Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hah, I don't know what your long story is but I keep thinking about getting a new ring. I thought about it since I got mine. I wore a size 11 ring, and he wanted to use Shane Co. for whatever reason (I think because you could pick the diamond out specifically). Anyway.. They said if I got a size 11 ring, they could NOT do any of the pretty bands. There was one I absolutely loved, but they said due to the size, the integrity of the band is compromised and the diamonds in the band would fall out. So I had to get the generic simple white gold band with diamond. To make up for the lack of excitement, I got a ring guard that is very pretty and has little diamonds in it.. But I still think about that one ring we picked out initially that they wouldn't make for me. I'm at LEAST a size 9 ring now. My mom is a size 7 and I am able to get her wedding ring 3/4 down my ring finger (even as a kid I could only put it on my pinky finger!). Only problem is, I don't know what I'd do about my wedding band now. Can't change that. I have decided to take up a new hobby. I always wanted to learn to decorate fancy cakes. The problem was 1. there is always left over cake at our family things and no one LOVES cakes.. they like it, but no one eats a lot 2. I LOVE cake and wouldn't be able to control myself So.. decided to try cookie bouquets! I did a lot of online research on what I need and recipes. We're going to the grocery store and Hobby Lobby today to get supplies for me to start. I am going to do a test batch (or two) and then for T'day if I can figure this all out, going to do a HUGE bouquet of decorated Cookies for the desert table...leaves and pumpkins etc. And if that goes well, going to give every group of family in my family a Christmas bouquet for Christmas. I am excited! I am not a huge cookie fan, I can resist. I just love arts & crafts and this is something I've never tried. DH is worried I'll pick at the cookies. I promise to be good! I'm looking at this as an art project, not cooking. I will make sure to take pics if it turns out right and show you guys -
These are a bunch of pics I collaged of my dog Cassy. Spoiled brat, but very loving!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I didn't get skinny thoughts!! My restriction is really bothering me, I don't know where it came from I wonder if when he was de-filling, the suction pulls the saline into the tube (out of the band), and now it has settled back in finally? I was eating a handful of pork rinds, and got stuck. They dissolve into nothing! So I spit them up with a bunch of slime. 10 minutes later, took a swig of Water, and I swear INSTANTLY it came up, didn't have time to hold it in my mouth or get a trash bag, it went right in my hand. I don't understaaaand. -

Morning Ladies. Someone kick me, I forgot to do the list again! Gosh, my home life is too busy. What's silly though, I had to get up early this morning to let the electrician in to fix a vent in the bathroom, and so I've been up since 7am.. and I spent an hour on the computer, EVEN READING THE BOARDS HERE. Durrrr. Ok, seriously I am gonna get it done tonight. Sorry guys  I am kinda back on Atkins, like I'm not havin sweets with sugar, breads, or potatos.. But I'm having a V-8 for b'fast and it has 15g of carbs (-3 for fiber) so 12g of net carbs. That's higher than a true Atkins person, but I'm letting it slide. I was 268lb this morning, I've been at this weight (no bouncing on either side) for days. My gym buddy is out of town this week, and I admit, I can't make myself go alone. My next fill is in Dec. I am confused with my restriction though. After the de-fill I was too loose.. about 5 days ago I am very tight all day (even into the evening). I thought TOM, but I have no indication of it being TOM. I had cramping majorly on Friday night, but that was it. No spotting.. no weird food cravings. So I don't know what's going on. I PB'ed last night on SF jello & meatballs. And I was so hungry so I tried to keep going, but every bite, I just ended up spitting up. Weee. So sorry for your loss Jen ((hugs)) Hope you feel better Judy! Tracy you sound like you've got a lot going on all of a sudden, you're sooo brave, if DH had a kid (which I may not have dated him when I met him had that been the case anyway), I don't know how I'd handle letting them live with me!! -
When I was on mushies, I had baby food Butternut Squash and baby food Green Beans (I added salt). They were yummy! And if you like V-8, its very vegetable-y. I'm actually having one right now for b'fast

ROFLMAO Judy!! That is too funny. -
I got mine.. I bought 2 concentrates and 1 box of mixes. I don't like em.. reminds me of eggnog, which I'm not a fan of.. it's very overwhelming. I know some of you like it, and where as I don't think the liquid concentrates in easily opened jugs would ship well, the pack of vanilla chai tea mix packets would ship. If anyone wants them, send me a PM with your address. :biggrin1:
-
Just wanted to let you guys know, I have 3 people that asked for the samples. I am very forgetful lately, but I have post-it notes to remind me tonight. I will split the packets up and mail them to you all tomorrow.. promise!

