The restriction causes the hole where things drain out of the pouch to shrink. So you have a pouch, but likely with a large opening. Food drains through quicker, you get hungrier quicker. It's not only about portions you can eat, but how long that portion keeps you full. When you get a fill, that hole gets smaller from being tightened.. thus food goes through slower, and you can't get as much in, because it takes longer to empty.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Oy!! I forgot I have a lunch date with my HS best friend (we lost touch, ends up we both moved back here! We caught up on myspace last week and spent a night on the phone for a while). At 11.. it's 10:30 and I'm half-way through my weight loss oatmeal LOL!!! I just called to make sure we're still on.. we are.. I guess I'll get a small bowl of soup. Darn, I hate when I mess up my eating flow like this. -
Jaz- I can kind of relate, my whole life I've been big, in elementary school I was wearing men's clothing (before they had the trendy plus size clothes for girls).. My mom has always been a size 12-14 at 5'10ish. I always resented her for the clothes she could wear, but I couldn't. I got over it, for the most part. It only rears its ugly head when there's something I really like (a cute sweater for example) and it only comes in her smaller sizes. Then she gets it, and everytime I see it, I have bad mojo. You could try to help her eat better, or exercise.. But honestly, none of that ever helped me either  How old is your daughter? Is she a candidate for lap-band?

You're a vixen Chickie, pff! And you guys have a right to 'brag', hell it gives the rest of us motivation at the very least.

Well I'm eating the banana bread flavor. It's not bad like I started to think it would be due to the extra protein (which means they must add that nasty protein powder?!).. but there's the artificial sweetener taste to it, that I'm not too keen about. It even smells like it. It's definitely not my favorite, but it's good enough to eat  I think I'm going to try the maple one next.

The cinnamon quaker oat bites remind me of french toast, the peanut butter remind me of coconut (huh??), and the chocolate (my least fav) taste like coacoa puffs. They're all good, but the cinnamon and peanut butter are a major treat for me. AND it has 3 or 4g of fiber in that little pouch.

WOW TRACY! You look like an 'average' weight! I'm in awe. Share some of that mojo with me!!!! I feel like such a cow right now with PMS. Running late again due to sick hubby. I made the mistake of wakin him up to see if he was comin to work, and I had to listen to 5 minutes of hackin and spitting into a bottle before he goes 'noooo'. Then had to take the dog out in another rainy day, so I had to walk her tightly on the leash so she didn't get into red clay which meant I had to stand in the rain while she sniffed forEVER! Bowling last night was funny.. 103, 203, 170.. 100 pins over my first game, I can't believe I bowled so bad that first game. I just couldn't get my ball to go anywhere I wanted it to.. by the 2nd game we had moved the oil around so it wasn't so bad. Didn't have time to make oatmeal again, but I brought it and a little bowl with me to work so I'm about to go make that and a cup of coffee. I'm having really bad stomach cramps, doesn't feel like PMS, feels like.. something stomach-y. And another update on my sister.. she went back last Friday, still has pnemonia, so they called a lung specialist in.. over the weekend she is like a zombie, when you talk to her she litterly slurs and mumbles and passes out in the middle of conversations. I asked her if she was on pain meds/ xanax/ etc, because thats what it seems like. She said no. So Monday she went to the lung specialist, they are convinced something else is the cause, and they're still missing it. So they did another cat scan and they are doing a lot more tests today and tomorrow. I swear, this keeps dragging out. They need to admit her to the hospital, do all the tests at once, and quit dragging this out!!!! HOUSE WOULD HAVE FIXED HER BY NOW! -

Would be like May 8-11 if we pushed it up. I don't care, as long as it's not in between Aug-Feb. -

Ohh and sometimes the DOG SNORES. Her bed is on DH's side, so I have to call her throughout the night, wakes her up for a minute and she normally shifts positions before going back to sleep. -

Which embarrasses you more?

My brother's fiance came in looking for him today.. and said 'Wow you're just melting!', and at first I was confused, it's freezing in here, I'm not sweating!! Then I had a DUH moment.. Made me feel good, I think I take the compliments well One akward moment I had, a guy in the back was saying how great I look and blah blah, and then asked how much I lost. I told him.. then he said he lost 40lbs recently too. And I was speechless.. he's a joker, and I didn't know if he was serious, so I was checking him out and I honestly didn't know he was 40lbs overweight to begin with. So I'm oblivious or he's exaggerating. So I just told him, I never realized he was overweight, he looks great! But I still lament over how that played out.. DH's mom at the horseshow this weekend said I look 'better and better' everytime she sees me. I must have been such an eyesore before Again, I still liked hearing it! -
How often do you have a protein shake for breakfast?
Daisalana replied to mandi78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't found one that makes me jump for joy, so I do a protein shake for b'fast maybe once a month. I stay full longer if I eat something (like granola bites). But honestly ANYTHING for b'fast keeps me full till lunch.. I'm not a morning eater. I even get stomach rumblings around lunch time, that my body is hungry but my head doesn't catch up, so I don't feel the need to eat. It's reversed at night! -

