People are trying to stop their children from seeing this movie, out of fear that interest in the movie will generate interest in the books and *gasp* expose their children to themes of anti-religion. Well.. yeah. If you're a christian, you believe in heaven & hell. I would imagine it's a horrible feeling knowing your kid is going to hell. Thus, you wouldn't want your child exposed to other ideas of thinking, because you want them to be christian. I don't believe you can pick your child's religion, but I can see the theory, and why so many people would be against their children seeing it. I am christian.. and I plan to raise my children in a christian environment the way I was raised, but it's ultimately up to the child to pick. I wouldn't forbid them from seeing an anti-religion movie, just because I want my kids to have their own thoughts. I want my kids to form their own opinions.

Pam- Yeah the lettuce I ate was good with the sour cream & guacamole (I don't like mexican, but I love guacamole).. I almost got the guacamole salad, but the fajita with salad in it sounded good (even though I was wrong hah hah). It had lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, all kinds of peppers, onions, sour cream, tomatoes, and then the evil tough over-cooked steak. If I had it without steak, I think it would have been awesome. I didn't eat the shell either. I was going to reheat for dinner, but DH said he did want the left overs, so no more for me! -
You *can* eat it (well some can, there was a thread on this), but beware of calories in normal peanut butter, it's a lot. Pancakes/waffles, I can only eat a tiny tiny bit before feeling stuffed. Pork, I can't eat.

I noticed when I was quickly losing right off the bat, my back fat was going away quicker than my belly. Now they both are fighting to not move.. but from observation it looks like my back is quicker than belly. But then my belly was a lot bigger, so I store most of my fat in front, and I was just so big it had to migrate to the back hah hah. I do have the 2nd set of boobs under my armpits too. I worry about that when I decide to wear tank tops next year :x

I just google imaged Edamame since I have no idea what that is. Looks like lima beans?? Are they the same thing?
-
I dunno, I could have probably eaten the whole box of whoppers. Desserts, chips, snack foods.. no problem eating them all. My typical binge was never just junk food (well, besides fast food). I liked eating a lot of food foods from places.. or like 4 burgers from McDonalds.. all different kinds. Weee.

Ohh myyy gooodness. All the girls here go to a mexican restaurant for lunch on Fridays.. I don't like mexican food, but I go sometimes for the company. Today I was so hungry, havin those shoulder/arm pains I get when I am too hungry (really buggin me). So I went.. I was lookin for somethin that sounded good and small. They had a taco salad fajita. Lots of veggies, sour cream and guacamole. Ok, I even commented that I wished they had pics in the menu so I could see what stuff looks like. Anyway, I imagined a fajita with all this stuff in it. I was mistaken. It's a HUGE salad bowl (made of fried tortilla I guess) full of salad & fajita. I mixed it around and did a good job of picking at it the whole time. I ate 2 bites of lettuce with guacamole, one piece of green pepper, then tried a piece of steak. OUCH. We were chatting and I kept getting hung up, where you can't talk cause you're having an episode? So I went to the bathroom and cleared out the steak.. and I'm full. I'm so glad to be restricted again. Wish it was just a little fajita though, not this big salad. Got it to go, it's probably like 80 bites of food.. and I did 3. -

Green- HAHA ME TOO ME TOO! I have Rx Sunglasses, and I always wear them (if there's any hint of sun out), just so I can people watch. I have a horrible staring problem. I'm not judging them or anything, I just like to see how people act when they don't expect someone to be watching. It fascinates me.. The catch is.. I blatently stare with my sunglasses.. and I've had them for 2 years.. a month ago, I looked at myself in the mirror and realized.. you can see through my sunglasses. So now I'm just a creepy person hah hah. -

-3 in a month sux???? How much would you have gained in November pre-band? -
I feel ya Lauren. I use to have binge nights, and I still can't pinpoint the triggers. I can think of one instance post-band where I was trying to indulge.. appetizer, meal, AND dessert (applebee's to-go) When I went to eat it, I got through a few bites of appetizer and was filling up..so I jumped right to the dessert. Wasn't quite like the 'good ol days' of 2 entrees, 1-2 appetizers and a few desserts.. I disgust myself sometimes.

Would you do it again or choose another option?
Daisalana replied to BPM's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would do it again.. But I do have days when I wished I'd had RNY and I could have lost a lot more weight by now. I'm impatient, and when I'm plateauing, I get in a rut. Not all the time, and I know when it's time to have kids, or later down the road when I keep getting adjustments, I'm going to be thrilled that I did lap-band instead of RNY. But those days do exist for me -