Wasa- Yes, he does lap-tops too
-
My post-op instructions said I will not be drinking caffein anymore (or suppose to I guess). The instructions were generic for RNY & Lap-Band. There were some rules I either choose to ignore or I think belong to RNY for some reason. Caffeine didn't make sense to me, I'm not sure what it's suppose to effect.. I'm not a big coffee drinker, and I don't drink cokes anymore, but I do drink tea quite often. Something about for ever 1 caffeine drink, drink 2 glasses of water.

Everyone loses different, look around the boards and you will see this. I was banded April 07 too and have lost 65lbs. I am jealous of you! But that just means we're different, not better or worse than each other. Your DH is doing awesome, he should be proud of himself too! It's not a competition

Wasa- My DH builds computers for everyone in my office and family, etc. He just built one for a co-worker of mine last week. He builds it, then sends them the link. If you want someone to put it together based off of what you need, let me know, he likes doing that stuff

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hey guys! Have just been reading, not posting. Nothin' to post on my end. Atkins kick fell off this weekend. I had a cookie, and my 100 calorie ice cream at some point during the weekend. And since I messed that up, I went ahead and ate 'normal' carbs.. had one of my fruit leathers (100% fruit), had a slice of italian bread last night with butter. Blah blah, is what it is. I took my measurements this weekend, found a cute plus size boutique on e-bay and wanted to make sure I was in the right sizes. A little disappointed in my numbers. Despite the weight loss, the inches are dropping SO SLOW. I am 47"(I measured WITH the boobs)x42"x47". I think around my wedding I was 49"x46"x49". 4 months and not a lot of inches. Kind of bummed me out, not feeling all gung ho right now. I assigned the Violets for Secret Santa, but I'm at work and list is at home. I forgot to send out the e-mails last night. Shame on me! I will remember tonight, I put a post-it on my cigarette case I bought some new clothes last night, according to measurements I am a 3x at torrid.com, but I would be a 2x if my boobs weren't so big.. I should have gotten them anyway and just worn a tighter bra, or let them 'spill out' hah. I know lately when I get plus size and get too big, it looks bad.. none of the 'sexy' shirts look right if they're too big. Also bought a cute sweater/jacket on overstock. Was less than 40 bucks after shipping! Since we don't get heavy winters/snow/etc, I don't buy big thick coats, no need to add bulk to my body! Stephanie Rogers Plus Size Chunky Knit Cardigan Sweater : Women's Clothing from Overstock.com I got it in green. And me and DH went shoe shopping yesterday, his shoes are worn to the nubs and I have been wanting to find a pair of normal shoes that don't hurt my feet (I wear flip flops year round). They didn't have size 11 in ANY of the women's shoes. In the men's size (in my size) all they had were bright white.. and this was Hibbet's sporting whatever. I couldn't believe it, was very irritated. So I wrote down women's styles I liked, ordered them from New Balance Outlet (they carry up to size 12 and WW for women). The one pair I loved.. a dark brown with Pink "N"s on them only had size 11 no wide width, so I ordered them to see if they'll fit. I hate my feet. Also ordered 11 W of some cute Mary Jane tennis shoes they make. So even if the normal tennies don't fit, I'll have something to wear besides flip flops. I had more to say than I thought I did. -
How Many Have Lost 100lbs In 6 Months???
Daisalana replied to princesst's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
65lbs in 7 months. Booo. -
I didn't have problem with shrimp initiallly, but I seem to have a problem with them now. I don't like fish.. But I love crab, and crab legs & crab cakes go down fine for me. My first 'solid' meal was the crab cake appetizer from Ruby Tuesday's.. mmm. I stll get that everytime we go there, sometimes with the salad bar depending on how hungry I am.

Hah hah, I am on BC to regulate my periods, but my hope is that when I lose weight, it will help itself.. and the actual birth control aspect is a bonus. If I didn't need to take it for periods, I'd probably do something else, just to keep from any risks associated with BC in general. I had a gyno in NM that was a real pushy lady about my weight. When I complained about my mood swings and horrible PMS, she wouldn't suggest different meds, or anything.. her answer was 'Stop eating sugar, sugar is the cause of all your problems'. And of course, always harping me to lose weight, I hated goin to her. I knew she was down there judging my fat hooty ha. My gyno now did not say anything about me being overweight, she's smart enough to know.. FAT PEOPLE KNOW THEY ARE FAT. FAT PEOPLE KNOW THEY SHOULD LOSE WEIGHT. She doesn't know about my band, I see her next month.. Hope she notices the 60lb loss!

