Ball's (Finally) Rolling - Band To Sleeve Conversion
Daisalana replied to Daisalana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today they said they are writing a letter to insurance to cover lap band removal now with sleeve procedure 90 days later. Asked if I needed to do anything and they said nope. Woohoo. Slightly bummed it is two surgeries but long term it doesn't matter, just my impatience...and 20% cash. I am hoping that means easier recoveries for both surgeries and less risk of leak. -
Hi Slim! Well, talked to the nurse today. They want to take out the band, let my stomach heal 3 months, then do the sleeve. I didn't question it, if that's how they want to do it, they know best. I didn't see anyone else mentioning that in what I've glanced through so far. Anyone else go that route? I asked if her they are doing the preauthorization together; so I don't get the go-ahead from insurance to remove band, then in 3 months have them deny the sleeve. She said the doctor is doing the letter to get authorization for the band out and sleeve put in at 90 days. She said it can take up to a month to get the go-ahead from insurance. Fingers crossed, I need this quickly. I'm ballooning up, I have no will power, and I'm in an endless cycle. I need him to staple my mouth shut for the 3 months! heh.

Only one actual replacement due to breaking, the rest were repairs, moving ports, reattaching tube, etc. I swore my son kicked my port loose while pregnant. Doc said not possible but i felt it ripping! But no, no answer. Allergen paid for the broken one.
-
LOL I am so glad I found the follow up answer. Your title and then deleted posts had me worrying. I'm working on band to sleeve conversion, my port position (3rd placement) is right in between my boobs and I'm so over that. Rubs my bra, hurts when I'm active, that's one thing I'm really excited about, I was afraid there's a reason they may leave it!!

Jane, sorry I am still trying to figure out this new website, which is why I haven't been posting!! If I figure it out I'll let you know. Debating moving our little 'thread' to e-mails... ? Thanksgiving was interesting, first time in my life it was at my mom's (last minute) because Granny threw out her back again... So she was hopped up on lortabs and it made Thanksgiving pretty wild. She is normally so strict on how everything has to be, but she told me to tear into the turkey with my bare hands when she couldn't cut it and I couldn't get the knife to cut......and I did. Also for the first time, I went out on Black Friday. Me, russ and carson went to the mall. Wasn't too terrible, I had fun being out in all the holiday-ness. We tried Santa again, still a no-go. Then Carson spilled a whole bottle of Water on himself, so I bought him a new outfit that was on sale for $4... I only bought that, an outfit for Brody, and a grill pan. But we enjoyed walking around (I did anyway). Then we got home, and I stepped on the lip of the garage with bags in my hand, and my foot bent in half.. I felt and heard it SNAP. To my surprise it did not hurt at al, I could stand up.. my opposite knee hurt from falling on it. But then as hours passed it started to hurt and by Saturday I had to get a bandage to support it. So now I'm in a support brace, I guess it's sprained. Then Saturday night Russ & I watched a couple movies since Carson was at my parents' house. The Soloist, loved it.. Jamie Foxx is such a good actor!! Then, Kick-Ass... a friend of mine kept telling me I had to watch it. It was very Quinten Terintino (sp)'ish.. and I hate his movies. This movie, I didn't hate it, but I know there's a sequel and I won't be seeing it. Had a 12 year old girl violently killing all kinds of people. Was very weird. Haydee, I feel BIG and uncomfortable all the time too. I also wake up for an hour every single night, wide awake somewhere between 2-4am. My asthma is getting so bad, my inhaler is almost empty so last night I thought I was suffocating. I am doing the 4-d ultrasound today, I feel like his butt is right under my boobs, I'm curious to see if I'm right. I keep smacking it and he kicks me HEH! YAY Pam, you can do this. When are you off the modified diet, and when you are what do you eat differently?

Definitely going to take getting use to. I use to get here by going to user cp and seeing when new posts are here... had to do it the long way now, am I missing something?

That's a tongue twister!

Purple power for you Pam!! Maybe this will help distract you for a moment.. my fav. internet blogger/comic posted a new one last night on her stupid dogs and moving. http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/

I saw your FB about Curves Judy lol. They're re-teaching you! We could all use the kick in the butt. A friend of ours is doing Zumba and every day she is Fb'ing about how much she loves it (she's in Nashville, so not local). I didn't know Curves had Zumba? I may look into Zumba post-Brody. FOOD PORN ALERT!! My gal pal I go to lunch with every week was telling me about some truffle recipe she made at home and how wonderful they were. She said you bake a cake, crumble it with a tub of icing, roll em up, get em cold then dip in chocolate. After googling, it sounds like the cake pops Haydee told us about (omg yum). So I've decided for Thanksgiving I'm going to make a couple different kinds. I'm for sure doing pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese icing, dipped in white chocolate. Russell <3's heath bars, and he's been on a diet (did I tell ya'll that?? He's low-calorie dieting). He's lost 20lbs in like a month, men suck.. and he complains 20lb in a month isn't a lot. ANYWAY. So I thought I'd do a treat and I'm going to do heath bar crumbles on the outside of one.. dipped in milk chocolate first, but can't decide on what the cake/icing should be on the inside. French Vanilla cake and what frosting?? I'm glad Thanksgiving is coming up and I have a reason to make these. I know if I made them for no reason I'd eat the whole damn thing.