Oh forgot to tell you about my 'incident' last night. I made a NUMMY balsamic chicken last night. I used chicken thighs & legs. Made a sauce out of mustard, thyme, sage, rosemary, salt & pepper. Rubbed the chicken pieces down, then lots of balsamic vinegar, then a drizzle of EVOO. Roasted for an hour, turning & basting. Well, while it's cooking I had some cheese for a snack. Kind of PB'd, not bad, was just where I foam at the mouth a little bit.. Then I go in the kitchen to turn the chicken (kitchen smells like the chicken of course) and all of a sudden I was horribly nauseated from the smell. Felt like the flu kind of sick. The smell was so overwhelming, I had a panicky feeling, I couldn't get away from it in the house. I ran outside in the backyard and heaved for a bit. I couldn't believe it. DH said "Guess you're not eating chicken for dinner". heh. It passed after 10 minutes, went back into the house, had the chicken for dinner with no problems. I had this happen one other time after a really bad PB, and I think it was a big spit bubble that triggered my throw up nerves. But the smell of the chicken was intoxicating (in a not-romantic way!). Haydee- You can have your present! Everyone be good today.. TGIF!! I've had a white chocolate turtle for 'lunch'. -

Morning! Just got back from the gyno. I forgot how nervous it makes me. And I forgot how painful the pap is. It doesn't last long of course, but yikes! We were having a conversation and she did it and I just had to shut up. I asked her about my sex drive.. I have a decent one, but it's not as good as I'd like. When I went off B/C for surgery, I was like a horndog.. when I started back on, it went away. She said this isn't a common side effect of B/C but it does happen. But she doesn't want me goin off B/C till I lose more weight and regulate blah blah, so I guess her answer was tough sh*t. Bummer, was hoping she'd say a different kind of B/C would help or something. They set me up to do some tests next week to make sure my ovaries & uterus are all ok. I have a kidney that is in my pelvis, and before I cared about kids, they told my mom they'd either remove it during pregnancy (if baby was squishing it), or the baby would push it out of the way. But doc wants to make sure the kidney isn't keeping my tubes and uterus from working properly. So they're doing a dye test and inflating my uterus (eek). Some reason I think this is going to be painful.. and then doing something with saline & ultrasound at their office.. other part at the hospital. Hopefully all my girly parts are a-ok! I lost 70lbs since the last time they saw me, they were happy. I asked her about the problems I have on my thighs (bad bad bad sores, had them for years). Last year she told me to try hibiclens.. didn't work. I told her now that I've lost weight, I had HOPED they'd be going away.. but no. She said I would probably need plastic surgery and asked if my insurance covers it. I'm 99.9% sure my insurance won't cover it, since they don't cover obesity treatments. Boo -
Wow! Good for him! My husband (unbanded, and not much overweight) said he's lost about 8lbs since he started paying attention 2 months ago. Lap-Band is good for the whole family huh?

Ok it kind of dawned on me when I posted the oatmeal chicken recipe.. but it JUST hit me like a rock on the head. I don't like chicken breast. I've been making myself cook it lately, and I pick at it, but I just do not like it...then I get hungry really quick later on.. doh. So.. chicken thighs & legs. Why haven't I been buying them?! Most recipes I make, I can make with the dark meat. DUH!!! I'm so stupid, took me what 7 months to figure this out? I love the dark meat of chicken. Going to make DH stop at Publix (and listen to him bitch & moan) on the way home from work, going to make roasted balsamic chicken.. with thighs instead of breasts. I'll actually eat it! YAY! -
poll on left shoulder pain
Daisalana replied to ajoneen's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My left shoulder/chest pains have gotten worse. They're more frequent, and last longer. I got a fill yesterday, I should have asked him about it.. problems is unless it's hurting, I don't think about it  For hours at work now I've had this pain, and I keep bending my arms and stretching, doesn't help. Radiates into my collar bone. I haven't eaten a 'meal' today, and I think being hungry is a trigger for me. I had yogurt for b'fast, and a 90 calorie granola bites for lunch.. didn't seem to phase the pain. -

I was signing my Xmas cards in a hurry, and I think it's Tracy's.. I spelled my name wrong hahaha.. I even put "I forgot how to spell my name". Hehe! I did something different for cards this year. Every year I end up with extras, and I store them. This year instead of buying new cards, I took a mix from the ones I've used before. And in our group, I used 3 different styles. I picked them out according to your personalities, so that was kind of fun  Now.. to get stamps.. I'm so lazy. -
Whether you want others to enjoy Christmas or not doesn't bother me. But knowing how people are so bitter & tainted and take it out on Christmas as their reason, just makes me sad for you. Wish you knew what it was like to feel the magic of the season.

The Magic Bullet - A Bandster Must-Have!

My G'ma got the 2 for 1 deal with her room mate last year. They never opened either, and he died April of this year (I was banded in April). I heard we should get one, and low and behold she now had 2 and nothing to do with them..so she gave me one. I had hard time getting mine to chop up ice. Even with pulsing, then letting it go, etc. I always had to hammer the ice before putting it in, and then it still left big chunks. Maybe mine is just defect? But I did like using it to blend the smoothies regardless, it really blended it.. better than my stirring ever did. I mixed expresso, vanilla protein powder, and splenda, was drinkable. I like it now for chopping up soft veggies. I still can't get mine to grind up big stuff -
Hah, maybe that's it. Your alcohol taste buds have to mature? I'm craving one now.. mmm
