Well.. Sorry your family isn't being supportive, but.. The band isn't about dieting persay.. I still have the pumpkin pie :guess and hot chocolate (at least once a week) :hungry: and if I liked lemon meringue, I'd have told her sure! :whoo: If I were you on mushies, I'd most definitely eat the inside of a piece of pumpkin pie.. num num. You don't have to give everything up.. moderation. Don't eat a huge piece, or take home half the pie.. just have a small piece and eat the filling. Enjoy it! It's the holidays.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ohh and make sure to take the muscle relaxers. If it's anything like mine was, from the hurt it was inflamed really bad, inflammation keeps the back from healing, it keeps everything out of line and making you never get better. Now, take all your meds and relax -

Ohhh your back, not your neck. I can totally relate, when I herniated my disks, I was bawling my eyes out and trying to kill myself from the pain for months. At least your doc gave you meds. TAKE IT EASY!!! NO SHOPPING!!!! Gah lady, rest rest!! -
The grape jelly meatballs are wonderful if you can eat them.. I use to make those too. Meatballs are too rubbery for me now, so I didn't suggest it.

The name of the book is I Am Legend [ame=http://www.amazon.com/I-Am-Legend-Richard-Matheson/dp/031286504X]Amazon.com: I Am Legend: Books: Richard Matheson[/ame] DH read it (it's from the 50's or something he said, so it's a little rough to read), he said it gives you a lot more info on the situation. I forget what they're called in hollywood terms, where something isn't continuous in the movie.. for example, he knocked out the girl with the butt of his rifle when he caught her in the net.. and then at the end the guy can bash open the plexiglass over and over with his face and he's fine? That bugged me. But I wanted to see how the virus evolved, and was disappointed that they just kinda left a lot to assume. DH said book is a lot different from the movie. I'm going to buy it and see! Anywho. DH's speeding ticket was annoying. Our city has sooo many cops, you can't speed without a ticket. We live on county line, which is 50mph. They're building a Publix, so for like 1 mile the speedlimit is 35mph. DH is going 55 on cruise. We get to 35, he goes down to 45.. then it's 45mph posted (that's new..hope they don't change the whole road).. I am watching his cruise control now at 55, and I think, he sees the 45, so he'll go down now.. but no.. 56..and before it hit 57 I said "You need to slow down", and his speedometer goes to 57.. I look in oncoming traffic.. "And there's a cop." Sure enough, he's slowing down to U-Turn, so DH goes ahead and pulls into the next neighborhood to wait.. And there's the cop. So he said we were goin 57 in a 35! Yikes. Luckily he didn't say anything about wreckless driving for going so fast, I guess since it's not SUPPOSE to be 35.. but we have to call & find out the cost of the ticket.. which is different.. I haven't gotten tickets since I was 16, but the cost was always on the ticket. I hope it's not much. Merry Christmas to us! On our way to work, we passed 3 more people pulled over. They're really trying to meet that quota this month. -

Headaches from Liquid Diet
Daisalana replied to princesstracey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor actually prescribes liquid headache medicines (without being prompted) when you go for the pre-op. He said to take it during the pre-op liquid diet or post-op as needed for hunger headaches. I ended up having headaches before that when I gave up cokes.. I imagine from the caffein, maybe the sugar? Call & ask your doc if he can prescribe something. -
What do you think of the tv show Saving Grace?
Daisalana replied to munchkin392's topic in The Lounge
I recorded every episode on Tivo.. I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes, and it's ok.. but I kept getting bored. It wasn't exciting enough for a whole hour. ADD kicked in, and I'd start reading a book. I actually deleted the other 8-10 episodes off of my TiVo last night. I decided it's not one I'm ever going to get around to, because it doesn't draw me in. -
Num num crockpot foods. I make a lot of crockpot foods, I can't eat them all, but I can eat something in it. For example pot roast.. Put a raw roast in, a packet of lipton dry onion Soup, sliced potatos, sliced onions (and some people put celery & carrots, but I detest those things in food) Cover it all in Water. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. It's very tender meat, and softens everything. I still have a hard time eating the meat, so I mix the au juice with mashed potatos and make a soup sort of mixture out of it. My favorite crockpot recipe.. Shortribs. Put raw shortribs in it, make a bbq sauce (or use the recipe above really).. but I like the bbq.. tablespoon of mustard, tablespoon worstershire sauce (none of these are exact measures), teaspoon of minced garlic, teaspoon of brown sugar, 1/2tablespoon of vinegar (I use balsamic).. put it on the ribs, then I water it down with enough water to make it cover the short ribs in the pot. As it cooks down, it thickens up and the ribs are so soft and tender they literally fall off the bone and you can't put a fork in them and pick them up to save your life lol. There's good crockpot recipes out there.. google 'crockpot recipes'. A lot of chicken, which I know is healthier than beef, but I'm not a fan of the chicken. Can make a crockpot chicken stew, pot pie, etc.

