Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I have 5 CD's I can listen to every single song. So if I were on a deserted island without an Ipod hehe..I'd take Third Eye Blind-Out of the Vein, Third Eye Blind-Blue, Incubus- Morning View, GooGoo Dolls-Dizzy Up the Girl, Stroke 9 (Self titled). 4.5 is your RING size? I don't even know what that looks like!! My mom who is not overweight wears a size 7, I base all my successes in ring size against her wedding ring lol. I have size 11 engagement ring, size 10 wedding ring. If not for the wedding ring guard, I'd have lost the engagement ring a while ago. They're both spinning on my hand, and at night I put them on my right hand so they don't fall off under the sheets. I'm still waiting for my feet to shrink I went shoe shopping last week with my mom and was disappointed to find out, I still can't wear normal 11's. For those of you who signed up for moola.com, did you figure it out? I think it's a little confusing at first, but if you just click 'go play' on the top after logging in, you just play games and wager the $$ you have. If you lose it all (which I have many times) they start you back out with a penny everytime. If you win 30 games in a row you'd win 10m haha. -

Oh another workout song, back in the day when I tried the gym I listened to "harder, better, faster, stronger" by daft punk. Good beat, it's not really the music I like but this one is a good work out song. Work It Make It Do It Makes Us Harder Better Faster Stronger More Than Hour Our Never Ever After Work is Over Work It Harder Make It Better Do It Faster, Makes Us stronger More Than Ever Hour After Our Work Is Never Over -
I use to do that stuff all the time, and my DH still does it on the weekends. I can't stay up all night anymore.. I take Unisom (over the counter) on nights I am restless. I know if I 'try' to stay up all night, by 6am, I want just 30m of sleep, so I pass out, and my body WILL NOT wake up for 8 hours. So I miss work/school/etc. If I did it on the weekends, it would mess up my sleep schedule, and I always hated that feeling. I get nauseated if I take naps. Don't stay up till 7am Lauren!

The only song in the world that MAKES me get up out of my seat.. is Paralyzer by Finger 11. I don't know if it's the beats or the lyrics or both, but I always want to dance around to this song. Well I’m not paralyzed But, I seem to be struck by you I want to make you move Because you’re standing still If your body matches What your eyes can do You’ll probably move right through Me on my way to you And I had to share.. I'm looking for some recipes to make at home (haven't been cooking lately). Found this, there's a lot of things in there I don't like, but it sounded like a lot of stuff I hear you guys mention. If I liked some of this stuff I thought this recipe looked good. Num num 12 oz carton cottage cheese 1/4 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip dressing 1/2 tsp garlic salt, or to taste 1 tsp dried dill weed 1/2 tsp vinegar 1 bunch broccoli, cut into bite-size pieces 3 chicken breasts, cooked and cut into bite-size pieces 1/2 package fresh mushrooms, sliced 1 cucumber, seeded and thinly sliced 1/4 package baby carrots, sliced thin2 tomatoes, cut into wedges Method Combine first 5 ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Stir in chicken, broccoli, mushrooms, cucumbers and carrots. Turn into serving bowl; top with tomato wedges. Notes: I have served this dish at many picnics and family reunions, for which I double this recipe. I never have any leftovers. If cottage cheese has a lot of liquid, you may wish to drain off some of it. Number of servings: 6 (Unbanded) -
Why's my band tighter at different times?
Daisalana replied to chubster808's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the typical morning tightness, but lately I find I have evening tightness now too. Mid-day there's little restriction, but I'm as tight if not tighter by evening now. I use to be 100% unrestricted by evenings. Fickle band. -

poll on left shoulder pain
Daisalana replied to ajoneen's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't have this till recently, and mine comes when I'm really hungry. The front of my left shoulder starts aching and feels like I pulled something. It's very uncomfortable, at first I thought it was a heart attack or something!! But, if I go 7 hours+ during the day without eating, it sets on. And it's relatively new for me. -