Awww Michelle, I love the jester pic too!

Those are gorgeous Haydee! And I do so love that name Make sure you take pics when you get the nursery together. I have our nursery together, I plan to take pics soon, right now I have a bunch of rubber maid bins of Carson's old clothes all over the floor, want to get those sorted before I do pics, I have a fuzzy blue rug on the floor that has to pull into the pics!

I prefer SmartOnes over Lean Cuisine, and every once in a while when I eat one, I surprise myself all over again at how good they are. I had one the other night, Russ was sick so I wasn't going to make dinner and he keeps them for lunch, so I had a salisbury steak & asparagus... it was only 210 calories, how is that only 210 calories?! The patty was a thick one, and the asparagus was so good. One I've always liked--which is weird because I don't like pasta, or red sauce... is angel hair marinara.. has angel hair, squash, zucchini, and probably some other veggies in a marinara.. and it's very good..although I normally eat it too quick and end up PBing.

Haydee, link us to the one you bought so we can see it!!!! Pam I am so excited for you, I am living vicariously through you YOU CAN DO THE LIQUID DIET. Just remember, it's a BLIP of your life, and it'll be a distant memory when you're rocking your skinny jeans  Also, my lap-band doc Rx's some meds for food headaches when you start your pre-op diet. I have no idea what it was now (it was a liquid), can you call your surgeon and ask him if he can Rx you some??? Mom is wanting to open up a donut shop somewhere in madison. Apparently she's aware of the lack of donut shops lol. We don't have Dunkin Donuts here, so she was researching franchises, and found Southern Maid Donuts. She thought it sounded nice, even though we've never had any, but their franchise is very relaxed and affordable so she could run it how she wants, etc. I texted Haydee (they are only in LA and TX), and she said they were good. Made mom feel better, I told her it's funny she picked a franchise we've never heard of, while it sounds up and up if you've never had their donut, how could you pick one?! I think they're going to take a trip to LA to one and check out the product after they get the franchise packet and look it over. I told her I'll help her come up with creative flavors (it sounds like they let you make up your own, outside of their glazed & cream, as long as you use their flour). We went to Tunica saturday night, so Russ could have a vaca. He's been stressing over work lately and said he wanted a vaca. Can't afford to gamble, so we just went and played our free coupons, ate free food, watched free movies, all that fun stuff. I guess it made him feel better! His mom came down to watch Carson, and brought our 3 month old niece with her. I was so nervous for her, but she said she raised 3 small boys, it's nothing. She said Carson was great and was helping her the whole time, would bring the baby's blanket to her when they were sitting down and they'd all 3 sit on the couch and read or watch tv. She said he never acted jealous. But I got home and he runs to me, and while his mom loaded up the car, I was feeding the baby... and Carson freaked out!!!! He was screaming, making the baby scream, and immitating her newborn cry. Was the weirdest thing. And they wouldn't come back in (ends up neighbor across the street had ambulance & fire truck pull up, so they were out there watching the commotion), so I finally had to carry both of them outside so someone could take one of them. They were so loud! I hope he gets over it. He's only jealous with me, Russ & his mom could hold the baby and he was fine, but if I did it he panicked! Almost done with my book My Lobotomy... what a sad story

Has anyone used Dr. Malipur, specifically that was self-pay that could let me know the cost?