I don't like mexican food or spicy, but since banding I do crave hot every once in a while. It's still probably considered mild to most, since I am not a spicy type.. but when I eat sushi, I crave a lot of wasabi on it now. That's different for me! Maybe our stomachs are getting bored with the band and want some excitement

OMG YOU GUYS! I just had it happen.. My long post just disappeared. GRRR. TIme for the short version. DH got a speeding ticket. I'm going to make chicken & dumplings. Talk to ya'll later! -
I just have to say I sympathize. I lived in a bad neighborhood when I lived in Albuquerque, my car kept getting broken into and I had become SO bitter. I hated our neighbors, I hated the neighborhood, I hated the city. I couldn't wait to get back to the south. But now that I am here, and in what I consider a good neighborhood, I am so paranoid. I have never done decorations, but my next door neighbor is a landscaper and boy do they go all out for the holidays. For halloween he put out a pile of hay with a scarecrow scene and pumpkins all over. The day I saw it, I said "Thats going to suck when the pumpkins hit his house". It never happened, I was surprised. For Xmas, they put 2 big live xmas trees out front, fully decorated, lights everywhere, things in the yard. It looks fantastic, and so far so good! I put up some lights, but I kept thinking about local kids coming and ripping them down after I risked my life on that ladder on wobbly ground. The wind tore half of them down, and I've decided no more xmas decorations for me. I don't know an answer, but I hate it for you. I hate teens with nothing better to do. Before our house was finished being built someone sprayed 6-6-6 on our front door, and painted some of our brand new dark bricks white. The builders 'fixed' it, but the bricks are damaged permanently. They should have replaced them, instead they power washed them. So now near our front door is a set of bricks that look washed out with a film of white over them. I wish I could have found the a$$hats that did it, and when they grow up and buy their first house they put all their savings into, I can ruin a part of it for them. Anyway, I'm bitter. I hate that there's crime, but there's no solution.. and yeah, police are pretty useless in these things. They're more concerned about robberies, and murders.

Overeating before first fill?
Daisalana replied to meghan1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're losing 2lbs a week on average, and don't feel hungry and eat too much etc. You don't HAVE to get a fill, in fact you shouldn't. So if nothing changes between now & then, your doc should know not to give you a fill. My doc said my band was pretty snug and I may not ever need a fill. He was wrong, but it seems like only 1.5cc is 'too much' for me. Some people 1.5cc doesn't affect them. Everyone is different like that -
I'm really good at picking up on it, and then flirting back without helping it. It's hard to explain, I sat here thinking of how to respond, but I can't really. A certain kind of look. Kind of like me and a co-worker joke about our husbands 'sex' look. They get this look in their eyes when they look at us, and we know they want sex! So a look.. a smile that is different. That's the biggest thing I notice. They smile at me one way, then smile at someone with me another way (like DH). Or, showing more attention to you even in a passing way. Very hard to put it in words, I guess you just have the radar or you don't lol. The night I met my husband, we were underage in a bar in Las Vegas. I was throwing matches at a friend of mine, and one landed on DH.. on his crotch ironically. But he looked up at me, with his sex eyes. And I knew then, before even meeting him, that he was interested hah hah.

Oy, if he goes on about a reduction you had before you met, I would not want to be in your shoes right now. First off, I would not have been able to hide it from my DH even if I wanted to. The first few days I was miserable and in pain, and couldn't bend over, etc. Good luck with telling him, hopefully it'll all work out!!