One thing I would worry about if you do this often, is you will eventually stretch your esophogus out to be another stomach. You can't cram all that food in that small little pouch. -

Got this in an e-mail and thought it was neat.. >I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our >cell phone? >What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets? >What if we flipped through it several times a day? >What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it? >What if we used it to receive messages from the text? >What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it? >What if we gave it to our kids as gifts? >What if we used it when we traveled? >What if we used it in case of emergency? >This is something to make you go....hmm...where IS my Bible? When was the last time I got a text message from it? >Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry >about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill in full. >And no dropped calls! Hallelujah! -

Good morning girls! You're all right, and thanks for the kick in the pants. I have tackled my biggest weight issue-- back problems. Now I guess I feel lackadaisical. I've never been skinny in my life, so I don't have something in my brain going 'let's get back to size xx!'. I'm just content not having back problems. But I would like to see it in my lifetime, ME in a NOT plus size. It's just too unrealistic to me sometimes. I can't comprehend it. I have been feeling like the usual fat girl lately, that THIS is it. I'm just big. But I hope it's not :scared: I too have been too emberassed to say the scale bounced back to 271, and hasn't been moving. My own fault, of course. I can make excuses all I want, like that it's 'suppose' to be TOM today but.. whatever. I need to stop eating crap. So hard to do this time of year, it's like I'm a bear that needs to load up! Back to listening to my soft stop, and no more snacking. Come on, I can do this! This would be where I fall off my 'diet' in the past, but the band is going to wait for me this time. Whew. And speaking of my band, it is more fickle now than ever. It's so bizarre. I feel too loose. But now I have tight 'moments' in the evening- when I use to be able to overeat. Last night we went and saw Gypsy (the musical), and on the way home we were starving. Me and mom went to Waffle House to get it to-go so we could come home and watch Desperate Housewives (which is off now due to the strike :fish: ). Waffle house was out of to-go boxes, so we drove all the way into town to IHOP. I got a country omelet which comes with pancakes. We get to her house, I took 1/4 of the HUGE omelet, and 1 pancake. First bite of pancake, PB. Decided to just eat the omelet. Every little bite was painful and sloshing. Finally 3 bites later I just couldn't do it, ended up throwing it all up. I was sooo hungry. So I took it home.. layin in bed with DH, I tried eating the omelet again. Nothing. My stomach was growling from hunger, but that food just wasn't going to go down. I don't know why??? Ended up chain smoking to satisfy my stomach and went to sleep. But I could have eaten cupcakes all night if I had some -

Daisalana replied to Seaman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do find that odd, even with not as much restriction as I want, I can eat 1.5 pieces of pizza comfortably. Towards the other 1/2 of the 2nd slice, I hurt and don't want anymore. I can't imagine being able to eat that much right now. I have PB'd and kept trying to eat tho, and it turned into a PB after every bite, and I think myself sick in the head that I continued. Have they checked your band to make sure it's in proper position? -
There is a fill place in Nashville area I was looking into. I'm in Huntsville,AL and NONE of the local docs will fill patients that aren't their own. I called this place, they have 3 docs.. and they fill people who weren't banded by them, you just have to bring the paperwork (call and they'll tell you what to bring). I think she said it's free for check ups, $100 if you decide to get a fill. Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity - weight loss surgery, bariatric surgery

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
Daisalana replied to losingjusme's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Not a time limit, but another forum I belong to, to be able to view the RnR portion, you have to e-mail admins and get added to the list. You don't have to be xxx days old, you just have to let them know you want to see it. I thought it was a great idea. You can see the main thread, but when you click on it, it says if you want to join, contact ___. -
Went to Dermatologist for the hair loss and...
Daisalana replied to kacee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's interesting, I am NOT washing my hair everyday, because it seems showering is when I find the clumps.. I thought letting my hair rest every other day was helping. Maybe I will start washing it everyday and see how that helps. I also take biotin, that's what my band doc recommends. My hair isn't falling out as fast as it was, but that could just be because it was deciding to stop soon anyway.. -
I agree with the texture theory. I normally keep a bag of frozen meatballs in the fridge for a quick dinner for me.. I bought a generic brand last time we ran out because it's all I saw. The ones I now have, have a very spongey texture.. very squishy and not meaty. I PB on them everytime I try. And I've tried at the 'loose' times of my evening, and still PB. It's always very well chewed up pieces.. so I think it's just the texture.