Yay Haydee, have fun at the tour! Got a voicemail, all my glucose tests were normal. See, it was the damn ice cream I had the day before. They should tell women these things. I just got off the phone with Old Navy, I've officially placed my last order with them. For a while now, their shipping is FedEx Smartpost, which is FEDEX STUPIDASSPOST. I don't understand it. If I shippged something to Old Navy on my Fedex account, it would cost $5, and it is a 2-day FIRM transit time. Well when I checked out last week, it said 7-9 Business days; FREE (which would be Smartpost). Or for $7 more I could get it in 3-5 days (I assume this is their normal Fedex ground). I pay the $7, Well sure as shit, they send it Fedex SMARTPOST (I start seeing red) So not only am I really mad, but I also paid $7 when it could have been free. I track the damn thing, it won't even deliver to my USPS for over a week!!!!!! Then they take a couple days to process it. I get so friggin mad if you can't tell. I called, talked to a girl who is like, well (trying to make up ways this falls into 3-5 business days, which there is no way to do so.. but I also work with shippers every day and transit times, so I know what business days mean). I ask for a supervisor, she said they will have to call me back within 24 hours, they don't have any. I'm like you don't have a supervisor??? So she puts me on a hold, finds one (I guess). She is stupid too. She doesn't understand what I could possibly be upset about, and explains how ON picks shippers based on the best whatever (Bullshit). If they want to talk about the best way, smartpost is designed for residential only, and I ship to a business address. ANYWAY. Bottom line, they said to call back if I don't receive it in 3-5 days, even though smartpost tracking says it won't even arrive to my USPS for a week. I'm done with Old Navy. I was a good customer of theirs, but I'm tired of this STUPIDASSPOST.

For the clear liquid, besides the SF jello, I drank a lot of ramen broth and chicken broth with some pizza spices in it.

Ok, I only got about 20 pages into My Lobotomy, but I know it's going to be good. I like his writing style, and it starts out a sad story (his mom died, has a step mom, and I'm sure that has something to do with why he got a lobotomy as a small child...), I'm afraid to find out how it all came about. Sounds like a very tragic story. Back at work, fun way to spend my morning!! I did stop at CVS and shop whilst waiting for one of my tests. They had Christmas stuff out, more specifically Christmas candy. ARGH!!!! I did really good, only bought ONE chocolate santa pop. I wanted to buy bags of hersheys kisses and m&m's bad. Ironic, since I'm doing a diabetes test. durrrrr. Oh for the mouse.. set up several traps (we don't have luck with traps, only the glue traps and those are too dangerous with all the pets and now Carson). Nothing yet. I can't believe he had caught it. He is such a spaz sometimes, I was saying "Don't move, let me grab something" and he's goign "I don't think I got it.." as he raises the bag.. and bam.

Lab is close enough to home, I came home for this hour!! I failed my original glucose test a couple weeks ago, so you have to do a 3 hour test to follow up. Blood drawn, drink glucose, blood drawn every hour for 3 hours. You're not suppose to be allowed to leave, but the room had only standing room so I'd been going out to my car. I'm 5m from home, so... they won't notice!

Pousting from doc lab. Brought the book My lobotomy. True story of a, guy who is forced to get a lobotomy a a kid. Il l let you know if its any good. I will be here for 3 hours.

Pam I didn't get a text??? You double the cream cheese, everything else remains the same. It's almost 2am and Carson is at my parent's and some reason I woke up an hour ago wide awake.... I think I forgot to tell you, on the 1st my sister checked into a 90-day rehab in Destin, FL. It's on the beach, sounds really fabulous actually heh heh. She hasn't been doing drugs lately, well besides Rx, but they Rx her the things she abused so I don't understand that... but it's a dual diagnostic, also addresses mental problems. She's been in a bad place and cutting very bad lately. I always thought after her small rehab stays she should go to a sober living house, instead of going right back to her lifestyle, so hopefully this will be helpful that she's going to be in a good environment for 3 months instead of 7-10 days.

CONGRATULATIONS JUDY!!!! woowooo!!!

Oh Judy I just saw your first post about Kris. What ended up happening? It's the HGH (Human Growth Hormone), it's suppose to rapidly increase in the first little while, which is also what creates the line on the pee sticks. Having to help in billing at work today (UGH). Went to doc this morning (a clinic) because I have had a hard time breathing the past month, asthma is bad but then I got a cold 2 weeks ago and ever since then my breathing is getting worse and worse, I choked on flem all night long last night so finally went. They gave me prednasone pills (said shot is too strong for pregnant women) and lortab to help sleep (woo). I called my obgyn to make sure both were ok, I knew lortab was but just in case something changed. I was worried about prednasone, I haven't read good things about it online with pregnancy. but he only gave me 20mg to take 1x a day for 5 days which apparently is an extremely mild dose, so she said everything is ok to take. Back to billing.....SIGH

Still waiting on that cold weather Jane! It's raining today, and a little chilly. But we still bounce between 60-85 degree days. Also, I didn't think you should get a shower with each baby, but I found out early in my pregnancy people DO have a shower for each baby. So, I am having another one I kept everything from C, so I don't need a lot.. certain things like bottles, bibs, things you don't want to re-use I would need more of. Haydee, here's a maternity tip. I never bought 'maternity dresses', just buy dresses that are babydoll style. Like the 2 you gave me, that have a line under the bust, then fall out. Short ones especially work great. Then you can re-use after the pregnancy, and they aren't terribly expensive. Old Navy normally has a good selection of baby doll style dresses.