I like beef jerkey for 'on the run'. I keep a jar of 25 strips near the fridge so I can grab one when I need it. I am on the go a lot, but normally I'm on the go to get somewhere I can sit down and eat, so I make lunches the day before, or grab yogurt for b'fast that I eat when I get to work. Always keep a snack drawer at work.. full of kudos bars, curves bars, and granola bites at the moment. I normally have some fruit leathers (45c of yummy good), and beef sticks in there too. -
How Many Calories Do You Consume On An AVERAGE Day?
Daisalana replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Losing hair, I average around 1400 a day. I wanted to see the poll results, and now I'm wondering how quickER I would lose if I go under 1,000. Hum.. And asked my doc Monday about what they suggest for hair loss, they said Biotin. So I bought a 500mg dose (says 1,667% of daily value WOW.. guess you can't overdose) yesterday and started taking it last night. Fingers crossed.. they said if it doesn't work, at least I'll have pretty nails. Hurmph. -

Panda- I KNOW! I hate it, I really do. I kind of feel bad for others that I complain to if I have to sleep with them, but I'm really the one suffering. I hate laying in bed and not being able to sleep. On the other hand, I don't have spend the nights so this hasn't been a problem for a long time haha. Me & Panda for roomies, you guys got that?? Another quiet buddy And I don't plan to sleep a LOT, but I'm old.. I need my rest hehe. -
This actually is so much different from pre-band for me. I ate so much fast food it's ridiculous.. Favorite b'fasts.. Yoplait Key Lime Whipped Yogurt or Quaker Oat Bites Favorite Lunches.. Canned turkey mixed with cranberry sauce, small chili from wendy's, baked potato from steak out, egg salad(I've been craving this lately), a big handful of red grapes, or a small handful of colby cheese cubes. Favorite Dinners- My first mushy food: a crab cake (appetizer) from Ruby Tuesdays. My goodness, and it's still a favorite dinner for me. chicken & dumplings (homemade), swedish meatballs & a veggie, beef & broccoli from chinese take out, keilbasa & saurkraut.. These are things I like having for those meals. I don't have any specific favorite I guess for 'overall'.

I have officially lost the 'statistic' weight loss, and before I started I was determined to beat that statistic. I would be flippin off my rocker if I could get to 180. And hopefully a year from now, I'll be 180 and pushing to get to maybe 160. No idea! It's all new and exciting, to see what being a normal weight is like.

I think you should relocate too Jen, get out of there and start over! Doesn't sound like you'll be losing anything except baggage. I had 4-piece chicken nuggets from Chic-Fil-A for lunch. This morning was hectic. It's dark and cold out today, woke up to DH moanin for meds, and dog whinin to go out. When it's wet out, we take her on a leash out front since backyard has red clay holes..that don't mesh with our pale cream colored carpets. Well I was running late, so I let dog out back without thinking, went to get DH meds and a drink.. come back and dog must have been rolling in the damn red clay. Took a wet wash cloth and paper towels out there, soaking her feet, wiping and wiping.. that crap never ends.. the red clay STILL was all over when I'd put her paw down. So I had to carry her big 60lb butt to her crate (I was panting and out of breath from this!) Didn't get to make my weight loss oatmeal this morning since I was running late, so grabbed a yogurt on my way out. Feh. Then I get to work and that e-bay e-mail was fwded to me asking me if I knew what it was. THEN I looked on our website, the CSR Manager is who this nut job sent the e-mail to and her e-mail isn't on the website, so I have no idea how she knew it.. this lady is creepy. Go away creepy lady, I don't need you! And we're doing yearbooks for a local church, and they are high maintenance. They have no idea what they're doing, and proofs cost $450 each.. she wanted to do a proof, then do corrections and another proof for free. When I told her that's not how it works-- needs to be correct the first time, the proof is so you don't end up printing $10k worth of yearbooks because you didn't notice something before it was printed. I find myself very unforgiving of customers who are not only unknowing of what they're doing, but try to tell me I should do it their way because that's how they want to do it. Once I explain the process, it's that way or no way! I can't change how everything works here. But they keep talking like I'm going to waive the $450.. that's not even mine, it's the people who have to deal with their horribly put together art files. They deserve every penny, especially when you make them re-do it!! /end rant.