I want to know the physical reasons for it, because it amazes me. I take my b/c pills back to back so I do not have periods, but I still have PMS. It is NOT that TOM for me. My restriction is less than it should be, but I'm riding it out till my next doc appt. in December. 2 days ago, I felt SO tight. It was hard to get liquids down, even in the evening. This is very unusual for me. Yesterday, same thing.. and then I started having HORRIBLE PMS cramps (which is unusual for the most part). So the band, predicts my PMS times. Even though its not typical PMS time, the band knows what's up somehow! Very very bizarre IMO. I want to know what happens to cause the band to get tighter during TOM.. does the stomache swell during this time or what?

6 figures in Australia is less in American isn't it? It's been a while since I was there, but I thought $1.5 Australian about is $1 American.. There's somewhere in Florida where if you make less than 50m you're not upper class. Depends on where you are, certainly -
I guess that was my point. Even though I'm not spoiled with presents anymore, Christmas is just a happy magical time of year for me, that I get all giddy about. We had lunch at the mall today and they have decorations up and I was bouncing and going 'Look! Crimmas crimmas!'.. and DH just laughed at me.. he's not a huge Christmas fan either (his family doesn't do much in way of any holidays).. so.. what I was saying is that I have such fond memories because Christmas was a spoiling happy fun time..

Those little oranges.. mandarins! I eat those fine.

Maybe, I haven't looked at it since surgery date. I just remember cramming all kinds of stuff in my bag and on our way home I thought about how I didn't need any of it. They wouldn't let me put on my PJ's either, so pff. I ended up wearing a housedress to & from the hospital. Oh yes, the pillow was good for the car ride! I didn't bring it in the hospital, but was 3 hours from home.. so on the car ride, it was a necessity.

Should I or Should I Not?

I dated a guy with a PA, I vote AYE. Actually, the row of barbells up the shaft are sooo much better for the lady. My 2 cents. Now, is this what we're voting on? har! (Wishes DH wasn't such a fuddy duddy) -
Strategies to curb your hunger while you lose

That's really interesting.. I do notice (and in the past I was always no lettuce, tomato,or pickle) but I like stacking lettuce on food now just for added low-cal substance. And blending a whole bunch of random veggies in your fruit smoothie normally doesn't change the taste much (unless it's something strong such as beets or corn).. but blending a bit of carrot/broccoli/spinache, etc.. doesn't add much of a taste to smoothies but it will add vitamins -
I took ortho tri-cyclen and ortho tri-cyclen lo, and my doctors told me I could take the 'active' pills back to back (skip the 'sugar pills') and I don't have periods.. when I had surgery and was off 2 months, it was horrendous. I swapped to Yaz about 3 weeks ago, to see if it helps on my moodiness (thats why I was swapped to lo a couple years ago, but I still am a mess around TOM even if I'm not bleeding), and I am taking the 'active' pills back to back to keep from having periods again. I did try the depo shot a couple years ago and gained 30lbs in 1 month. My friend gained 80lbs from depo.. so I'm not a big advocate of it. Since I have been on B/C pills since I was 14 I can't ever tell if it's responsible for weight gain, and of course only time I was off was 2 months for lap-band and I was losing weight anyway! Once we have 2 kids, I'm having him get 'fixed' and I'll be off b/c, and I guess by then I'll be at my ideal and will never know

my 2 cents, I read the list posted on this forum somewhere (maybe the one Faith linked). I packed so much stuff.. toothbrush, change of clothes, changes of underwear, gasX, pepto, uhm.. a big bag full of junk!! I was in the hospital approx 27 hours.. When I woke up, I slooowly put on my change of underwear (they had put me in a diaper for TOM), I was dying to brush my teeth.. so I did.. and nothing else in my bag was ever touched. They wouldn't let me have anything!! No water, no ice, no jello, nothing. I don't know why (I think the nurses kept getting confused and thought I had RNY). I was begging for ice chips at one point, so they gave me the bottom of a dixie cup worth and said that's all I'm allowed to have. But I never changed my clothes, or needed any of the other stuff I brought.
