's my family's cookout and we celebrating my bro's b'day. I'm making pumpkin cake w/cream cheese icing! -

Morning girls! I'm about to run to the store, but wanted to check real quick.. Anyone wanting to 'try' Curves? Those sandals I bought from them, they're sending me a 2 week guest pass for Curves.. I don't know the terms for it, but I assume you get to go to Curves for 2 weeks free. I'm not usin it, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll mail it to ya! -
Instant grits, instant oatmeal, jello, pudding, yogurt.. most the mushy stuff going into solid foods (for my list) were refrigerated or microwave items anyway. I also was told I can have tuna on mushies.. if your doctor said you can have tuna, its in a can

Was this a PB? Warning: Disgusting
Daisalana replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But... I have PBed and it went into my nose, and it reminded me of vomit. Anytime I have ever gotten vomit (or food.. rice goes up in me when I use to inhale and don't have tonsils/uvula/adnoids) they all have the same burning acidy feel. Smell would be vomit I think though. I never have a bad smell, its just burning and acidic. Generally though, you would feel the pain of PBing before you have it going up to your nose -
I count calories when I think I'm going overboard, but I've become lax with it because I'm getting good at eyeballing. As for low-fat, I don't really do all that. My yogurt might be low-fat, but it's not something I went out of my way for. I *did* start buying skim milk after I got banded, and since I was never a milk person anyway, it's good to me. So that's the only low-fat thing I get. If I eat cheese or anything dairy, I don't get LF. I eat so little, I want to enjoy the taste instead of holding my nose!

Hi, my name is Laura..and I have a problem... I'm addicted to my scale!!! I couldn't help it! I moved the cat bed and everything. Gah. The good news is.. 275lb!!! 3lbs this week. WHOOTYWHOOT. Bout time I got some numbers dropping quickly, I feel like a sloooow loser. This is the quickest I've seen it drop in a while. And my doc's scale is 6lbs lighter (about), so that means 269?! All my numbers are updated by his scale (the 333lb.. which means at home I was 369lb..ugh). I'm excited about my appt. on Monday, I've been such a good girl. When I 'cheat', I allot calories for it, so it works out. Tonight for whatever reason I was CRAVING Krystals after the hockey game (for anyone not in the south, it's the southern White Castle.. the nastiest greasiest, can't be good for anyone little mini burgers). I was letting the craving subside, by telling myself the GOOD things at home I can heat up. So I'm about to go heat up a piece of kielbasa and get a handful of grapes. Whew. No Krystals. -
I had a little breathing exercise machine the doctor gave me to take home, and I had to bring it to the hospital with me. They said do it pre-op to strengthen my lungs. They said when I awoke from surgery I needed to be doing the exercises on it (you breath into it, and balance a ball at a certain pressure of blowing). I was so out of it, I don't remember doing it, but the nurse said they'd make sure my family would make me do it, so I assume they did. They also had to make me walk the halls, and I fuzzily remember that.

They had to poke me a lot since they didn't realize port was flipped.. The only thing that hurt was when they pushed down on the port to find it (which they did a lot). Now that it's moved, my port does not hurt when pushed on, so I wonder if that was from the port being flipped. 5 minutes later, it would be bruised and the poking would start hurting. But if your port is easily accessed, my experience is that it's a breeze. The numbing shot doesn't bother me either, they did that a couple times when they were doing their series of pokes that went on for a while.

I use to drink soooo much during meals (3-4 glasses!). I made an effort to cut back, and was down to a sip or two (small) during a meal. At first it was hard, now I don't even think about it. I do order a drink, but some people say don't. By the time we finish our meal my glass is still completely full. If I drink during eating right now, it makes me spit up. But if we're out to dinner or something, I always get my tea to-go, and have it later after food is moved.

I got tired of only seeing 1 week at a time, so I bought all 4 books they've made. I've finished 1 and a half. It's really bizarre, interesting, artistic? The book covers are really nice, they put a lot of money into these!!

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Yesterday... B'fast- Whipped Key Lime Yogurt Orange juice an hour later Lunch- 1 scrambled egg w/cheese, 1/2c of grits Snack- Grapes with cream cheese Dinner- 1/2 of a large order of Wendy's chili with cheese Snack- Small handful of Ritz chips & 100 calorie ice cream -
Antibiotic cream, sure.. but mederma says not to put on new wounds. I don't know how quickly they're healed at 1 week, but I'm almost 1 month post-op from 2nd surgery and neither of my incisions (port size incisions) look ready for mederma.