Daisalana replied to Seaman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sounds like you just need to work more of you and rely less on the band. It's not easy The band isn't a magic wand. If you are PBing from food, don't wait till it passes and keep eating. If you're anything like me, a PB makes you not hungry anymore. You may be head hungry, but your stomach isn't going to ask you to put more stuff in it. So you need to tame the head hunger. It does not take 6-8 slices of pizza to be 'full' or 'satisfied'. Pay attention to your stopping points. Again, this is all easier said than done, I've done the things you're talking about. -
Maybe make a pamphlet of information on complications of the obesity problems you already have. Show him how it's only going to get worse with age, and it's going to be harder to lose weight. Explain you want this for ALL of you. You want to be a good active mother, and a wife that can do things with her husband. If it was 'that easy', you'd have done it already. My DH supported me because at only 23, my body was feeling like 80.. and I wanted to be young! That being said, he did make comments when I asked him how he felt about all this, that he thinks I could do it on my own. Being overweight since birth, I disagree.. but it's hard until they walk in your shoes.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I'm not a proud bandster right now, I'm making bad bad food choices. I'm looking for my motivation.. where'd it go you guys? I think it was panda that mentioned being called skinny? Maybe not, but I know someone was talking about it. At the bowling alley now, that is my nickname. The owner is a close family friend, and all my dad's poker/golf buddies that bowl know about the band. So we went to bowl yesterday and 3 of them in the course of the time we were there said "Hey Skinny!", loud and clear for all to hear. It didn't bother me, but then people there for parties or just fun that don't know me, look up and of course I'm NOT skinny so they probably thought it's one of those reverse nicknames.. which then emberassed me. My brother is 6'9 and about 350lbs.. in high school his name was P-Wee. So that's like how my new nickname feels hah. I need to jump back on the band wagon. Someone kick me in the pants. -
Hah, I win.. mom says I was born obese. I remember wearing mens clothes in 4th grade, when I first cared about 'fashion'..men's corduroy jeans with men's t-shirts.. up till then I wore spandex pants with those big colorful tops.
-
I'm with Faith, I'm disappointed in the LACK of clothing sizes I went down. I've resigned to the fact, I was wearing clothes that were too small to start, so I was in a 24/26 (stretch jeans & fitted tops) which probably SHOULD have been what's after that.. 26/28?? Now I can comfortably wear 20/22 bottoms and 18/20 tops. I've lost almost 70lbs, so I WISHED it was more in size department. Guess I should be happy, though.. I have shirts I've held onto that were too small, I'm waiting to wear (3x junior size at wal-mart). I tried them on about a month ago and they're still skin tight and won't cover my belly.

I feel like such a fool! Warning this post contains a "break-up" email*
Daisalana replied to cookielover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What the hell?? How old is your friend? That e-mail makes no sense. Because you're dieting and losing weight, your best friend can no longer talk to you? I'm so baffled by that e-mail, I don't even have good words to respond. -
Definitely sounds like HE has a problem, not you. Do NOT get discouraged!! I still have about 90lbs to lose.. and my husband says the sex is better already. My tummy isn't in the way so much. If you have 50lbs more to lose, you're ahead of the game. Now time to find the right man ;D

I've never been a big drinker. Maybe 3x a year. Since banding, I have liked the taste of alcohol more.. I don't feel like I'm deprived of food and transferring.. maybe I'm in denial hah hah. I still don't drink often, maybe once a month.. but that's still more than I use to. I like dirty martinis now. I just have one when I decide to drink, but I love it. In the past I drank only to get drunk, hated the taste of alcohol and would just shoot stuff holding my nose.