My port flipped completely backward after detaching from where they put it.. so they could not access it to fill it. So I went back under, they took it out and replaced it higher up (between my boobs) and stitched it back in.

I have a couple numb spots, it's where the nerves were cut when they go inside. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn't I guess I have a big spot below my port scar that is completely numb and no signs of it coming back!

Has your sex life changed since getting the band?
Daisalana replied to 000000000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My port does give me problems during certain positions with sex, but it just takes some maneuvering or tolerance. Think of it being a lil kinky, now you get pain with the pleasure -
Me too, the 100 calorie things REALLY are a god-send for me. Anytime I have a regular package, I will end up eating more than I need to. Ritz chips are a good example, I eat those and they're not in little packs, and I don't count how many I eat! But everything I have in 100 calorie packs, 1 pack is plenty for me. And I know it was only 100 calories!

That's interesting! I'm having a lot of typical foods getting stuck.. and sadly, I can't eat bananas right now either.. But yogurt doesn't phase me, or anything 'cold'..
-
I find if I drink while I'm eating, it makes me spit up water. The food is getting trapped in there, and the water builds up on top, so I have to spit it up. I was weaning myself off of drinking while eating, and was down to 1-2 sips per meal, but now I can't even tolerate it. You don't "have to have" a drink while you eat.

Congrats all you quitters When I decide to quit, I plan on doing the Chantix route, everyone at work is doing it.. 2 people have quit, 2 people say they don't 'want' to smoke, they just do (cause they alcoholics and it goes hand in hand when they get drunk).

Kat- Go get your name changed! You can't miss out!!!! Even if you don't 'go by' your 'new' legal name, just have it on your important documents. Tracy- YAYAYAYAYA! That is so exciting, I can't even imagine what all that was like for you guys. This deserves a celebration.. Chuck E Cheese? Horseshow went well last night, it was nice how I can walk without problems now!! This was a big example, the barns are a ways away from the show arena, and we walked back and forth, back and forth. His dad's legs started hurting so they took the golf cart back and forth, and everytime they asked if I wanted a ride.. I said 'Nope! I can walk'. So I got quite a bit of exercise. Not only did it not hurt, but I was never out of breath either. And since his parents were doing the shows, we didn't go to their box and sit down, we stood near where they come in..so lots of standing.. didn't phase me! One of their customers (they train her horse, then she rides them in the shows) is a huge girl, looks around my age. And DH's brother was making fun of her (to me). I was just like hm.. I guess I'm not fat enough anymore, that now I'm actually TOLD the fat jokes. The girl was nice, but DH's dad made the comment "If I could have had a daughter, it would have been her". Now, I know I shouldn't take it personal, but that really hurt my feelings!! Even today it hurts my feelings. They'd like me a lot more if they'd try to get to know me!! It's not my fault they're such a closed up family. Hrmph. I know I shouldn't let it bother me that he said that...but it does. Then she won her class. We were all surprised, so that was nice. The pony she has is a stubborn one, and she does the cart that goes behind ponies.. and the pony could not pull her weight very well, so when they did the fast gate, her pony was going too slow. So I still wonder how she won that.. Hockey game is tonight. Yay.. stuff with MY fam. Although, they said their best horses and best competitions (best in show ones) are tomorrow night, and before DH could make an excuse so he could stay at home playing video games, I said "we'll be here!". I had fun.. so, we're going back tomorrow too -
I came to the realization anyone with the annoying bass woofer things in their car, ALL WORK NIGHT SHIFTS. When we lived in New Mexico, our neighbors everynight around 2am they came in with the noise.. and it would wake me up. I would get so mad, I couldn't wait to move. Now in our new neighborhood, they just built a house next door. Same damn thing, around 3am now. Wakes me up every night. And one thing I don't understand, it's not like they pull up and go in the house. It's like they sit there every night for 5 minutes, so the neighborhood knows they're home. I hate them for that stuff, it's when I go "How friggin selfish are these people." THEY KNOW it's loud. THEY KNOW people are sleeping. Get some decency.
